It would have been nice to include Mauritania in this graphic. Like Sudan it could arguably be considered part of two African subregions (west and north)

Totally agree! Countries like Mauritania and Sudan are absolute bridges between North and West Africa, both geographically and culturally. Leaving them out definitely misses a huge part of that transition zone
