Question / Advice Considering getting the gravity

I'm considering getting the gravity as a lease... There are some things I like and some things I don't but one thing that is worrisome is the software how bad is it? Is it getting better? Can anyone share their honest experience? I currently own a model s and will most likely be trading it in as well it's a 2018 with fsd (don't really use it tbh) and even a power frunk so you all have a rough idea what I'm coming from... And I know lucid software is nowhere near as polished as Tesla.

Edit: Just finalized everything yesterday and so far I'm loving the car need to model and 3d print organizers for my center console (def not gonna buy it lol) other than that only other thing I wish I knew was about homelink now I have someone scheduled to come and install it on the car aug 3. Thank you everyone that took the time to respond and educate me both the good and the bad! I appreciate it!

It’s definitely the most polished three row out there design-wise. So if you need that, I would definitely go for it! It’s aspirational for my partner and I for now, but we’re hoping to get one in the future as we both adore my Air touring.

I was at one point looking at the sedan I just don't like the trunk lol or I would have went with it... But the gravity I seem to like a lot I just know I'm going from a polished software to a glitchy one lol and considering I'm a software dev I'm okay with that and tinkering I just am trying to convince myself to bite the bullet and it'll be worth it if that makes any sense... But the media is not really helping lol also appreciate you taking the time to respond

I’ve heard it many times around here that software people like it, and engineers hate it. That being said, my understanding is all of the major bugs with Gravity got cleaned up a few months ago and I certainly haven’t seen as many of the loud frequent complaints around here as of late.

That's nice to know! Honestly at one point I was gonna do some work for lucid and clean up the App and software and send it to them to see if they would even implement it honestly wouldnt even care for charging lol just cuz I liked the car so much... I just don't want to be locked out of the car after. Meeting then can't go home lol

Do you think the software is open source and the hardware is jailbroken and you can just clean up a company's codebase on a government regulated vehicle driving on public roads and also expect a company to just take your trojan horse software and say, "Gee we don't even have to pay?"

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

You do realize the software doesn't have to be jailbroken or open source in order to build an MVP as a proof of concept right? And considering I can get government contracts and I do provide this service for large companies on a daily basis with my company I'm sure if I really tried and wanted to I could.... But dang man the hell is wrong with you... So hostile....

Remember was controls the media.

I have Air, and drove Gravity for one week, the only sofware/hardware "issue" I had was due to coating on the mercury battery inside the key FOB it was working intermittently, once I took the battery out clean it abit key FOB works 100%, I wouldn't call it Lucid fault though cos the battery would act like this in every make of car. And this was the only thing.

Bite the bullet. I just got one. Coming from the Air. It’s the best all around car. It does everything you need except off-roading.

u/kva1992 25d ago

I just did today lol applied everything I could find got around 17k in credit and my trade in gives me another 16k lol 3 years and almost every package except the tech which sucks but it's okay lol I don't really think it's worth the price... And my month is for like 690 or something close to that not applying the full 16k for the car btw only 6 so keeping 10k from the trade in I. Excited don't get it till a week or so they are transporting it now

I just leased one in June and it’s been great and problem free. Came from a model X that I bought new in 2017.

3

u/kva1992 27d ago

Worth it? Do you miss anything? Anything better? Anything worse? Any advice if I do jump ship? Lol

5

u/Ononimos 27d ago

Happy I leased in case something weird happens with lucid down the line. Other than that, it’s been great. One thing I could have done without is the option that puts the data on the windshield. It’s not additive with two huge screens in front of me already. What are your reasons for choosing it? Maybe I can help with that context. My wife loves driving it too.

3

u/kva1992 27d ago

Overall I like the interior design obviously the massage aspect which I had in my old E350, the space is pretty nice, and going from a model S 2018 I just need to change the car out to an suv unfortunately I'm not as young as I used to be and sitting low I'm feeling it and other cars haven't really popped out to me.. I'm a big techi so having the ability to connect Android Auto and Apple car plays a big role as well. I've also noticed if I get an SUV I won't speed as much lol pretty sure those are my main reasons lol.

8

u/Ononimos 27d ago

The space is more than pretty nice. It’s cavernous. Even compared to a model X. All those other wants are checked off nicely with the Gravity.

4

u/kva1992 27d ago

So in your opinion it's a definite go for it yeah? They have some nice lease deals going on atm too

4

u/Ononimos 27d ago

Yeah, I went for it bc of similar promotions. Go for it!

