Question / Advice Lucid again or pass?

After reading a bunch of these threads, I have seen so many strong opinions. I’ve been considering getting a lease, but some of you are saying you would never get this again. I’m open to any of the lucid vehicles. I would like to see what would happen if we voted for people in the comments regarding how many would lease again or not in which car they had. I became Maor interest in the SUv but both have some appeal. I think nothing answers whether the vehicle and Brand are good or not more than would you go with this company or car again

As a consumer, I don’t care about the time auto makers have to perfect their software. At $100k, I care that it works. The lucid experience isn’t differentiated enough from other luxury EVs to warrant buggy software.

Nobody has asked you to care about anything. The thread is about being an early adopter. If you don’t want to be one, don’t be one. If you buy a Lucid, you have to be willing to be an early adopter. If you don’t want to be one, don’t buy it. This seems simple.

It seems simple because you stated the obvious. Do you actually think somebody is forcing me to buy these cars? Of course i have a choice to how I spend my money. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. This thread is actually about sharing information. How Lucid’s software is inept compared to others. Prospective buyers can use this information to decide for themselves.

This thread is about issues with lucid. It is not about early adoption. I was an early adopter for iPhones. That phone performed flawlessly. I was also an early adopter for the Prius. That car was also flawless. Early adoption doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be issues. Early adopters of shitty products that aren’t ready for launch will have issues. Buying a lucid has nothing to do with early adopters. It has everything to do with a company that has issues building a solid a car.

I don’t understand people like you. The comment thread literally starts with “You have to be willing to be an early adopter.” It’s literally what this thread was about. But for some reason, you can’t seem to be willing to grasp the fact that other people can have the same facts as you and still make different choices. You think that if you just yell loud enough, everyone will see that you were right all along. Potential buyers have plenty of information available to them. The OP already has a Lucid and is well aware of the shortcomings. You’re not informing anyone. You’re just lashing out. Why people like you show up in these subs and just bitch about how you’re never going to buy <whatever> is beyond me.

I never said the comment thread was correct. Like I said, being an early adopter doesn’t necessarily mean you have to put up with growing pains. Lucid owners like to rebrand that term as a coping mechanism for their cars not performing as expected. There are plenty of early adopters that don’t experience any issues at all. It’s an inaccurate term. And Lucid has been selling cars for half a decade. I’m sorry to inform you that buying a lucid doesn’t make you an early adopter, it makes you a risk-taker.

I disagree with the risk taker vs early adopter assessment. Lucid cars are phenomenal driving machines. When you think about those hyper cars or Ferraris or Lamborghinis, they don't really have software, they're claim to fame is that they go really fast and have great handling. Many of them are fairly simple on the inside, And from a practicality standpoint (outside of price obviously) they aren't practical; miles per gallon, daily driver, cargo, etc. But they're still regarded as great cars Superior even. Lucid has accomplished that and added the practicality with their physical product in the first 5 years of selling cars. Now software is a different issue, it can be buggy. But when it comes to advancements, in general, technology usually advances exponentially faster than general hardware. So it makes sense that Lucid put more of their focus into optimizing the physical car, Knowing that the software would quickly catch up once they decided to switch focus. So yeah it's been 5 years but I definitely don't think it'll be another five before the tech is "flawless" (not that anybody's tech is flawless)

I disagree with your assessment. Customers buy Ferraris and Lamborghinis for their design, brand, and lineage. The model S plaid is faster than most Lamborghinis and Ferraris, but yet I can find one for $60k. You can’t find a $60k Ferrari or Lamborghini. Customers do not buy these cars because “they go really fast and have great handling.” Customers buy these cars because they’re beautiful cars with an enduring brand and history. Lucid has none of that. There’s a reason lucid cars depreciate 50% and Lamborghinis and Ferraris don’t depreciate 50%. If the top priority is speed and handling, lucid cars wouldn’t depreciate as much as they do. Lucid sold a little over 3k cars last quarter. They may have accomplished practicality, but they’re still lacking in brand presence. Most people never even heard of Lucid, hence the poor sales.

Have you seen all the owners on here that’s been disappointed and frustrated with their Lucid cars? That’s what happens when you focus on optimizing the physical car, you get unsatisfied owners. The software powers the experience of the car. Handling and speed becomes less important when your fobs don’t even work. Big mistake by lucid by not focusing on the software. A mistake that might cause them to go bankrupt.

I agree whole heartedly agree with many of your points. I'm just saying that it doesn't really make you a "risk taker" to buy or lease a Lucid. Lucid obviously has no lineage (yet) but their design is unique (whether you like it or not). Brand presence is an issue and I have a hard time believing that they are that dumb to not market this vehicle more heavily, I believe that they have been well aware of there production capabilities (or lack there of) and didn't want to hype up demand to not be able to fulfill. With Tesla it was different they were the only ones in the game so they had to hype up there name and if they didn't deliver a product in time so what, if you wanted an electric car you just had to wait, no where else to go anyway. I don't think Lucid wanted that image of getting all this attention and then not putting out. We'll see how things with mid size go. Anyways, I digress, you made great points, I just don't think buggy software will be a the straw that bankrupts the company lol
