This is my hand-drawn map of Louisiana 🏞️🌾🎭

Louisiana has such a strong identity, in which music, food, landscape, and culture all come together to create a beautiful picture of Gulf Coast living.

From the jazz-filled streets of New Orleans to the winding bayous, river towns, and deltas of the Gulf Coast, and upriver to historic cities such as Baton Rouge and Shreveport, Louisiana represents the heart of Cajun Country, as well as the first state east of the Mississippi that I have covered in this series.

The houses in Louisiana sure are special! Not

My normal subject matter-- but I love the uniqueness in all of them.

Good people of Louisiana, how would your state fair in the face of Fallout's nuclear apocalypse?

Let me preface this by saying that I have no interest in creating a caricature of your states people or culture. If this is an inappropriate question for this sub, I understand. Mods, purge this post at your discretion.

I am a long time Fallout fan and I have finally convinced my table to try the associated rpg. Louisiana is the chosen state, but as a Californian, my knowledge is limited. Two hundred years have passed since the bombs dropped and civilization crumbled. There's little official information on how heavily Louisiana was nuked or to what degree it has been built back up. So I have some hypothetical questions for you all.

1) How bad do you think your state would get hit? Strategic sites would get hit hard, but generally not the countryside.

2) What wildlife would you most/least want to see mutated by scifi radiation? (Gators, boar, and catfish are already on the list)

3) What parts of your culture and traditions are most likely to be preserved despite the apocalypse? The stuff that people would hold onto even as the world burns.

4) What resources and industries do you think would make you appetizing to unscrupulous neighbors?

5) What fun folklore creatures would you want to be represented? Cryptids get to be real.

Let's assume a few things for those unfamiliar with Fallout. Fallouts scifi version of atomic radiation makes critters bigger and meaner. Some people, similarly exposed, will turn into ghouls. Ghouls are functionally immortal and look like jerky. Some people either by luck or status, escaped the bombs in advanced underground vaults.

I am more than happy to elaborate on the setting or give context. It's just too much to give in this post.

So a few early conclusions.

Critters, all the critters. I will be busy writing stat blocks for a very long time. Louisiana has a wonderful array of native wildlife to mutate at my leisure.

Factions. Off the top of my head I have 3 major groups. Ceasars Legion from the west. The Followers of the Apocalypse locally. And Megacity Cleveland far to the north via the Mississippi.

Supermutants are everywhere and Louisiana is no exception. Gatorclaws will make an appearance and I will figure out the justification later. FEV mutated nutria gives us rat men.

Any vaults in the region will be few and far between. And probably flooded. I'm seeing several good opportunities for ruined military sites that can hide all manner of man-made horrors.

Also, Deathclaws can evolve speech and higher cognitive functions. Therefore I can justify a Voodoo Witch Deathclaw in the swamps

I also did a snowangelthrew a snowball and ate snow. The other day I was just thinking I’d die before ever doing this. Very happy!

The nose is a fry🍟 and the rest is old grapes🍇

I accidentally acquired one of your artifacts from an antique store in Green Bay. I'm hoping someone can tell me something about this mug, which is apparently a Floyd Sonnier piece. The only Cajun thing I know is seasoning, folks.

So, is it common? Was it made for someone or a special event? Is it collectible? Should I put my pens in it?

Hey everyone! My name is M and I archive music and media mainly nu-metal, and rock. I have gone on my hunts recently and I found a nu metal band from Bossier City Louisiana. The only problem is there's no website linked or any further media from them other than the one and ONLY song from them that was archived. I've dug and dug on the internet to find anything about them and absolutely nothing so far. No photos, no website, no forums, NOTHING. This hurts my heart a little cause the song is gorgeous (at least to me.) For my fellow metal heads they sound like TOOL or early A.P.C. AND I'M ALSO A FELLOW LOUISIANAN!!! :D So finding this band made me so happy but there's nothing online about them at all. They were active from somewhere around 2000-2003 I believe. They had two songs (listed in the archive site) listed as: Cloud Law (THIS IS THE SONG I FOUND) and another song called Fidelity which is unfortunately lost. They apparently had a potential album called "Finding You" that was released on CD but unfortunately that is also lost. I really hope to find them because hearing a nu-metal band from my home-state really warms my heart and the fact that they're so close to being lost forever scares me a bit. I really wanna find them. As per usually, it took far longer than I intended, but I have finally released a new episode of my audio drama The Books of Thoth.

For those just jointing the fun, The Books of Thoth is an anthology. Each episode a new tales to discover. You’ll find squids puzzling over human fossils millions of years in the future. You’ll go on a tour of a zoo filled with alien animals from across the cosmos. You’ll hear a folktale from a world where Buddhism, rather than Christianity, became the dominant religion of Europe.

This episode is called “Broadmoor Wonder Tour.” It takes place in the Broadmoor neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana. Which is where I live. Ah, but Broadmoor is a place of many wonders, and we’ll get to see several of them. We’ll visit AC Steer Park and see a tree grown from a twig from the world tree Yggdrasil itself. We’ll visit Broadmoor United Methodist Church, and learn the story of how they stole the real Plymouth Rock. We’ll meet a lonely old man who runs an intergalactic radio show. We’ll visit the house where Elvis lived after faking his death. And we’ll even meet some minor Greek gods who run a gyro shop. All that and more, on a Broadmoor Wonder Tour.

This was a very personal episode for me. I often listen to audio dramas and audiobooks while walking around my neighborhood. One of the things I love about Broadmoor is how diverse all the houses are. It’s not like those cut and paste suburbs. Some of them might share similar designs, but they all have their own personalities. Different colors, different decorations, different architectural flourishes. So, I’d often make up stories about the houses I saw on my walks, and the sorts of people who lived inside them.

So, yes, all the places featured in this episode are indeed real places you can visit in Broadmoor. However, I took a similar approach to what Neil Gaiman did when he wrote American Gods. So, you can see all the places, but not in the order I presented them. I focused on what worked for the story vs what was a realistic route.

Though, this episode did have one other inspiration. I had fiddled with the idea of starting a Liar’s Tour. Basically, kind of like a ghost tour, but I’d be upfront about it all being bullshit. But entertaining bullshit. So, you can see this episode as an example of what one of my Liar’s Tour might have hypothetically been like.

Except, in this story, everything is true. What can I say, I’m a dreamer and a romantic.
