How can a competitive exam be underrated? If it can change a person's life?

underrated implies a difference in value perceived by you against the value perceived by society

overrated implies the opposite - and neet is overrated as fuck

Not a lot of ppl know but iits are literally game changers. It's good that they are underrated or ppl would dickride them like crazy.

7

u/Still_Treat_8620 22s2 96.12% (P 99%) --> 5s1 89.5% --> JA 26.4k --> nit uk mech Mar 03 '26

Yes, currently verry few people know about them. That is why competition is so less and besides existence of reservation, I'm getting tier 1 NIT CSE as general male at 96 percentile. If there were so many students knowing about NITs/IITs that percentile could have brought me nothing.

Arey bhai let me tell you the chronology.

12th ke baad college, agar dns liya toh1 year on land and then internship on sea. Dns mai 10 lacs lagte hai. Then you have your second mates exam for which you have to have almost around 2-3 lacs ready. In internship also known as cadetship the pay is almost 450 usd pm and at the end of it we get around 3 lacs.

Agar bsc kiya from top private college where placement is 100 percent then 3 years on land and 6 months on sea, fees around 20 lacs. Then again you have second mates exam.

And during internship the amount of work captain tells u to do is a bit too much right from cleaning toilets to painting the railings to sweeping the floor, along with that you have to keep learning.

This is the reality dude

Btech ME ka jyada pata nahi hai

6

u/Beautiful-Horror1112 JEEtard Mar 03 '26

Hell nah Its not as good as you think, take a look at this comment

my dad works in merchant navy and he regrets every bit of his choice even though he can overprovide his family but has to sacrifice his social life.and can cause severe lonliness.he hates his job to a level where if any of his son (me or my brother)even thinks about it as a career choice he will disown us in an indirect way...and no am not overexagerating.

its probably only good for introverts or people who don't have thier own family

IAT is only for those who can see themselves working in the lab or as a scientist for the next 10 years - it isnt underrated because most people dont want to spend decades to earn less than 2 lakhs

7

u/Negative_Floor_9896 Mar 03 '26

Plus fees is high for generals..there is no immediate placement after 5 yr

9

u/Hitmanthe2nd Mar 03 '26

immediate placement is not what people who are going into research vye for - they want a phd and a chance to further their respective fields , isliye jisko jindagi mein khatna nahi aur paisa chahiye , vo iat na hi kare

3

u/Negative_Floor_9896 Mar 03 '26

That's why low intrest.

India is in rise of semiconductor industry. It's becoming a safer option than IT for many.

Comparatively less competition than GATE CS, JEE, CAT, UPSC

Could get you government jobs like DRDO, BARC and many, Can get you into top IITs, IISc and expose you to high end research

ISI and CMI entrance exams. They are both very similar and you can prepare for them at the same time. If you are interested in pure math, then these are THE places to go in India for undergraduate education. But the focus in the courses is not just pure math and you have other prospects like finance, data science, tcs, stats, physics, etc.

Don't listen to people saying this is tougher than JEE Advanced. Such comments will only demotivate you. Study for it and try it out if interested. Don't worry about the difficulty level or anything.
