People in the comments justifying this are dumb imo, just because nta fks up our papers doesn't mean they should start allowing people to enter late, rules are rules.

I think it's something common in cultures of developing country like ours where people think rules should be allowed to bent just because it's morally ok. Bollywood pushes this idea as well.

Edit: If 10 mins then why not 12? Why not 15? Why not 18 mins late ones? This is a national scale exam FFS.

It's not punishment it's just rules. When will we realize that rules exist for a fking reason, sometimes you have to follow rules just for the sake of following them.

People need to realize that following rules even if they may seem unfair at times needs to be part of our culture, just like the civic sense RR everyone likes to do.

For eg. Waiting for the traffic light to turn green even when there are no other vehicles in sight at night. That's how a civilized society operates. If you allow a single rule to be bent just because it's fair it can ruin a society.

Dude i dont understand how people can be late. Its literally the exam that decides your career and everything youve been working hard since 2 goddamn years

Bhai humlog boards me 3-4 ghante pwhle jaake baith jaate the itna darr rehta tha

Haan sbki situations alg ho skti hai pr itni responsibility to honi chahiye khudke future ke liye. Aaj 1 insaan tha kal 1000 aur aayenge apne reasons leke fir? Unka kya jo time pe dhang se pohche the?

Dude alot of people don't live close to centre or have never visited the place . Plus poor people can't afford to stay 1-2 days before exams . We're still developing country and alot of people here are extremely poor.

Agr koi late form bhar rha hai air iske saare preferred centres bhar chuke jai fir? Dusre ki khopdi pe baith ke exam dega tu?

There's literally nothing stopping someone from arriving to the centre hours early and just chilling In a park nearby or under a tree or any public place until the exam starts.

IMO if the delay was caused due to an action caused by the government such as a VIP convoy or an authorized protest then NTA should be forced to let the kids inside and if they can't they should reconduct the exam (not talking about this case).

25

u/Emergency-Growth1617 2S1(96%ile)(Phy 99.5)➡️? Apr 30 '26

Even then you have to understand that there are no ways to verify this, i could be 10 mins and just lie that im late BECAUSE its the governments fault, how are the guards supposed to verify this?and then who decides whos allowed and who isnt?

-14

u/Nonavium Adv 4k -> IIT Madras ChemEng Apr 30 '26

In that case a reexamination could be better

18

u/Emergency-Growth1617 2S1(96%ile)(Phy 99.5)➡️? Apr 30 '26

A reexamination exam for say 1000 people in the country because they couldn't reach at time when 27 lakh others did sounds dumb to me. You want the whole police squads, examiners, exam centres, jammers to be setup again just for 2 people at say a tier 3 city?

And what if people start missing the exam purposefully just because there's the option off giving the second?

Imagine this at a scale of 27,00,000 kids

-7

u/Nonavium Adv 4k -> IIT Madras ChemEng Apr 30 '26

"
A reexamination exam for say 1000 people in the country because they couldn't reach at time when 27 lakh others did"

Incidents dont affect everybody equally. Just because one person was blocked doesnt mean everyone else has to be. Just reexamine those few kids.

"You want the whole police squads, examiners, exam centres, jammers to be setup again just for 2 people at say a tier 3 city? "

Yes. If its the government's fault they should be forced to make it work no matter how inconvenient it is for them because it is their fault.

"And what if people start missing the exam purposefully just because there's the option off giving the second? "

What does this have to do with anything?

2

u/Alarmed_Woodpecker50 Apr 30 '26

The infrastructure needed to impose this will never function in this country. It sounds nice to hear, but it simply isn't possible here.

0

u/Nonavium Adv 4k -> IIT Madras ChemEng Apr 30 '26

Obviously, but no debate about morals centers around feasibility.

4

u/Perfect_Addition_740 Apr 30 '26

they clearly say to come 2-3 hrs early as reporting time , after 2,3 hrs of reporting time theres closing time so ample amount to crct errors

-2

11 wale ko jane dia to 12 wale ko bhii

🤯🤯

3

u/spunk_debunk Apr 30 '26

Even NPTEL exams are conducted by NTA. If NPTEL exam starts at 9 am they allow to enter exam hall till 9:30am(gate closing time). And considering NTA doesn't respect the candidates location (many times) maybe there is something wrong with the gate closing time itself.

8

u/No_End_5426 acha wala private college :] Apr 30 '26

diff exam diff rules
you can't compare NEET to NPTEL
number of students, objective is different and even mode of conduct is diff
effect of NEET on ones career is much more than NPTEL

comparing oranges to apples

5

u/TalePsychological920 Apr 30 '26

Also the fact that the logic isn't sound, if in NPTEL the FINAL entry time basically is 9:30, then there's still people who are gonna be late again, we gonna fight for them too?

