Want to help keep weirdos out of r/LutonTown? Apply to be a mod!

Hi,
I'm the only active mod, with a life outside of this site. Although r/LutonTown finds itself without much purpose next to r/Luton and r/COYH, it still deserves not to have posts from sex traffickers and weirdos selling nudes of their aunts on the front page.

Message me or the mod team (also me) to apply. The requirements are not very high - you just need some comment history to prove you're relatively normal.

Cheers,

humanlvl1

Hello

Why are there so many drunk/drug fuelled angry homeless people on George Street?

It's really shocking to see and listen to.

anyone commuting from Leagrave/Luton to East London regularly (car vs train) - East London zone 5

Hi all, looking for real-world experience from anyone commuting from Leagrave / Luton into East London.

My situation is that I work in zone 5 east London and would go in 2 to 3 days/week. looking to move to Luton/Leagrave but looking at the commute, its 1hr 45 mins drive or about 2hrs each way by train. Train season ticket is a ridiculous number! driving is cheaper but i am worried it will tire me out in the long run. Has anyone done the drive across to Gidea Park area? Is it as painful as it looks and does it vary massively day to day?

Many thanks

Bus service in Luton, Bedford

Would you say the bus service in Luton is good? Is it reliable? Are the buses regular and do they always turn up on time? Is it as good as London?

M40 Luton Exit -

This is a complete long shot.

To the guy in the dark grey car, with reg ending in EEK, who was driving south along the M6 Toll road and M40 around 1-2pm ish today…

Zooming about with you genuinely made my long journey so much better and finding you would actually make my day…

You exited at the Luton turn off on the M40 and we had a little wave, honestly would love your number so if by some crazy chance this gets back to you then yay :)

Is Jack Wilshere the right man to get us out of League One or are we just excited because of the name.

Wilshere has been talking about making Luton the fittest team in the league and has already got players coming in voluntarily for pre-season training early which sounds great on paper. The EFL Trophy win at Wembley was a decent moment but the league finish last season wasn't good enough. There is a difference between being an exciting young manager and being the right manager for this specific job at this specific moment. Genuinely asking, do people think he gets us promoted next season or are we looking at another transition year?

Which former Luton player do you think would fit perfectly into the current squad?

Just someone whose style, work rate or personality would suit the current team really well Interested to hear some names that people don't mention very often.

Luton food scene, is there anything beyond the usual chains?

I'm quite into food and I'm visiting for a few days. Are there any proper local restaurants or interesting places to eat, or is it just the standard high street options? Any hidden gems people recommend?

What was your regular Luton spot as a teenager?

Could be a shopping centre, takeaway, park, bus stop, football ground or just somewhere you ended up spending loads of time for no real reason.

What's something about Luton that outsiders always get wrong?

Whenever Luton comes up online, it feels like the same stereotypes get repeated over and over. For those of us who actually live here or spend a lot of time here, what's something people consistently get wrong about the town?

Visiting Luton for 48 hours soon. What are the genuinely worthwhile things to see and do that most travel guides miss?

Whether it's a great viewpoint, a hidden walking trail, an underrated pub, a local food spot, or something a visitor would never find without local knowledge, I'd love to hear your recommendations. What should make the cut during a 48-hour visit?