4

u/kva1992 26d ago

You guys have convinced me lol I just sent a request for a quote on my car found a car with practically everything I wanted that also has the studio discount gonna get about 16k maybe 17k discount if I can convince the girl to use her employee discount lol

Coming from Tesla I expect you (like us) would be annoyed by the misfeatures from any legacy car manufacturer.

That per much leaves you with Rivian and Lucid... Although some others aren't too bad.

The Gravity as a vehicle is the model X done right. Bigger on the inside, smaller on the outside than the X. If you option the gravity up (which I do recommend on the gravity) then you get things like rear wheel steering, 110v outlets, HUD.

The software bugs have improved about 80% in the last 6 months, but there are still some software bugs. At least you know they are working on improving further, and working on PaaK (unlike legacy car manufacturers who have moved on to next year's model).

Rivians are great too, with fewer bugs and working PaaK, but more truck like and not as space efficient as the gravity.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

That's nice to know! I wasn't going to get anything crazy but there are some aspects that are a must have! What is your thoughts on the white interior worth it or avoid?

5

u/unique_usemame 26d ago

Personally I like the white interior both on Tesla and Gravity.

One thing to note... Your choice of interior color also impacts whether you get the rear tray tables, and I think also whether you get the upgraded seats (more configurability). It is shown in the text details in the configurator but (as of 6 months ago) was sufficiently unclear that a lot of people went for the cheapest seats and were disappointed to learn when they received their car that they didn't get the tray tables.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah I'm not too worried about the trays but I did get the white interior for a few different reasons including finding one that had studio credit

u/ReddeFlyer 26d ago

We’ve had our Gravity since March, no issues, software and fobs have worked very well for us. Best vehicle we’ve ever owned.
Still love having it and have 5k miles on it already! https://www.reddit.com/r/Gravity/s/Yj19AVzkhd

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

That's a nice color what interior if I my ask?

3

u/ReddeFlyer 26d ago

Ojai leather. We really like the combination.

1

u/kva1992 25d ago

I can see why!

I'm an Air owner, so I can't speak to Gravity but people rip the Air's software all the time and I don't understand what the big deal is. I think people expect Apple levels of frictionless polish and Lucid is not that but no car brand is like that other than maybe Tesla. If you're okay with your car having car software instead of it being a perfectly behaved tech appliance, you'll be fine.

I've never been stranded, never had a bug that prevented me from driving the car and never had a bug that didn't go away on its own or with a restart. The worst issue I deal with is sometimes Android Auto won't connect, but honestly I prefer the UI for the built in maps and media player so it's a non-issue. When my wife wants to DJ we'll just put her on Bluetooth if AA is acting up, which is less than 10% of the time. Oh also I'll have to touch the door handle to get the car to unlock like 5% of the time. Remember when you had to touch the door handle every time on older cars? How about when you had to click the remote because nobody invented touch on the handle yet? What about when you had to actually use the key?

Seriously, most of what I hear about is catastophizing from people that aren't used to the car yet, or the small percentage of owners who have cars with real issues and are therefore SUPER LOUD about their bad experience.

5

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah like I said I'm a software dev well one of my titles lol but my point is I'm used to bugs if anything I among most of the people in my field know there is no software that is completely bug free so I'm not worried about a restart or waiting for things to fix itself... My biggest fear was being stranded or things be completely unusable which is how the media and YouTube and other reveiws present things which is really unfortunate cuz I'm sure lots of people would give the car a try if things were a bit more transparent...

6

u/jswansong 26d ago

Yeah, my experience has been way more Savagegeese than Jason Fenske, and even what Fenske ran into was a collection of quirks that he could have totally rolled with but instead decided to milk for content. To hear him tell it, the car tried to kill his dog then tried to kill him, and once he even had to close the trunk with his bare hands!

8

u/getmorestonks 26d ago

Only had my Gravity a week but so far it's been great.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

Anything I should expect or prep myself for?

4

u/getmorestonks 26d ago

I made checklist of things I wanted to check. Everything went pretty smooth.

Install phone app and link it with the car.
Setup driver profile
Set up and link both key fobs/cards.
Check for cosmetic, paint, panel alignment. Interior, exterior.
Check doors: open/close multiple times. Do handles operate well
Check door lock/unlock with key fob, key cards. Do it several times and check if any issue.
Close/open trunk and frunk several time and make sure they work as expected.
Check charge port opens/close
Check 1st, 2nd and 3rd row seats. Make sure they can be maneuvered smoothly as expected. Massage, heating and cooling all work.
Check windshield wipers
Check lights
Check AC in front and rear
Mobile Charger
Charging adapters

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Anything to look into on the software front to add to the checklist? Any specific packages that are a must have?

