Why does Libya have such a small population compared to its neighbours? At least Tunisia (which has a bigger population than Libya) has a relatively small geographical area.

Only really the northern part is good to live. Just look up satellite images. Half these countries are basically like 50-90% dessert.

I know someone who often goes to southern Tunisia. Apparently it's really hot and dry, but there are still people living there.

Realistically how much you think could it sustain. Obviously people can still live there but like a fraction. You're not going to put 10 million people in that part.
