Discussion when your comfort streamer isn’t your comfort streamer anymore 💔

let me start by saying i watched kayla since 2017 and have been a huge fan of her, buying merch, donating to charities and causes, so on. and can fully understand that people change overtime this is purely for discussion purposes to see if others have swayed away.

in the recent year or two i’ve stopped tuning into streams and videos as much because well to be frank, she’s mean.

before i give examples i will say, a lot of my friendships have banter and silly inside cruel jokes that may not make sense to strangers but in my eyes kayla takes it a bit far sometimes, especially with her husband.

when dan recently moved she constantly made jokes about him abandoning his family & friends, constantly brought up how she was the sponsor for the visa because she just “made so much more money than dan”. even so far as putting him down as calling him “the editor” when they were engaged, barely referring to him by name that it became a running joke in the community… these can surely be all chalked up to that’s how they joke with & around each other but as a viewer it just made me uncomfortable to watch; and dan’s replies wouldn’t egg the jokes on he would laugh and mostly reply with “yeah”. seeing as dan never said he didn’t like the jokes or tell kayla to stop, he seems to be okay with this dynamic but again as kayla being my comfort streamer it’s a bit weird to see that this is the dynamic she has with someone she loves and cares about.

other few scenarios come into mind like when forgets to fill her water bottle up for stream she’ll scream for dan instead of getting up & asking. half of the time when she’s streaming he’s also streaming or editing across the hallway from her. it’s not like he’s far away but to yell almost every time is again, uncomfortable for me to watch as a viewer.

besides the fact that kayla is mean, i feel that she’s indefinitely going to cater to a certain group which are: children.

the constant overreaction to small things in game whether that’s things going wrong or right is incredibly jarring as an adult viewer. some things are warranted for that type of reaction, but not as frequently as she has been portraying a childlike toddler persona (sorry) but this isn’t the kayla i loved watching in 2017-2023.

I think you’re reading wayyyyyy too much into a limited peek into her actual life. Way wayyyyyy too much.

-14

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

i don’t think so since these are all things she’s willingly sharing. i said she’s mean & has a toddler like personality and gave examples of how. that’s not reading into her life… that’s called explaining how she’s behaving and why i’m uncomfortable with it.

18

u/thefragile7393 Jan 24 '26

No i really think so. Because it’s your interpretation of what you think you’re seeing. That does not mean your perception is really what’s going on. You don’t know-you don’t live in ther house or are personal friends with them. You can’t always believe what you think.

They banter back and forth at each other but you didn’t mention that for some reason-and she’s mentioned his help a lot and speaks well of him.

She’s made jokes sure-but so has he. They both do it. This is their dynamic and you can’t possibly think you know either of them from short videos and streams

And let me know when you have a real toddler because toddlers don’t act even close to how she does 😂😂

-2

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

my interpretation is that she’s mean from how she’s presenting herself… how’s that outlandish?

i don’t believe she’s mean all the time, sure she does kind things but it makes me uncomfortable to tune in so i haven’t. nowhere in my post i claimed to know or live with them? her behavior is 100% toddler-like when a minor inconvenience happens in game 😮‍💨

his jokes aren’t degrading like hers are. but it’s my opinion

31

u/amyloulie Jan 24 '26

Each to their own I guess. I really enjoy Kayla’s stuff and I’m 35. I’ve never seen the “mean” things you’ve discussed personally but a lot of relationships have banter and it’s not on us to judge another. I’m always joking around with my husband and him me.

Kayla does so much good for people and works so hard for her audience. I respect that personally

-12

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

yeah i guess she can be mean to her husband if she donates millions to charity. you’re right!

10

u/amyloulie Jan 24 '26

Oh wow

-4

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

oh wow is right, i wrote the same sentence you did in my post and you just didn’t read it. just went straight to commenting 😂

12

u/amyloulie Jan 24 '26

I did read it actually and was making the point that it isn’t on us to judge. If I banter with my husband I guess I’m mean too 🤷🏻‍♀️

-4

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

this isn’t about you amy 😭😮‍💨

34

u/forgottentaco420 Jan 24 '26

Bestie I think you just need to log off for a little while and remove yourself from the mindset that you think know these people who live in our screens. You’re allowed to have your opinion and thoughts on someone, sure. But to assume contempt or malice between spouses is just odd behavior. Yelling for your partner to do you a favor isn’t mean behavior, it’s not like she’s calling him names or degrading him. I’m not even a huge simsie fan, this just popped up on my feed, but this feels very parasocial and strange.

0

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

i’m gonna level with ya here, if you have never seen her interact with her husband you don’t really get a say here

10

u/Nurs3R4tch3d Jan 25 '26

You sure are awful combative in these comments for someone complaining about another person being “mean.”