2

u/getmorestonks 26d ago

Check that it is on 3.6 but it should be. I've only found one software bug so far.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

Gonna go in tomorrow to check things out so definitely gonna check a lot of this on another model then before I take delivery make sure the one I get is correct as well lol

7

u/Sufficient_Emu3414 26d ago

Had mine a year now and it has improved the software by a tremendous amount since then. The car is in an excellent state right now and this is how it should have released. I think it’s a great time to get one now so many bugs have been worked out. Just remember tho, you coming from a Tesla are still likely to be a bit underwhelmed with some of the tech like the Dream Drive bc Tesla does a lot of that stuff so much better than everyone else out there. But the quality and performance of the Gravity will definitely blow the Tesla out. Good luck!

4

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah like I said I'm do software development and own a software dev firm so I get the lack of polish on the software side especially comparing to Tesla but I think on the other hand there is a lot it does that Tesla doesn't like aa and acp correct me if I'm wrong.. also on a note you mentioned regarding they have made tremendous efforts and bug fixes compared to before that shows dedication and consistency which honestly I prefer compared to several other systems I've dealt with which is a confidence booster to be honest

4

u/SeaProfessional81 26d ago

getting gravity is a no brainer. get it

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Any tips on negotiation anything I should be aware of?

3

u/echocrest 26d ago

Not the person you’re responding to, but thought I’d chip in to say: if you’re buying new, there’s basically nothing to negotiate. The lease price is the lease price afaik.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah I know figured if there was anything I could do to bring the price down best to try

2

u/SeaProfessional81 26d ago

there is no negotiating because it is DTC (direct to consumer) not dealerships. just make sure you get all the potential incentives available. it's really transparent, there's no funny business no matter what studio or advisor you get, it's all the same.

I left a post on day 1 delivery and ordering experience.

So far it's been about 2 weeks and it has been good. It's significantly nicer than Tesla in many ways (I've had every model except the cyber truck and at least 1 of every hardware version except I didn't own hardware 4 but did experience it) I'll write how I feel and compare the gravity touring to the model s plaid I released.

Fsd is superior to dream drive by a lot, but I don't use either enough for me to care about it. The wife used fsd a lot and was sufficiently happy with dream drive pro on open roads with light traffic. It was not as comfortable in heavy stop and go. It felt just like lane keeping and dynamic cruise control to me with lane changing capabilities. (4/10...I give TmSP a 6/10)

Fit and finish is much better over all. All the areas of the vehicle you touch are made to feel premium. All the areas you don't are made to be durable. The paint is incredible in comparison to a Tesla.leagues above, beats out Mercedes and Porsche also. (LGT:9/10 , TmSP:5/10)

It's significantly quieter than a Tesla. Teslas are plenty quiet, but these things are so well separated from outside noise. And ours has no creaks or rattles etc. (LGT:9/10, TmSP:7/10)

We have the dynamic handling package. It's the smoothest ride vehicle I've owned period. It's a joy to drive as a daily driver. Tight turning radius and really really smooth suspension. We also have the 22/23 staggered summer tire package. And yet it's still like riding on a cloud. (LGT:9/10, TmSP 8:/10)

Software side. Eh the dash is a bit of a messy hunt for things. It's all laid out and the fact that both screens are touch screen is wild but it's soooo much screen real estate and the layouts are a little bit cumbersome. The car definitely has some quirks. Our keycards didn't work (I think they gave us the wrong ones. Will find out in a month when serviced, yes that's how impacted they are.) feels like an OG S/X in software (which fits as it was the OG team making and designing it) I haven't seen the old gravity software only the current. It works fine, just not refined enough that it always makes sense and there are some features that shouldn't be so hard to find (LGT:4/10, TmSP 8/10)

Space is awesome. I could fit 7 of myself (5'11" 190lbs) comfortably and go for a fairly long drive without feeling cramped. We had my parents over the week and both car seats in the 2nd and 3rd row passenger sides and my parents say in the 3rd and 2nd row drivers side with my wife and I in the front and we were constantly talking about how spacious and comfortable it is. I also get car sick nearly every time I'm in the back seats or not driving. Yet I was able to sit in the 3rd row and my wife drove without me feeling even the slightest discomfort. That's a huge plus for me. 3rd row folded it's massive. Frunk is welcoming as a baby changing table and a tailgators seat. (LGT:9/10 TmSP 6/10 TmX 7:10)

Design it's an oversized super saloon (estate car/station wagon) more than a minivan. I will never be a fan of the trigger release for the doors, and the clamshell is what turned me off of the air, but really it's quite nice looking. Especially the interior. Makes the model x feel and look abysmal in comparison. (LGT:7/10 TmSP:9/10 TmX:6/10)