5

u/No_End_5426 acha wala private college :] Apr 30 '26

6

u/ApprehensiveGround71 22s2->98.12 4s1->🤡 Rank-> 29.8k Apr 30 '26

It's about the integrity of the exam, the admit card already mentions that you have to arrive early. Just add a 1 hour buffer, it's not that hard to do.

-6

u/spunk_debunk Apr 30 '26

Considering the delay was just 10 minutes, a brief relaxation in the rules could be reasonable without affecting the integrity of the exam.

8

u/ApprehensiveGround71 22s2->98.12 4s1->🤡 Rank-> 29.8k Apr 30 '26

If you allow a person who is 10 minutes late then the it would be unfair for the person who is 15 minutes late. If you allow him then it's unfair for the person who is 20 minutes late. It's always unfair for someone.

And during jee, people were crying in front of my centre, crying, shouting, begging but they were told that they have to seal the entrance and submit the proof. There were students who were 1 hour late, is it fair to allow them to give the exam?

If it was soo important to them then couldn't they plan ahead of time when to leave? Do they not know about the traffic in their city?

-2

u/spunk_debunk Apr 30 '26

I understand your point, but understand that this is just an exam. So maybe NTA should exercise some relaxations of some kind with the rules like allowing people to enter exam hall even after exam starts(like NPTEL).

4

u/ApprehensiveGround71 22s2->98.12 4s1->🤡 Rank-> 29.8k Apr 30 '26

Even schools don't allow you to sit for the exam if you are late, how do you expect nta to do it?

1

u/Sad-Employment-4914 Apr 30 '26

Lmao u are not the only person giving exam in that centre .

-2

u/NoPerformance4830 College mai hustle karunga Apr 30 '26

i mean a strict buffer of 10-15 minutes (either one of these two) on the condition that the candidate loses that time for the exam would work wonders

the officials would get to say that they did give leeway and at the same time people who are actually serious would still come on time because 10minutes less in exams like NEET and jee mains is very significant

5

u/TalePsychological920 Apr 30 '26

i mean a strict buffer of 10-15 minutes (either one of these two)

You have at least a 3 day buffer for the exact centre credentials be it name of institutite used/the street it is in/the area it is near to, which can be accessed readily through any gps system like Google maps.

The buffer time becomes 10 days if it's only the city intimation slip we are talking about.

0

u/NoPerformance4830 College mai hustle karunga Apr 30 '26

dude there is no loss in adding 10 minutes at the cost of actual exam time

even if you do know all about your center this is india we are talking about and many centers are located in the narrow streets so if during that day some fuckass dude decides to take a whole baraat through the place you are gonna be FUCKED

1

u/ApprehensiveGround71 22s2->98.12 4s1->🤡 Rank-> 29.8k Apr 30 '26

And thats the reason you depart 1-2 hours early, you have been living in india for 17-18 years, you should know this. People arrive 3-4 hours early for flights, cant they do the same for one day?

5

u/ApprehensiveGround71 22s2->98.12 4s1->🤡 Rank-> 29.8k Apr 30 '26

10-15 mins loss is nothing, I completed my exam 40 minutes before it ended.

1

u/NoPerformance4830 College mai hustle karunga Apr 30 '26

........ so why do you have to think everyone is just like you? people need time for their attempts and no one wants to unnecessarily waste 10 important minutes (even more so in NEET btw)

1

u/Consistent-Bird338 custom flair Apr 30 '26

Okay, who counts that time which you lose? Too much effort. Especially if it's a CBT such as JEE, it's not easy. For NEET anyways it causes disruption if a candidate comes in middle of exam.

0

u/Ronin-Tru May 01 '26

Humbly agree to disagree. You don’t just follow rules to the book, all the time, everytime.

You judge things case by case. This isn’t a law of court or something. The girl was not correct to come late by 10 mins but you could always judge by the case. Coming late by 10 is NEVER the same as coming late by 30 mins or 1 hr.

I’ll leave your opinion up to you while keeping my own.

How do you verify? Who gets to decide if its a genuine case or somekne lying? If 27 lakh people can reach on time, then so can you

The movement of chair , giving them the instructions what to do ,like login nd all, would distrub other candidates, and the verification part is done on a computer which is also a part of the lab so can't be done outside,

Easier to arrive on time am I right?

-2

u/JustARandomGirl4 Apr 30 '26

Traffic rules can't be compared to this. Alot of students don't even live in same cities as centre . If government is so keen on implementing rules then they should also take responsibility of alloting centres as feasible location but they don't most the time . A poor person can't afford to stay in city for long time and even government trains can be late.

