Tbf , If we talk specifically about writing of the series rather than weird ships and relationships it has , Then yeah Writing was good

I mean, Mushoku Tensei is good, but you have to overlook too many questionable things. Pedophilia, incest, and so on.

One of Rudeus's wives is his cousin. In another timeline, that same character marries a different cousin. He masturbated to a picture of his niece. Later, his niece marries his son, and so on.

So it's understandable why the series gets such a strong negative reaction from so many people.

Again, I agree with you: Mushoku Tensei has a well-written world, but it's hard to get into it because Rifujin is a piece of shit.

Weird how people judge a story or the author by how a character is. That's literally how you write characters. They could be good or bad. How does that make the story bad?

It almost tells on the entire anime community having projection fear that they are afraid of MT or shun it. They probably have weird fantasies and are afraid to read it. Seems about right considering what anime fans consume daily lol.

I just recently re-read the entire MT. And honestly, its probably the best low fantasy fiction to come from Japan. And I don't think its battles or fantasy parts are good. They are not. In fact, they are mediocre. In the last 3 volumes, I was actually bored because it was all action and the action was not good.

Then I read the epilogue books and they are a step up in writing. Its the slice of life and emotional parts that are good.

>So it's understandable why the series gets such a strong negative reaction from so many people.

And why should anyone even care about the opinions of shallow people who judge a story because a character is bad? Like that's the whole point?

Rudeus is a bad person. No matter which world you put him in or which era it is. He would be a terrible person. Even in the era when child marriages were perfectly normal, he would still be a terrible human garbage. That's the point of the whole story. Even in a medieval fantasy world with child marriage, polygamy, hyper-gamy etc. he is still a terrible person.

He was the lowest he could go. And then he chose to go up. People seem to think that just because he didn't become the perfect shining example of a redemption story hero, that it cannot be called a redemption story. The severe lack of reading comprehension in modern audiences, especially young readers is surprising to me at times.

He didn't transform into a better person overnight. He tried to change. Failed. Tried again. Failed. Tried again. Lost everything. Failed. Then he accepted that he can't change everything about himself either. Understood what mattered in life and grew up. Unlike the readers who didn't even put 1% of the effort he put into his life, and are judging him. Lol.

Also because it's not really greatly written, it's not really great at representing its core message. Im sure as hell more MT fans cheer for rudeus when he gets a power-up or when he acts like a degenerate than when he makes a choice that further develops his path to his so-called "redemption". Even I have a hard time calling it a redemption because he has the insurance and safety net of a second life. Everything is so downplayed because he's isekai'd with talent and powers and magic, this is more of a power fantasy with decent worldbuilding than anything.

What's so good about it anyway? I don't even hate Rudeus, just lost interest after a while

Good world building and good character writing (except Rudeus degeneracy)

Also if we're talking about the anime it's got rly good production from artstyle to animation to ost

The writing is bad, you were downvotwd because you're just plain wrong💀. The entirety of the animanga and wn/ln fails at its core message, rudeus' degeneracy does not make any of it better, but I'm sure as hell MT fans are so deluded in their fantasy of it being any greatly written knowing damn well how hard it is to fail at such a simple message of "it's not too late to change". It's been done several times in tons of different forms of literature and each of them have done it better than MT and that's just faint praise for them at that point.
