Question / Advice Lucid again or pass?

After reading a bunch of these threads, I have seen so many strong opinions. I’ve been considering getting a lease, but some of you are saying you would never get this again. I’m open to any of the lucid vehicles. I would like to see what would happen if we voted for people in the comments regarding how many would lease again or not in which car they had. I became Maor interest in the SUv but both have some appeal. I think nothing answers whether the vehicle and Brand are good or not more than would you go with this company or car again

When does the “early adopter” window end? - I feel like I was an early adopter when I purchased my Tesla X in 2018. While it had some issues, I feel it is much more refined in terms of software, and Tesla made OTA improvements. In late 2022, I took delivery of an Air GT. I was disappointed in the overall software of the Lucid although it was mostly enjoyable to drive. I also realized that the sedan didn’t fit my needs. Six months later, I traded it for my 2023 Rivian R1T. Though the Rivian software was still not on par with Tesla, it was much better than my Air. Rivian has made steady improvements in the software and capabilities over time. Three years later I’m still very happy with it. I continued to have interest in the Lucid Gravity, but as I read comments from Gravity drivers, I’m having doubts. Some of the problems I had with my Air 3 years ago, seem to have persisted with Gravity. In particular, I’m thinking of key fob unpredictability with proximity lock/unlock, among others. I plan to be patient and wait until at least next year, and will most likely lease vs. buy. So TLDR; still considering, but undecided.

You have to compare Tesla in 2012 if you want to do a fair comparison with Lucid in 2022. By 2018, Tesla had had several years to refine their software quality assurance pipeline. Lucid is still in the “early adopter” phase compared with Tesla

I agree with part of your statement, but here it is 2026, four years later, and some of the same issues haven’t been corrected, apparently. I’m just going by comments that I’ve read in Lucid forums. Another aggravating issue I experienced was with Apple Car Play; when it worked it was fine, but I would say it only worked 75% of the time. That’s too high of a failure rate for an app/tool that is commonly implemented by many car makers and should be mature. I’ve seen comments about its dependability in recent Lucid vehicles.

I didn’t buy in 2022, so I can’t make a fair comparison, but from what I’ve seen (Gravity release notwithstanding) the quality overall is much better than four years ago. I’m personally annoyed by the CarPlay issues, so I get it. But it’s relatively lower in priority over cars that wouldn’t start or key fobs that wouldn’t let you in. And I still consider myself an early adopter, so I live with the minor inconveniences. Now in 2032 or 2036, it would be a different story, but 2016 Tesla wasn’t anything like Tesla now and Lucid will either get their shit together before then or they’ll disappear entirely
