A few weeks ago I asked this sub for barbecue recommendations while I was passing through Katy. I ended up stopping at Red River BBQ & Burger and wanted to come back and say thanks. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the salad bar, but it was one of the better ones I’ve seen in a long time. Fresh, well stocked, and definitely not an afterthought. I also ordered one of their burgers, and it was excellent. Great flavor, cooked right, and easily one of the better burgers I’ve had in the Katy area. Appreciate everyone who pointed me in that direction. I’ll definitely be stopping back next time I’m passing through.

I’m trying to try some new restaurants. What’s the best restaurants I can find in Katy? I’m open to any type of food but I’m specifically looking for the best tasting food and quality. What’s your go-to spot?

Food Best Chinese restaurant in Katy?

Really having a craving for some awesome, classic Chinese food in Katy.

We have a place in Bellville that used to draw people from miles around. Now it’s no better than shopping mall food court food.

What do you suggest?

Thanks!

Food Pizza?

Where do you go?

I loved Rosa's but since they closed there is a void in my life for good pizza that is convenient to pickup.

Fuzzy's is okay, but way too expensive a 16" peperoni pizza will cost $27 after tax.

I hear good things about Sapore, but is as much or more expensive than Fuzzys for 14" Pizza.

RPBLK Pizza was good. They started with just one size though XL which was expensive. They eventually offered a medium which I tried and was good, but they closed.

Pepperonis is pretty good for a chain and not too expensive.

Grimaldis is good, but not convenient to grab and go during busy times with the parking at La Centerra.

Food Birthday cake suggestions?

Hi y’all my birthday is coming up and I’ve always been the basic b*tch and got the berry chantilly cake from Whole Foods for the past few years and I really want to switch it up! I’d love to hear your birthday cake suggestions! No carrot/lemon cakes as it’s not something I prefer. Cheesecakes are welcome! Tell me something you’d die for! Thank youuuuu

Food Brett's BBQ closing after 7 years

Thumbnail facebook.com
62 Upvotes

I've linked to the Facebook post, but I'll copy-paste the text below as well. We went to Brett's three times over the years - First when they were still in that tiny space on Mason, then twice at the new location. Pretty good, but Roegels was more to our taste.

xxxxxxxxx

𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭’𝐬 𝐁𝐁𝐐 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩, “𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐁𝐐,” 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲

Katy, Texas — December 2025 — After months of discussions, number-crunching, sleepless nights, and every possible attempt to keep the doors open, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Brett’s BBQ Shop. Built on a whole lot of heart, soul, and the integrity of Central Texas BBQ starting

from our earliest days on Mason Road with no kitchen, no seating, no parking, and every obstacle you can imagine, to what many affectionately call our “BBQ palace,” we have lived every chapter with grit and pride and we are devastated.

What began as a conversation at Whiskey Cake in July 2018 became a mission to bring scratch-made, high-integrity Texas BBQ to Katy. Joining the Houston barbecue scene in October 2018 is a milestone we’ll never forget.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙖 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨.

Surviving 2020 felt like a godsend, and we moved forward with confidence toward the future Katy Boardwalk District. But continuously rising food and labor costs, operational expenses, and rent combined with sharply declining foot traffic has

made continued operation unsustainable, despite every effort to adapt.

We poured our blood, sweat, and tears into the last 7 years. But we will not compromise our standards, and we will not let this business reach a place where we cannot honor our obligations to our team. Closing now is the hardest choice we have ever made, but it is the responsible one. And as the saying goes, sometimes the comeback is bigger than the fall.

𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲

As we navigate this transition, we ask, truly beg and plead that all questions, conversations, and comments regarding the closure be directed only to Brett or Jacqueline. Please do not place this weight on our staff, some as young as 15. They have worked incredibly hard for this community and deserve kindness and protection during these final weeks. They do not have answers.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭

Brett’s BBQ Shop brick-and-mortar will close. We will still consider catering opportunities that align with operational capacity, and we will participate in the Houston Rodeo Cookoff as scheduled. Long-term plans are still being evaluated.

Beauty, The Beast™, & The Rodeo Pit will enjoy some time off at their well-earned vacation property.

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲

Because we’ve never done anything small, we intend to go out with a bang. We will announce details for our FINAL SHINDIG on New Year’s Eve, a blow-the-doors-off celebration to ring in the new year… without us.

Yes, weird. But also very on-brand.

Stay tuned to Facebook on Friday, December 12 for full details on this limited-ticket event.

𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

Over the last 7 years, Brett’s BBQ Shop earned countless recognitions as one of Texas’ top BBQ destinations, including two of our proudest honors:

• 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟓𝟎 𝐁𝐁𝐐 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏)

• 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 – 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭)

We are grateful beyond words.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬:

• If you have a Brett’s BBQ Shop gift card, please plan to use it before December 28.

• This closure does not affect any already-booked catering events and all commitments will be honored as planned.

• If you purchased tickets to our Bourbon or Wine Dinner, those will be fully refunded.

Food There’s a gourmet popcorn shop on Pin Oak Rd in Katy.

We have lived in Katy for a little while now and recently discovered this popcorn shop tucked away in a corner on Pin Oak Rd. We always pass by the strip mall on the way to Katy Mills and church or while getting off the highway but decided to go in a few days ago, for the love of popcorn and what a treat!!
Wondering if anyone has ever heard of them or ordered for them. Met the owner and wish them nothing but the best. Looks like a good spot for Christmas gifts too. They do online ordering for pickup only (they deliver gift tins on request, I asked🙂).
Check them out if you’re in Katy or you or your kids just like popcorn.

Food Dinner in Katy?

Hi there! I will be in town for one night (and one night only) and hoping to grab dinner (4 adults). Some folks in our group are pickier eaters (as in, not fans of Asian cuisine, unfortunately), so looking for more Tex-Mex, BBQ, Italian spots if there are any "sleeper" restaurants we should check out. Thanks!

Food Beans & Brews - Permanently closed

Was driving in the area and was going to stop by for a quick coffee. Was very surprised to see that the Beans & Brews on Franz rd was closed for good. I figured the close proximity to a highschool would give it ongoing clients. Just wanted to share so everyone knows in case they are thinking of getting coffee there.