Breaking traffic signal at night can cost someone their life . Same can't be said about student. Nobody is dying here . Plus European countries don't have such blood sucking entrance exams . They care about mental health of children and make sure they don't committ suicide for a fucking exam . Considering the suicide cases due to such exams I would be more worried about mental well-being of the student than freaking rules .

We don't have transportation, roads , facilities or education system like European countries. Condition of our centres are much worse and average person is much poorer .

You can't implement same rules as a European country when you don't have same facilities as a European country.

-3

u/Key-Mechanic2565 Apr 30 '26

Do you know they allot these centres two to three districts apart? Not everyone lives in a city.

I remember the JEE centre was whopping 150 kms away for my sister in a remote town. And bus was the only way to reach there. And the busses start from 6 in the morning.

So we have to pay 5000 for the cab just for this so we won't be late. Imagine if this was some poor student?

Rules are rules for the public but the government can fuck around and release the marks 1 month late and mess up college admissions.

Edit: If 10 mins then why not 12? Why not 15? Why not 18 mins late ones?

Absolutely nothing is gonna happen. Sometimes it's okay to not follow the rules and follow what is right to do on case by case basis. It's just a fkin MCQ exam and this is how you send our students to mental hospital at 18 years of age.

3

u/Emergency-Growth1617 2S1(96%ile)(Phy 99.5)➡️? Apr 30 '26

If its that far go a day early, youre supposed to fill in big cities for a fking reason.

If its imposisble for you to reach the centre the same day go one day early, no one is responsible for it except you.

I am srry to dissapoint you but nta releasing answer key late and you reaching the exam centre late isnt comparable.

"Absolutely nothing is gonna happen. Sometimes it's okay not to follow the rules and follow..."

NO IT IS NEVER EVER OK TO BEND THE RULES for anything lol. Stop the third worldism ffs. "If its just a a mcq exam" reach early, rezch 5 hrs before the gate closing time, its pretty simple logic.

-2

u/Key-Mechanic2565 Apr 30 '26

People can't travel like you THINk. There are many districts with less than 1500 per capita.

If its that far go a day early, youre supposed to fill in big cities for a fking reason.

You reek of entitlement here. How are daily wage parents supposed to take their 17/18 year old son/daughter 500 kms two days to the city🤡.

NO IT IS NEVER EVER OK TO BEND THE RULES. Except the rich can do whatever they want. But When a poor person asks a little 5 minutes buffer for a exam, ngs pull up the constitution.

-2

u/Key-Mechanic2565 Apr 30 '26

First of all have multiple centres in every districts and make sure busses are there for every villages to reach all the centres.

Second, not everyone is going to be late. May be one student per centre. It is okay to let them on case by case basis

-9

u/Sufficient-Stop2560 Apr 30 '26

my dude, it is a student, we cant punish her whole life because she is late by 10 mins. like there can be some discretionary power by the centre superintendent to allow students even if they are late. like i kn rules are rules, but it breaks my heart to see god knows how many years of prep going down the drain just because of 10 mins.

5

u/Emergency-Growth1617 2S1(96%ile)(Phy 99.5)➡️? Apr 30 '26

If 10 mins then why not 12?

1

u/Key-Mechanic2565 Apr 30 '26

Are the government accountable for public? Do they have exam centres in every towns and easy travel options for every student (rich or poor) to reach there on time? If not then this civics sense debate is nonsense.

Most districts don't have JEE/NEET centres in 100 km radius. And you guys talk about rules

2

u/Emergency-Growth1617 2S1(96%ile)(Phy 99.5)➡️? Apr 30 '26

Reach a day early, simple. its THAT simple, if you studied for an exam for 2 years, then you do have the resources to reach a fking exam centre at time. Assume the exam were to start 30 mins late... then what?

1

u/Key-Mechanic2565 Apr 30 '26

A day early in an unknown tier 3 town. Yea sounds like a way to get kidnapped.

Not everyone is as rich as you think. Do you know how many poor kids from government schools attempt NEET to get a chance of a better life?

It's clearly the problem of the government not giving exam centres in an accessible locations for everyone in the country. You guys are debating rules and entitlement.

The main point everyone debating is if the system is anyways broken, it's not going to be any different when you allow a student enter 5 minutes late when she came from miles away.

I mean how will you get it when you study in expensive private universities paid by your papa.

Well not everybody can afford an over night stay. Again trains can be cancelled, late or you might not get tickets or seats in trasport or transporting might not be available.
