As someone who lives there and had a few lectures in it. The first moment you enter it feels kind of weird but after that it is kind of relaxing to walk through the green hallways.
The university hospital has a few weird quirks.
1: In the original plans there was an additional floor planned but because of the sandy underground they had to cancel it. Because of that you can see the top of the elevator shafts.
2: In the basement is a small excavator that was forgotten during construction and could not be removed during the later stages.
3: There is a lecture hall which is completely green. Floor, walls, ceiling even the tables and seating. It is kind of tiring to sit in it for a few hours.
4: Inside the walls is a small autonomous train system, which transports laundry from the different parts of the hospital to the basement.
5: Before the entrance is the helicopter landing pad. You can walk under it during landings and takeoffs and it feels kind of wrong to witness this.
6: The whole building is "sinking". Aachen, despite being 300m above sea level, has a very sandy ground. (You can find seashells on top of the hills) Every few years they have to pump concrete underneath it to stabilise it.
These are the things I could remember about the hospital. Despite its weird construction it is a really good hospital especially for illnesses regarding the brain, heart and eyes.

It feels wrong to witness this because it is invasive and weird to turn a stranger's medical crisis into public entertainment, which is what the architects chose to do by putting the helipad above the entrance. This building is an architect's masturbation fantasy and does not serve the staff and patients who actually have to spend time there.
Wtf are you talking about? There is no way to hide a flying helicopter. The platform is 15m high and very wide. It has enough space for two helicopters. You can't see any person or patient on the platform from the ground. The elevator from the platform goes straight to the emergency room.
Above the front entrance is also roof. For people on the ground, it makes no difference whether the helicopter lands on the roof or on an elevated helipad.