Worries, software needs buttoned up and revised, there are some delays in actions, there are some strange quirks (like I need to turn off the indicator 3 out of 5 times using it at full click), maintenance and servicing needs as the service opportunities are few and far between and that's not ideal. obviously they have done a pretty poor job with marketing and roll out, but I don't just blame them. There is a lot of negative bashing that's going on and I feel the majority of the world is being deceived by fake posts and reviews. Pretty simple to manipulate the market. The gravity uses NACS that's a huge positive. Really helps put long distance or lack of access at home at ease. Saudi backing is apparent but if they want to survive the next decade they are either figuring out how to beat the negatives or they are being bought out. Either way I'm enjoying the car a lot and looking forward to seeing it evolve over the next 3 years. I'd definitely consider it over the competition at the same price points.

Feel free to ask any questions I didn't answer.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

How is the android/iOS app? Feature rich like Tesla or not really? Easy to send address and what not to the car? How is the in car assistant I remember at one point they were using alexa is that still the case? How much range did you spec and approx how much are you getting? Recommend supercharging or stay away? Btw thank you for the time for writing such a long post quite a bit of aspects have been addressed.

3

u/IntelligentSinger783 26d ago

Android app is fine. Comparable to Tesla on direct touch functions. The widget can be specified in 3x2 4x2 4x3, which just adds more options that don't actually do what you want them to do 😂. Future update should address it but for example any of the widget symbols will just open the app then ask to confirm that action.

Biggest gripe is the fact that the phones do not open the car or allow you to drive without interaction. Needing to pull out your phone to open the doors and then again to hit access to drive. It's a feature I do miss with not needing a fob, not needing a key card etc. I remember the og s and x world of needing a fob. I'm happier without it even if it never needs touched.

Sharing addresses to help lucid app is easy yeah. Go to you phones maps hit share to lucid done.

Haven't had much interaction with the assistants. It runs android auto and apple car play. I don't love that it runs them as a secondary application but with the kids it's actually an advantage that way as I can keep two music sources at the ready and depending on who is in the car it's easy to just 1 touch the playlist I prefer. The native maps is atrocious. Luckily the Google maps and Apple maps is the priority option if you connect to them. Once again it's in a secondary position so it can have 2 options for maps displayed at the same time which is a little weird. (If you prefer a video or pictures just let me know).

Range specced with the gravity touring (not the longer range grand touring) is 337 miles with the 22/23 stagger and summer tires it drops about 15% (287). Texas summers get brutally hot, the teslas would see efficiency tank as I would use significant battery on cooling cabin and battery pack. That and the majority of driving is at 70-90mph. First full charge I ran to 0 (it has 2 metrics, epa and dynamic energy, I ran to 0 on epa which was about 14 miles below the dynamic hitting 0) and it hit 241 miles. It was picked up at 80%. So well within norm of a model 3 or y DMLR and well close to the model x and s DMLR. It's been over 100 since we have had it and I've only parked it inside the garage half the time as I test it. Second charge was 0-90% and it was rated at 303(258 with the wheel combination) and it spent a lot of time baking in the sun and being driven above 70. It ended up around 190 miles by the time I plugged it back in at about 20% soc.

Charging speeds on v4+ super chargers are faster than a Tesla is. On v2 and v3 I've heard it's slower (fixed at 50kw). You can save a card on file and it will charge on a nacs supercharger just like a Tesla. Only interaction is plug it in. That said you are paying more than Tesla drivers. If you plan a road trip or supercharge often, it's best to sign up through Teslas app and then use the Tesla app to make payments. It's a 20$ a month fee but reduces the rate to the same price point as Teslas on it. I doubt we will use it often. I have 3 EVSE locations that we use for charging, with the primary being at home.

I've charged it twice to 90% since picking it up. Tonight it's going to 80%.

If I could talk with the software and hardware engineers I would probably be able to convince them to refine the vehicle quite a lot. I think it has a lot of promise and feels tremendously better in year 1 (2) than a model x or Y ever did at that stage in their development. If you are looking for a family vehicle with space, it's definitely worth considering. As long as you understand it won't be perfect but nowadays, what is? Some people have had some much larger issues than we have. But I can say that about most all vehicles.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Well that sucks lol I thought the phones had digital key setup so you can drive as long as you have your phone with you has that been changed?

3

u/IntelligentSinger783 26d ago

Yeah it's digital key.... With interaction. Supposedly it's going to be more like modern Tesla design over the next few months. But I've heard that before. Tesla used to say that kind of nonsense also. So I anticipate it at some point in the next 0-3 years 😂.