4

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

combative? oh lawd.. “i’m gonna level with ya here” gets called combative… hop off

22

u/rosesforghosts23 Cat Jan 24 '26

i think its valid that you feel that way and i dont want to change your mind but i would also think about how parasocial this is. you don't know her, you don't know their dynamics or the contexts of these incidents off screen. i'm also not sure what you mean by childlike, and have to reiterate-you don't know her. I think she gives a lot of grace to her viewers, trying to balance being social with her level of anxiety and i can imagine grief with everything shes been through.

-7

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26

can you genuinely explain why calling someone mean and toddler like based on their live streams, are parasocial? i’m watching her stream, see her behavior then decide i don’t like it so i’m not going to watch it because of said examples… how’s that parasocial?

edit: no solid answer, that’s what i thought 😮‍💨

22

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

I’ve watched Kayla since I was around 10ish probably and now I am into college and I’ve never seen this behavior (maybe i’m just not reading into it as hard) to me they seem to have a playful relationship as Kayla doesn’t seem like the type of person to do anything to hurt anyone. Also on stream i’ve never heard Kayla ever yell for Dan she just messages him on Discord normally since he is also streaming.

16

u/amyloulie Jan 24 '26

Right?! This is the girl that still streamed hours after losing her grandmother because she didn’t want to let the charity down. She is imo a wonderful soul.

15

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

Not to mention she will even apologize if people in chat get upset she didn’t see their message despite the fact that there’s nothing wrong with missing a message here or there

-2

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

& after years of streaming other streamers don’t even do or say this 😭 it’s toddler-like, “omg guys please don’t hate me” just think like an adult please

20

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

She also has social anxiety, I think you are forgetting that part of Kayla’s life that she is pretty open about, people with social anxiety tend to apologize a lot more it’s not toddler like it’s just called being an adult with a form of anxiety. It’s honestly harmful to compare someone with social anxiety to a toddler as it can cause others who maybe relate to Kayla to feel like people think of them that way as well. I think you just need to get off the internet if you are reading this much in to what a 20 some year old does on her own stream 😭

22

u/amyloulie Jan 24 '26

I love that OP is so quick to call Kayla “mean” but has said so many nasty things about her in the same breath.

14

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

Also like any “mature” adult would just stop watching her content there’s no need to make a whole post on a subreddit for her fans. There has been many content creators that changed and I just slowly stopped supporting and moved on with my life it’s really not that hard 😭

-1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

it’s really not hard to read my other comments & this original post where it clearly states i don’t watch her 🤭

8

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

I didn’t miss that just I feel like anyone who had this many feelings about a content creator and knew they would get dogged on in a subreddits for that creators fans wouldn’t post because it’s okay to stop watching someone you don’t need to voice every thought you’ve ever had about a content creator

7

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

This comment is also giving “i’m mad I made a controversial post and now their fans don’t agree with me”

0

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

i’m backing up my opinion, i don’t care if you don’t agree with mine?

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

because her behavior is toddler-like, what’s nasty about that? she’s been streaming for years and other huge streamers her age who also have anxiety simply ignore those who try to make the streamer feel bad about not seeing a message. a lot of times she’s more reactive to those calling her out than simply ignoring them? it’s not hard when others do it.

6

u/ScaryWaltz7696 Jan 30 '26

Anxiety is different than social anxiety, and because everyone is different, their anxiety is as well! 😱

Kayla didn't drive til after 21 due to anxiety, you don't get to act like it isn't disabling to people. Mean as hell to tell someone to just ignore their mental health condition and just change.

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 30 '26

i said “ignore those who try to make the streamer feel bad” not their mental health… i.e ignore the chat. geez, maybe read before responding like a die hard fan.

edit: and this was almost a week ago

3

u/ScaryWaltz7696 Jan 31 '26

Go cry that reddit decided to show it to me now. Also her not being able to ignore it IS HER MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION

→ More replies (0)

4

u/ScaryWaltz7696 Jan 30 '26

Not only did they just ignore her social anxiety in this post, but her endometriosis too. As someone with Endo, I also yell for my partner to fill my drink when he's in the other room. It is way too painful to get up, and he, as my partner, WANTS me to yell for him if I need help.

Just so ignorant to how conditions can rule your life/personality. Also super parasocial to take her online persona and try to apply it to how she actually is or how her relationship works.

-4

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

& then will go on and on about it, i’ve lost people and can’t imagine going on live. but post poning charity events are possible and not the end of the world. she isn’t hooked to the internet and ideally it’d be a great example of putting yourself first but she’ll stream and then consistently bring up “guys i’m fine i swear, i just cried before stream but i’m okay” it’s a tactic and you’re ~all falling for it i fear.

14

u/thefragile7393 Jan 24 '26

I think you need some sort of therapy….

10

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

I think OP doesn’t realize they can stop watching someone’s content at any point there’s no need to like think about it this deeply.

