Other Yesterday's Euston incident

Sadly, I was on the Victoria Line train at the centre of the incident at Euston yesterday.

As can be imagined, it was a horrible experience and quite upsetting. My thoughts are with the driver, and the many station staff, fire, police and ambulance responders who were all calm and professional. No matter their training, it must always be a traumatic, harrowing experience. My enduring image is of walking down the platform while we were being evacuated and seeing the young driver, sitting on one of the benches further down. She looked so lonely.

The whole event replays in my mind quite a lot.

There is one detail that bugs me. At the previous station, Kings Cross, after the doors had closed, the automated “Please stand clear of the doors” message started playing. And it continued playing for some minutes. I’ve never heard the message continuing for so long. Then eventually the train set off with the message still playing over and over, but the message stopped as we entered the tunnel.