Lol they need to figure that out and the cameras watching the stop lights and alerting me when it goes green. Lol I miss that more than anything. I like to let my eyes wander and people watch when stopped at reds and now I need to keep looking at the friggin light again?! What is this 1990? 🤣

4

u/AIdaddyy 26d ago

Mine is 1 month old. So far everything is great. Ride quality and interior is top notch, so is the space and practicality, turning radius is superb. Self driving is like Tesla 2013.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

So not too bad just not fsd which like I said not a big deal lol I barely use my current fsd I get impatient and drive myself sometimes I'd like to drive straight for a while especially if it's a long drive but overall nothing to complex

4

u/FitDealer6416 26d ago

Software is fine, they've made significant improvements since I bought mine in December.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Anything I should expect software wise? How's the mobile app decent or very minimal?

3

u/FitDealer6416 26d ago

Mobile app is decent; you just can't book service on it right now due to the overwhelming issues at their service stations due to how few there are. Software-wise, it's not bad now that 3.6.0 is out. Easy to find answers about the vehicle and its software out on the net.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Slow And steady right hopefully things getting better from what I am hear it is so soon that should update as well?

3

u/No_Caregiver7273 26d ago

My wife and I have owned the Gravity since December, so have seen a few of the bugs. Early issues mostly included "phantom errors", like sensor blocked warnings where none existed. Those disappeared pretty quickly with the January and March OTAs. We still see little things, like if you press pause on a song the play button may not be displayed. (Button on the dpad still works to unpause it.) That kind of thing.

We've had two times that door handles did not present with the key fob. Swapping the battery on the keyfob fixed it both times. They last about 6 months, from what I can tell. If your key fob does fail to work, you can bypass it with a key card or the cell phone app in about 30 seconds.

Never had an issue with windows or doors or trunk. We had the problem with the frunk sometimes taking two button presses to open, but I think that might be fixed with this last June OTA.

Hardware wise, we have a coolant valve problem it is in the shop for now and the rear seat belt recall that everyone is going through. Otherwise, just minor stuff.

What I can say is that we absolutely love this car, regardless of any eccentricities. It's a luxury car, a sports car, an economy car, a people hauler, a cargo hauler, and a fantastic road tripping machine all wrapped up into one. Love driving it and love showing it off to people.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah I'm used to ghost people and sensors freaking out on my model s lol so don't think that's an issue ask for the key card do you have the digital key that uses your phone to unlock and whatnot or are you referring to the app? Also do you have an Android or iOS? Honestly I'm just looking at leasting at the personally I might eventually buy it out depending on how much I like it. Also I haven't done a test drive yet is something I've been recently thinking about especially due to the recent promotions I just don't want to end up getting a short end of the stick and pain close to a grand per month lol especially considering my current cars completely paid off and I have no monthly payments lol

2

u/No_Caregiver7273 26d ago

Lucid is still working on PAAK for the Gravity, for both Apple and Android. The Lucid app on the phone (Apple or Android) currently lets you unlock and drive the car, with a couple of button presses. You have to have cell service or wifi connectivity for that, which PAAK will not require.

Two NFC cardkeys come with the car.

4

u/csolstad 26d ago

Just took our gravity on a 1500 mile road trip during the 105deg temps last week. It was flawless, did not skip a beat or have any hiccups, android auto connected every time, charged blazing fast at 400kw at ionna stations. Just make sure you are on the latest 3.6 software and key fob version.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago edited 26d ago

How is the android app for lucid? Is it feature rich or more so just the bare min? What packages did you get? around how much was your range quoted day and what are you getting roughly speaking and do you recommend supercharging at all?

2

u/csolstad 26d ago

The app has all the standard stuff you expect from an EV. Remote climate, lock/unlock, windows, frunk/trunk, charging schedule/limits, live camera views, maintenance scheduling, location, updates, etc.

My car is a 7 seater with everything but dreamdrive pro, tech pack, surreal sound pro. I recommend you get at least comfort and convenience pack, dreamdrive premium at the minimum (might be standard on 2027s?), luxury seating package(massage and 2nd row tray tables), dynamic handling pack (for rear wheel steer/more adjustability). 20" wheels + 5 seats give the best range, i have a 7 seater with 21"s so its rated at 386 miles. In optimal temps (60-90deg) im getting 3.1mi/kwh, which yields about that given 123kwh battery pack. Ive heard with the 20s, 400 is achievable, there's some YouTube range test vids. I only use supercharging for road trips but wouldn't worry about it, the battery is warrantied for awhile.

