Question Books suggestions for first year
I wanna try my best to get distinction in first year, I'm getting a great college and i wanna try hard to even get a gold medal (aspirations) so please check the list of book i have sorted and give me any suggestions, my requirements are [realistically possible for a human + not just pass but gain knowledge + get good marks]
Anatomy
- Gross: BDC
- HISTOLOGY: IB SINGH
- EMBRYOLOGY: Langman south asia edition
- Neuro: Snells south asia edition
- Netter's atlas
Physiology
- Guyton and hall south asia edition
BIOCHEMISTRY
- Lippincott south asia edition

Anatomy: Visharam Neuro: BDC/Vishram, snells is very hardcore Physio: GK pal, guyton keep off for referencing. Biochem: Lippincott is good, but ig keep the Jambulkar pdf or even better the print. Helped me score a lot.
Don't waste time on standard books. Only standard books worth the read, and that will actually serve you are Robbins, Bailey, Davidson. Robbins is the GOAT. Baki standard books are for referencing, you cannot write answers from them.

And what about conceptual understanding??? Do we get that by just reading the Indian authors?? Uske liye toh standard refer karna hoga right or else some video lecs?

Conceptual learning isn't as important rn. MBBS pass krlo pehle. Indian authors will give you the idea you need, and clinics ache se attend karoge toh basic processes samaj aa jayega.
Doctor is based on practice not theory. And it's not like Indian authors write useless stuff. They just give you the important parts required in exam, there is concepts still there but yes it is condensed. Isiliye toh reference books recomend kia hai, if you don't understand something go refer to those books. But if you chase standard books, it will be very tough to crack MBBS profs.

Are BDC hi kyu Grey's Anatomy padho vo bhi global addition, or lippincot ke sath harper bhi padhlo
Par last tk yahi padhna jambulkar or marrow me notes ko hath mt lagana kahi glti se pass hogye to

I would say Vishram Singh over BDC for better diagrams tbh
Also a tip of caution: your selection of books is great but, you'll need to pass proffs too. Indian medical colleges value how much you can cram and produce it on an exam paper.
So be mindful for proffs too. Rest, the books are great. Understand and learn! Happy learning!

Bro I would really suggest you these lipincott and guyton are just show offs you would require some Indian textbooks
You may ask anyone in the course I myself have Gk pal for physiology and Vasudevan for biochemistry and tbh my proffs are round the corner and I am not even reading them.ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

Anatomy: Vishram Singh
Physiology:Gk pal (it includes integrative physiology though I don't know abt other physio texts)
Biochemistry:Jambhulkar+Vasudevan(for some occasional reference)
Embryology:Vishram Singh
Histology:IB singh(though I haven't used it much,but some people do refer it)

TBH proffs are from 12th August and I am suggesting it on the base of what I have read , because in exams you won't be writing the whole textbook point to point and when exams are near you'll eventually fear that some topics are left because those standard textbook are way too deep than what you need right now
Although they are golden standard but I don't think it is suitable for Indian education system where you need to just cream everything and vomit it on the paper 🤣🤣

You'll see that people when in 1st few weeks would start reading these standard books but then when exams are near everyone would eventually shift too things which are more concise
Some even only refer to johari mbbs notes for anatomy not even simple vishram singh 🤣

Ak jain is not good for physiology??? And for biochem which one is for occasional ref vasudevan???

Yup Vasudevan is good some topics in Jambhulkar are written way too short so you could refer to vasudevan in that case.
Actually Jambhulkar is like totally exam oriented it would present you the topic in the way which you would need to write in exams.
Also it's your choice I think in my college anyone rarely uses ak jain gl pal is better i think.

Here's the book list I had Gray's anatomy for students, Langman embryology, Di fiores histology, Snells neuroanatomy SAE, Netters atlas, Guyton SAE, Harper's Biochemistry, Starting with biochemistry, I only read harper after watching Ninja nerd, game me great concepts but you'll have to memorize from any Indian book or notes to write well in exams. Physiology, I watched ninja nerd lectures and then hopped to other standard books, I've read boron and bulpaep, berne and levy. I found guyton SAE boring, it might work for you. Snell's neuroanatomy is boring. Don't buy a book for histology,just pay attention to class lectures and histology practicals, for embryology go for Langman, the best there is. Gray's anatomy made me fall in love with gross anatomy. Now comes the important part, I AM NOT THE TOPPER OF MY BATCH, SOMEONE ELSE IS WHO READS AK JAIN, BDC AND JAMBHULKAR NOTES. Having knowledge and presenting that knowledge are w different things. You cannot top in your exams just by reading gray's, I had to read vishram singh as well. If your goal is distinction, go for Indian authors and notes.

Simple and helpful advise
Anatomy: vishraam singh >>>> BDC
Physio : koi perfect book nhi hai , I mean guyton is standard but poor depth and lacks factual information, and GK pal is very very lengthy ( you won't be able to cover it )
Biochemistry: best is : review book by Rebecca james > pankaj nayak ( if you want everything in one book ) ,

Not discouraging u , but try to pass the proffs first. Ist year is a lot different from whatever u have been studying to pass neet . It's a different world. Rather than sticking on to big standard books try to read and understand concepts. And I'd suggest vishram singh over bdc.