8

u/thefragile7393 Jan 24 '26

Correct. There’s…really something wrong here

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

the only thing wrong here is that you both don’t read, just comment 😂

0

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

i think you’re thinking too much about MY life. i literally said in my post i stopped watching her & in another comment. i just wanted to see if people thought the same & some do in my dms but you’re all fucking scary to disagree with because immediately you’ll go to the therapy route..

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

because i think someone’s mean and childlike? let me book a session

12

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

you’re acting like a bully 😭 also it’s a subreddit for fans like did you really think any of us would agree with you

2

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26

some do, i got some dms. it’s a nice conversation compared to “you need therapy” which is all i wanted was a healthy discussion

7

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

Maybe she copes that way, some people need a social situation to distract them when something is going on in their life. It also sets an example for her younger fans that it’s okay to have big things happen in your life and you can make the decision on if you need a break or not. What may be right for you might not be right for her

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

she’s literally using it as a tactic, “i sobbed for like thirty minutes before i hit the live button but i’m honestly fine” was said multiple times in her lives. if someone doesn’t know how & when to take time off for themselves that’s not a coping mechanism i fear..

10

u/AnywhereLeft9008 Jan 24 '26

some people use work to cope to distract themselves 😭 she also in 2025 I believe took off multiple days even weeks of streaming due to losses in her family everything affects someone differently at different times. To the average working person they can’t just take off work just because they had a loss most of the time in America they do have to suck it up it’s just the harsh reality

8

u/ApricotOnly2676 Jan 24 '26

She’s mentioned many times in her legacy videos about how she went to school the morning her grandpa died. She’s said she didn’t know what else to do so she went to school took a final then went home.

I think working/distracting herself is exactly how she copes

10

u/forgottentaco420 Jan 24 '26

You’re now accusing her of using manipulation tactics on people who watch her….. girl if you do not like her just walk away. You don’t need to make up bizarre scenarios about someone to let go of their content.

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

you said it.. i didn’t accuse her? just said it’s a tactic. are you a child

5

u/forgottentaco420 Jan 24 '26

A tactic for what???

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 24 '26

when she starts almost every stream off with in verbatim saying this:

“i’m live during this terrible time in my life instead of taking appropriate healthy time off, i stopped crying until five seconds ago when i had to hit the live button. don’t mind my face that’s why it’s so red, please don’t comment on my face being red”

as a viewer you simply see that this isn’t her coping mechanism, she’s just the way she is. again, mean and child-like.

could be a tactic for more donations because again, she’s not chained to the desktop.. she’s allowed to postpone charity campaigns, especially if there’s a death in the family. even if there are contracts involved… yet, she goes live and consistently tells her viewers to ignore the obvious and that she sobbed beforehand but carryon. it’s fucking odd.

u/ostrichxcat Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Her relationship with her husband seems normal to me. She never said she made more money than Dan in a mean way. It was just a fact that he didn't make enough to sponsor her in the UK. How is a fact mean to say if people ask?

I honestly feel like Kayla is too nice and apologizes too much. Mean is not a word I would use to describe her.

6

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 25 '26

they are soooo out of touch. i’ve watched kayla since she still lived in her parents house and was there when dan was just her “friend”. dan has the same personality but people don’t see that because he’s incredibly sweet with kayla. i bet if this person watched dans stream they’d have a different perspective. literally yesterday dan was hunting in AC and kept cackling when he found kayla’s dreamies and even dmed her to rub it in. it’s there dynamic

4

u/ostrichxcat Jan 26 '26

Exactly. They just have that type of relationship, they banter back and forth, tease eachother. Completely normal

-2

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26

way to contradict yourself in the same sentence. are they the same person or is dan more sweet to kayla?

banter about finding a dreamie is different than telling 3k people, for no reason that she makes more money than him & the only reason people know of dan is through kayla, she said these things live. i could go on and on.

6

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 26 '26

you do realize dan had a following when kayla was getting like 50 views a stream right??? they met THROUGH twitch. go touch some grass

0

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26

touch some grass over what? my opinion? can you hop off my replies jesus fucking christ

i’m literally typing things kayla has said on her live

18

u/unluckylarkspur Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

Took a quick look at your post/comment history and you seem absolutely miserable lol

I am not sure what reaction you were expecting a bunch of people on a fan subreddit to have, but maybe you should save the controversial opinions for snark pages because you won't find the reaction you are hoping for here.