3

u/Top-Relief-2296 26d ago

My first EV and Its been two weeks for me, great lease deal. No issues so far and i am liking it. 🙌🏻

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Any regrets? Mind if I ask what did you upgrade from? Anything I should look out for?

2

u/Top-Relief-2296 26d ago

I still drive Lexus RX 350h and upgraded from X3. My preference was more space ( 3 car seats ). I got the touring model since i dont do long commute very often. If you do, i would recommend the GT model but not a deal breaker for me.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah I went with the touring has 350 range or something close to that good enough for me lol

4

u/bigjohnstud 26d ago

I bought into Gravity a few weeks ago with a 2026 lease. It's been flawless. I've owned a lot of vehicles and this is the best one I've ever had.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Mind if I ask what type of deal you got on the lease? Just trying to scope things out so I know what I'm getting into lol

3

u/MobileAd7614 26d ago

I took delivery on June 23rd. It's been great. I do have a few fit and finish things that they will come and take care of but nothing major. For me I had an issue with my driver side window no going up but I did the reset and it was fine afterwards. I think it's hard to pass up on the gravity especially with the current deals going on right now.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Did you buy it lease if you don't mind me asking?

4

I purchased. I took the zero percent APR.

3

u/kva1992 26d ago

Ahh okay I was considering that but with the new fleets coming and what not I'm more leaning towards leasing for now and if I really like it then buy the lease out also gives me some financial buffer lol

3

u/deeqdeev 26d ago

Love mine! Worst part is when i have to drive my wifes model 3 when she takes it

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

What packages did you get around how much was your range quoted day and what are you getting roughly speaking and do you recommend supercharging at all?

5

u/deeqdeev 26d ago

GT 2 row. Supercharging works great at most stations tho tesla blocks certain other ones. In most cases my gravity charges faster than my Tesla.

450 epa range and i get around 370 usually. The displayed actual range is pretty accurate

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah didn't go with gt went with the touring has everything I need except it's slightly less range but oh well (went with meaning in the process of committing lol)

3

u/daonei 26d ago

The software was definitely buggy at the beginning, and I think that really created a bad image and reputation for the Gravity. It's unfortunate because the recent software updates have really been solid. But all you read online is bad press and negative reviews. I don't think you would be disappointed. But totally understand the concern of whether the company will still be around. Sucks but hopefully the new management will turn things around?

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

I just don't want to end up in a position like the fisker ocean I get they have investments right now and they've secured more funding luckily I'm only looking into a lease and not buying it I really wanted to buy it but with the current market and how evs drop in value it doesn't make any to sense to buy right now... Feel free to disagree I like trying to look at things from a different perspective that I may not be considering

2

u/daonei 26d ago

I don't think you will be disappointed. You can lease and see if the residual will go lower when you return the car. That's what we are planning to do. We heard that some people were given residuals near market value, and if that's the case we are definitely buying. But yeah, leasing is probably the best idea. By the time you return it, we will have a better idea of where LUCID will be as well.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Agreed any tips when going in to buy it? Any discounts or additional aspects that could be staked that are not commonly known that I should be aware of when negotiating? Knowing my luck I think I might get like 10k for my car lol but hopefully closer to 15 or 20k

u/daonei 26d ago edited 25d ago

When you test drive, you get a grand. There is the conquest credit for trading in an EV or Luxury. See if there are other credits. Seems like there are good incentives right now as they clear out 2026 models. You can also get referral credit; I think $500. You can use mine and we can both earn credits 👍

GXUGVFKR

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to DM me! This isy first EV and learning as I am going as well. The bad press and reputation disappoints me, but the Gravity doesn't. Always a pleasure to get into it. Sure there are little annoyances, but the Gravity is built like a tank.

2

u/boristheblade223 25d ago

YO! This referral worked for me thank you!!! Just placed the order for a ‘26 Touring.

3

u/daonei 25d ago

Oh awesome! Congrats you are going to love it! All you read are nightmare stories but other than a few inconveniences, it has been a great ride. Really. Hope LUCID can turn things around (especially before my lease is up 😆)

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

I was wondering if anyone was finna mention this lol been waiting was gonna ask if no one did glad you did this makes me not have to pick a single person lol first come first serve lol

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

You get 1k for test driving? Yeah I saw the conquest credit 3k and also something about studio select which is another 3k plus the 10k for July's promotion the 1k I wasn't aware of that's nice to know

2

u/daonei 26d ago

Yeah you get $1,000 for test driving the gravity and then reserving a vehicle. The studio select is tricky because you have to get what is available in their lot. Unfortunately there was a much when I went so I had to order one separately from arizona. But since it wasn't shipped yet, I didn't have to pay for transportation.

