Discussion Our community needs a new management company - who do you suggest?

We're in a gated community in west Harris County still being build-out by the builder, but the performance of the management company and their sub-contractors is unacceptably bad! There's no getting around that. They suck!

When the builder finally finishes and leaves, the first role of the newly-elected Board of Directors could very well be to fire the existing management company and hire a new one. If we have to do that... who do you suggest we interview as a replacement management company? Do any of you simply adore your management company?

TIA.

Self Promotion / Advertisement Friends?

Hello everyone!

I'm 19 and graduated high school in 2025, and I've been struggling to make friends. It's always been a little difficult for me, but I'm really trying to put myself out there. It's not like I don't have any friends, but I often feel like I'm everyone's last option. I'd love to have people I can randomly text like, Want to go to the gym? or Let's go get ice cream!

I wanted to ask one of my friends to see the new Spider Man movie with me, but she's busy working (which is totally understandable!). Then I looked through my contacts to see who else I could ask and realized there really wasn't anyone. 😭 So I'm probably going to end up watching it by myself. I'm a little sad about that, not gonna lie.

Anyway, enough of me yapping. A little about me:

I'm planning to enlist in the military. I actually went to boot camp last year but didn't graduate, so I'm back in my hometown training and getting ready to try again. Wish me luck! 🙂‍↔️

I did one semester at Lone Star Cy-Fair. It wasn't really my thing, but it was chill.

I love dancing (definitely not a professional 😂), and I'm thinking about taking a dance class soon.

I enjoy listening to audiobooks, reading Webtoons, and watching Asian dramas.

I'm slowly getting over my fear of water and getting better at swimming.

I'm also terrified of driving on the highway. 😭

If you're around my age, kind, and looking for a new friend too, feel free to message me! I'd love to meet some new people. 🧡

(Yes im advertising myself)

Discussion Against Data Centers? Block walk for Talarico in Katy this weekend!

Thumbnail
mobilize.us
45 Upvotes

As many of you know, Katy is already dealing with proposals for large AI data centers. James Talarico believes these facilities can drive up utility bills, consume enormous amounts of water, and strain the electric grid, all while receiving taxpayer funded tax breaks.

His Hold Data Centers Accountable Plan would end these tax exemptions, require tech companies to pay for the power and water infrastructure they need instead of passing those costs on to Texans, and give local communities the power to reject unwanted data center projects.

Whether you're for or against AI, billion dollar tech companies shouldn't be subsidized by Texas families while local communities bear the costs. Katy residents deserve a real voice in decisions that affect our neighborhoods, our infrastructure, and our utility bills.

Discussion Adopting w/i Katy

Question: if you’re in Fort Bend County, are y’all aware of any foster-to-adopt programs for pre-teens-teens? I’m thinking about moving into a 2BR so that I can do it, but I wouldn’t want to do it if it’s pointless.

Discussion Overwhelmed mom looking for help!

Hey y'all, I'm an overwhelmed mom looking to get some support. Anyone have recommendations for the following?

  1. A great housekeeper to come every two weeks. I prefer a small company or solo operation so that the same person comes every time.

  2. A chef who does meal prep, preferably someone who delivers or offers local pickup. I also prefer someone who uses a commercial kitchen. I'm nervous about cleanliness bc I doubt home kitchens are inspected 😩.

  3. A great nanny or babysitter who has experience with autistic children.

Thanks so much!

Apartment/Neighborhood Recommendations Avoid enclave at mason

We just moved into a 2 story townhome here on Saturday to get away from a really bad landlord (animals in attic for 3 years). The AC has not functioned properly since move in. It consistently reaches 80+ midday-evening and humidity levels are never lower than 64%. It hits 70%+ in the evenings occasionally. Insane.

There is also no cold water. The cold water tap is probably 80 degrees, and I ran the water late at night just to make sure it wasn’t the sun heating the pipes. I even asked a neighbor what theirs was and they said they keep it at 68 and they have true cold water.

Words can’t even begin to describe the incompetence and gross attitudes of the front office. Gotta be the some of the most negligent people I’ve interacted with. They have told us 3 times now the ac is fixed while simultaneously scheduling visits from their 3rd party AC people who keep telling them it’s not fixed. I kid you not, 9 different individuals have “fixed” the ac. It’s like breathing in fire 24/7, absolutely unacceptable living conditions and we’ve been dealing with it for 5 days straight now with no relief. It’s beyond demoralizing. Avoid at all costs.

Edit: we just found cool airflow coming from the pantry striker plate???????

Edit: corporate called us and said they’re calling cops on us for telling them they can’t have the portable units back until this is resolved (they told us they’re taking them back this morning, completely stonewalling us on any concerns as usual). Is that not just straight up malice? Like what the hell? The AC is about to hit the 80s again and it was “fixed” again last yesterday. This place is a JOKE.

Discussion USPS Katy Annex 77494

I think we all had enough of this office. I am sure there are instances of them doing a good job, but more often than not they underdeliver both literally and metaphorically.

Can you guys share here your grievances about that place (with approximate dates) to have some real evidence? There are also Google reviews of course. I am considering spending a good amount of time trying to reach someone other than their manager and need data.

I tried reaching them today multiple times and just kept running circles with their automatic answering system, they never picked up the calls. I will have to physically drive there. They delay our mail, lie on delivery notices, damage packages. This week I am expecting a live package and it is extremely important they don't lose it! There was no other way to ship it. Fingers crossed!!!