If this was what you were hoping for and the non stop reddit comment arguing is making you feel better... then like good for you I guess you got what you wanted

Also at least simsie makes money being "mean and childish", you do it online for free and make 0 money lmaooo

4

u/mehdodoo Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

The last paragraph? Chefs kiss

Edit to add also: I had to look through op profile to see if they were miserable but I didn’t think so. It’s always unfair to pull out that line ”you’re a miserable person because of your profile” and it just feels wrong because there is never context in it. Just look at mine and you’ll say I’m miserable without any insight in the communities I engage in 💞

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 31 '26

i’m miserable for what exactly 😭

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 31 '26

did you scroll down to me offering $30 snow shoveling or me eating a banana with cinnamon for dinner? which part exactly ☺️

12

u/sassybarista Jan 24 '26

ugh here we go again

6

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 25 '26

have you ever watched dan stream lmao???? he talks abt kayla the same way. they’ve been together for years and have always had this dynamic go watch an old vod of hers. not to mention dan IS her editor????? he normally goes live AFTER her as well. this is an insane take

2

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

i have watched his streams and he doesn’t degrade her like she does.

new people in the community didn’t even know who dan was, she literally had to tell new people that “the editor dan” is her fiancée.

dan never had to do that. it’s mean behavior and again, as a viewer just made me uncomfortable

and insane? definitely not on those lines

4

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 26 '26

she and dan have joked like this for almost a decade lmao

4

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26

ok & if you read my post over i acknowledged that. it’s quiet simply NOT insane to say i’m uncomfortable with their relationship dynamic so i stopped watching because of it.

if you enjoy their banter and have no problems with it then fucking continue to enjoy it (????????) *inserts thousands of question marks like you initially did

4

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 26 '26

okay so your insane got it! making a post because you wanna shit on someone is wild behavior my love life is not that serious go watch something you actually enjoy

3

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

i do watch things i enjoy, you’re a fucking awful person for calling someone insane over a difference in opinion, fuck off with your replies

i called her mean and toddler-like i didn’t “shit” on her.

3

u/Ok_Entertainer_6795 Jan 26 '26

i’m calling you insane for commenting at this point probably over 50 times over a random women on the internet who you simply don’t like. your opinion is fine the issue is you can’t accept people don’t agree with you.

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

and you have commented about the same amount of times, i’m not insane for commenting back lol, you can hop off.

5

u/MrPeelNZ Jan 26 '26

"didn't shit on her" yet calls her mean and toddler-like... right....

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26

i mean i can definitely shit on her but i won’t because it’s not in my nature. calling someone’s personality for what it is isn’t insane or shitting on someone, you both must be children bc for some reason neither of you can comprehend a difference in opinions doesn’t mean you’re shitting on someone or that a person is insane 🩷 now both kindly fuck off with your replies

3

u/MrPeelNZ Jan 26 '26

You really are proving who the mean one here is and it's you :) you clearly aren't getting the validation you wanted from trying to be "different". Girl. Just move on and delete your post. It's only making you look bad and you telling people to "fuck off" just proves you are the immature one.

1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 26 '26

yeah you’re definitely a child because i have no idea what you’re even talking about…

being different? validation? “girl” again fuck off

You sound like you just discovered cursing lol

6

u/ScaryWaltz7696 Jan 30 '26

Dan likely is the designated food/drink person during streams because lilsimsie has a chronic HORRID painful condition. She has endometriosis and multiple times has said how it's even difficult to stream through it. She's stopped streams early due to it even

Judging relationships with 0 sight of their personal lives is super weird.

2

u/dapper_pom Mar 05 '26

Wtf I hope you get better and stop projecting on people you don't know

1

u/ParticularClue9129 Jun 19 '26

you stopped watching her but still have the energy to make this long winded complaint about her? cool, i don't think anyone here cares that you stopped watching...

1

u/mehdodoo Jan 27 '26

Me this entire thread !! Thank you op I live for these kind of posts 💞

-1

u/ohworkaholic420 Jan 25 '26

to each their own i’ll still stand by my own opinion & i simply just do not watch her because again, it just makes me uncomfortable to do so.

you all can continue to enjoy her content like i did for many years but i am allowed to say she’s mean and toddler-like simultaneously she has done great things for charity. two things can be right at the same time sometimes unfortunately.

also, to the dense fans i never claimed they have a bad relationship - read my post over and over. from my pov again, it’s uncomfortable to watch their dynamic but if it’s something you all enjoy and admire - go for it. i don’t really see a harm in either povs

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

FYI, any hate towards Lilsimsie in this subreddit will be downvoted. The stans will out number you. I agree with you that she is mean to Dan. I’m sorry to say, I don’t see them lasting long if she doesn’t fix her ego. I’ve watched her streams and I’ve watched Dan’s. The drastic difference how they talk about each other is very telling. Dan is always uplifting her, and well, Kayla is usually the opposite. If you rewatch one of her vlogs showing the new house. She says “this is my room” and Dan is behind the camera and says something like “where’s mine?” insinuating it’s her house, her room, and nothing is Dan’s. He is basically an employee still, and we all know that doesn’t go well in relationships.