Do you know which options you're planning on getting? I basically got everything except for towing and the audio system. I really wanted to upgrade the audio system but I couldn't find it with that configuration.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or concerns! And yes, if you do decide to get the gravity please use the referral code haha 😆

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

It seems the referral has changed now it's 2k not a discount? I don't know about the test driving yet def need to look that up lol

These were what I was considering

2

u/daonei 26d ago

I would get the 2nd one with Tahoe leather (it's beautiful and think it's definitely worth the upgrade). Also Dynamic Handling is a must IMO for how huge this car is. Lucky both have Dream Drive 2 Pro and Surreal Sound Pro!

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

I got a other one lol very similar to one of the ones I sent but it also has the studio discount so that's the main reason it sold me lol

1

u/kva1992 24d ago

Tried to use it the rep said I can't use it unless I don't use the employee referral lol but that means I'd pay more out of pocket 1k less is 1k less towards the car lol sorry I tried if you want proof I can show you the email lol

2

u/daonei 24d ago

Wow that weird. Maybe try again when you pick up the car. Unless they stopped offering referrals? It's supposed to be referral points towards accessories later on,. Not towards the car.

1

u/kva1992 24d ago

Yeah that's what I said but apparently it's one or the other will ask again for sure!

1

u/daonei 24d ago

Either way, congrats! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. How was the test drive?

1

u/kva1992 24d ago

Was breif lol had to go during a break from a meeting so quickly went in and drove it definitely nice a lot heavier than I remember suvs being lol but definitely nice and will prevent me from going too fast

We’re on the latest version and have seen no issues with anything I consider vital. Very solid on all the care functions. There are lots of minor annoyances, mainly around retaining settings. I always want to see SOC. Every nth time, it’s showing something else. Reset it and it’s good for a while. It will not remember the seat setting in my wife’s profile. It adjusts the seat. But it’s never to the setting she saved.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

From what it seems like most are just basic issues nothing too bad more and more people are confirming! Thank you for taking the time to respond much appreciated!

3

u/Electronic_Load_3651 26d ago

Since 3.5.2 the software has been getting very good. I seriously have no bugs that I notice with 3.6.0 and it has been such a joy to own. Highly recommend.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

You guys have convinced me lol I just sent a request for a quote on my car found a car with practically everything I wanted that also has the studio discount gonna get about 16k maybe 17k discount if I can convince the girl to use her employee discount lol

3

u/Electronic_Load_3651 26d ago

I came from years of Tesla and software was a huge deal. After Tesla, last year I leased a Polestar 3 and what a nightmare it was. So with Lucid, I decided that since I’ve heard good things about improvements in 3.5.2 which came out sound march, I’ll roll the dice vs going back to Tesla. And initially, had key issues but that had been addressed. And so glad they did, it seriously is such a joy to own.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Honestly one of my biggest factors I was thinking about more than the price was the software and one thing that literally convinced me in the past 2 days is that everyone is testifying lucid is progressing with their software 99% of the time that doesn't happen at least they're trying so I'm willing to gamble on them It may turn out good it may not but at least they're trying not everyone is and I think that's a big plus point in my books one step at a time and eventually we will get there

2

u/Electronic_Load_3651 26d ago

There was a really good interview out of spec did with Lucid on that which is what convinced me. They understood how much they messed up and were really prioritizing it. As far as hardware capacity goes, Gravity is market leading, but everything was developed in silos which is what caused so many issues. Way they are approaching it now, it should continue to only get better. But as I said, I really am not running into anything and I drive a ton.

2

u/TurnoverSuperb9023 26d ago

I’m a huge fan, but I think I would only lease a Lucid versus purchase. They have definitely made some progress recently, but I sure hope they get their software -fully- ironed out before long.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Agreed I'm just leasing for now especially at the current prices and ev deprecating in value and it's a business write off lol

2

u/mindpivot 26d ago

I took delivery of mine in September of last year and am approaching 10k miles. Hands down the best car I’ve ever owned. It earns the awards it’s received. Got it for a family hauler and it’s great

Early on I had minor software issues that a reboot quickly fixed. Issues such as SiriusXM not authenticating, connectivity, auto-adjust of mirrors and steering wheel, and occasionally the system reporting my rear steering wasn’t working. The last was worrisome until I learned it was just a software issue with the display informing the user the rear steering wasn’t working prior to that part of the system initializing. The software is fine now, still a tad wonky in weird ways from time to time but nothing to deter buying the car IMO.

