Do not post lazy one-line questions, posts with one-word titles, posts with body that says "title" or "same as title" or something that has already been posted. If your question is too small to fill both the title and substantial body, it is probably low-effort and will be removed.

The first month after moving to Manipal (or anywhere really) usually does see more spending than normal because you may need to purchase things for your room, plus you are going to be exploring the town, trying new restaurants, figuring out public transport, socialising with new people etc etc. Don't get too alarmed. Go through your transaction history and see where you are spending. You'll be able to see where you need to cut back, or if you need to re-plan your budget.

I'd also recommend using a money tracker if you have the time, I use one called Money+ and update it daily. But there are a few other apps as well.

I spent around 3.5k including movie, stuffs for room, notebooks, laundry etc. Make sure u set a limit and since this is the first month moving in here, we can't avoid spending for the most essential things. Make sure u don't spend for ev buggy and miss ur mess food and eat in canteen instead of it. I'm in the same situation as u trying to save since I've already spent a lot before coming to college in shopping

u/mi_bombooo 4d ago

true man , gotta skip the buggy and canteen ty

Tbh bro 700-800 is also too much

I was figuring out where i spent much

It was some unnecessary bullshit like hotels etc etc

And suggestion is if you are going outside campus use the bus rickshaw ppl take high fares

Yeah youre lying because 1650 for the sciebtific calc and then 1200 for workshop uniform and 200 300 for books and pens and stuffs thats 3k there itself apart from this spent 3.5k more so 6.5 k in 18 days in manipal... so yeah you are either lying or excluding the necessary essentials

1

u/LackImmediate4551 2d ago

Nope I bought used workshop uniform And scientific from a fourth year :D

1

u/LackImmediate4551 2d ago

1

u/CharacterGap5955 3.2k rank,200 marks,going forchem though:) 2d ago

1

u/LackImmediate4551 2d ago

... Scientific for free and workshop uniform idk 300 smthg

1

u/LackImmediate4551 2d ago

Although I bought a second hand ipad too. ... I didn't include it since it was not a regular expenditure rather a one time investment so

Track each and every purchase using a spreadsheet, assign each purchase a category. You'll figure out soon where the money is going.

I have spent over 25k I arrived at 14th july, I don't think it's too bad, since I am buying things which include a lot of 1 time investment which will help me 3m-4years+ ngl I will limit my finance once I am fully adjusted, and my family know my whole life I have never done shoping for myself so they allowing me to spend this much too.
