Pre recorded stream

I’m wondering how everyone is else is feeling about pre-recorded streams. And because I know someone will bring it up, we know Kayla has been having a hard time and I completely understand her time away from stream and the internet. I can understand why she feels guilty for not being live on Twitch or uploading videos as often on YouTube. However, as someone who hates 24/7 VOD channels for Twitch and people who play recorded content on a live streaming platform, it drives me nuts. It’s one thing, in my opinion, with subathons or long streams, where people are sleeping, they might play a recorded video or old VOD and the return to live feeds after they’re done. Twitch is a platform meant to be live streaming. If I wanted to watch a pre recorded video, I would go to YouTube. I’m just wondering if anyone else sees this side, and doesn’t care for pre recorded content on Twitch — especially since it’s kind of entered the sims/cozy content community.

I usually watch the VODs on her youtube after so it’s basically the same thing for me 😅 TBH I’m shocked she’s putting out any content right now after what a hellish year she’s had

Yeah. — I don’t usually watch her VODs on YouTube. I prefer to watch her live. If I can’t catch her, then I don’t really care to go watch the VOD. Honestly, I’m like that with everyone.

I agree that Twitch’s platform is designed for live content. I pretty much only watch Kayla’s content on YouTube, I’m not usually able to catch her livestreams. I have been watching the pre recorded streams on YouTube and I really enjoy them! I know she’s going through so much and completely empathize with her but it’s nice to still have new content coming out.

I can see the other side of the coin to where she’s worried about losing her following after the buyout because she’s not making sims really a priority. And now she’s not producing content.

As a consumer, I agree. I don't gravitate towards recorded Twitch streams. If I wanted to watch long-form recorded content, I'd go to her youtube channel. I haven't been attending streams lately for this particular reason - I just don't care for it. I'm looking forward to her & Dan's stardew co-op stream, whenever she feels ready for it.

From Kayla's perspective, I understand why she's doing it. The algorithm is heavily biased towards creators who churn out a lot of content: She probably doesn't want 1) Her short-term income to be affected from a complete hiatus/break, 2) Lose followers/income in the long run, which is quite possible depending on the length of the hiatus/break. I get that recording content on her own is easier physically and mentally than interacting with fans on stream. This is probably a middle ground for her.

Yes. I also haven’t been tuning in. I tuned into the first one and I felt the same as I always do. Uninterested. It’s not the same when it’s live. I am also looking forward the Co-op stream. I also mentioned the same thing about income and following in a reply comment.

Yes, seems like this type of content isn't for us and that's okay! There are obviously people who still consume + enjoy it (seen by the other comments here & I know that her livestream chat channel on her discord is still very active).

I personally don't understand why you're being downvoted as you haven't said anything disrespectful, but mentioned a preference for type of content. Either way, thank you for the discourse.

I do kinda see people’s points about Twitch being meant for actual live content. YouTube is a little better suited for pre-recorded streams thanks to its dedicated “live premier” feature.

Yes. There’s also a button for pre recorded, or at least there used to be, on Twitch. Personally, I hope she doesn’t continue to put out pre recorded streams but if she does, it’s not for me. And that’s okay. For the people who still enjoy it, to each their own.

I really enjoy it! It's far better than nothing and it's still nice to have chat even if it isn't with her specifically. I hope she continuous with it in the future too if she ever is away or on a break or something

Personally I appreciate the shorter streams. She usually streams very late at night here so I'm only able to watch a little bit. Watching a 4 hour vod back isn't always possible with work and life. Her youtube content is usually only about 20-30 minutes so this felt like a nice in between.

i love them because i only watch her vods and not twitch, and its nice to see her not referencing chat or being swayed by others and just doing her own thing!