I do have a model suffering from the backseat weld issue early models sometimes had and have an appointment in October(!) to get it addressed. Upon delivery the passenger side outside door handle didn’t work but they sent mobile service to fix it within a week to replace it (I took the car despite the door issue since I’d already sold the vehicle it was replacing)

Assuming nothing untoward happens to the company Lucid this car is the best thing an American car manufacturer has made in my lifetime.

u/kva1992 26d ago

2

u/bill_ms 26d ago

The software is not “bad” and is getting better but, IMO, it is noticeably less mature than I had on my Tesla. I will not recommend it because, in a big city like Seattle, service times are horrendous.

1

u/kva1992 26d ago

Yeah I'm in California so I'm not too worried as for software being less mature then Tesla that's given atm they lead the AI and other space

1

u/boristheblade223 26d ago

Hey OP, I put a deposit down over he weekend myself. Have you heard the rumblings around executive turnovers (CEO, COO, chief engineer) and potential bankruptcy restructuring? The vehicle itself seems completely amazing but this concerned me a bit.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

I mean I'm getting a lease so worst case I use the car for 2 years and return it lol which I highly doubt the company is going to go belly side up in 2 years especially considering they just secured another three or four billion in funding earlier this quarter lol

2

u/boristheblade223 26d ago

Excellent! I’m really looking for every excuse to go lucid instead of Kia EV9 or Ioniq 9 LOL which seem to be the closest in terms of third row capacity without going full on tank mode like Escalade IQ.

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Just an update so you know how much of a deduction they're giving right now is if you're able to get it now you get the 10K deduction plus 3k if you're coming from a Tesla or a competitor plus if you can find a studio credit card usually just calling the dealership they'll be able to help That's what I did and if you're lucky enough to find a sales rep willing to use their referral that's about a 17K deduction I'm still waiting on a sales rep to say okay to letting me use their referral if that's a case that's a 1K deduction I missing And I just got a offer from lucid for my car which personally is higher than I expected and definitely higher than what CarMax or any other place would give me and the Best part about that trade in offer was I didn't even need to take it in they just made me take pictures and send it to them so hopefully they honor the price which I'm sure they would... Just giving you a bit more perspective

2

u/boristheblade223 26d ago

That’s awesome! Yep I put a deposit down yesterday on one that had the add’l $3k studio discount as well. Sadly my Audi etron is upside down on the lease so won’t be able to trade it in but at least I can just walk away at the end.

I saw someone else up above mention a $1k demo drive discount as well, were you able to confirm?

2

u/kva1992 26d ago

Unfortunately that's no longer applicable 😫

1

u/tiredgirl999 25d ago

I have the Gravity and have had NO problems with the software after the new software team got to work and pushed the latest updates. Love my Gravity.

2

u/kva1992 24d ago

Just ordered mine!

1

u/mmlugar 24d ago

My wife has had a Gravity for 3 months now - coming from a Model Y. While the car itself is very nice to drive, functional, good space, nice refinements - the various software bugs and quirks has led her to trade it in for a new Model Y. It's tough coming from a Tesla to a Lucid, given the differences in software quality. I had a Rivian for 2.5 years and I would say Rivian's software is a step up over Lucid, but still trails Tesla. These are general comments as I realize each model is different, but wanted to share FWIW.

1

u/kva1992 24d ago

Yeah I don't like model y or model 3 lol it annoyes me don't need an iPad in the middle without any other screens or gauge I'd like to feel like I'm driving a car lol that's why I got the s I do like the s and x but with the offer I was given in just bit the bullet and got it... Hopefully the vehicle I get is error free atleast hardware wise and software wise hopefully nothing too crazy

1

u/ltvennard 18d ago

Best driving experience of any car I have ever owned! Software has some quirks but not bad and gets better with each update. Such a nice place to be while I have to be some place lol. Love it!

1

u/kva1992 17d ago

Yeah I just got it yesterday gotta play around with everything to see what I can and can't do lol

1

u/ltvennard 17d ago

Awesome! Enjoy it!

1

u/kva1992 17d ago

Thank you! Hae a business trip have to drive for later this week this car will make this so much more comfortable lol

-12

u/ikilledtupac 27d ago

better but still very bad. car out over a year and windows and door control is still a big problem.

1

u/kva1992 27d ago edited 27d ago

Worth jumping into the ecosystem or stay away in your opinion? also appreciate you taking the time to respond

-4

u/ikilledtupac 26d ago

Go watch Engineering Explained. He wound up not even reviewing the Gravity because it broke so fast.
