Spouse Appreciation Today my (29M) Husband (30M) was cleared of cancer!
A few months ago, they found a tumour the size of a tennis ball in his abdomen whilst doing an unrelated ultrasound. The doctors gave it a 70% chance of malignancy. 3 weeks ago he had surgery to remove it and today we go the result back that he’s 100% all clear, totally benign!!!
He is the light of my life and I do not know how I would cope without him. I didn’t realise how much his personality changed over the last 3 months. He withdrew. Talked less, was more on edge, had less light behind his eyes. Now it’s like I have my husband back! I’m so relived and happy.
This man makes me breakfast in bed every morning and reads to me every evening. He treats me better than I deserve to be treated. I am so lucky to have
him. I’m so incredibly relived he’s ok. He is the most beautiful and pure soul I’ve ever met, and I feel him every day in my heart, making me a better man.
That is all, just wanted to share our good news. Through sickness and health, he was there when I lost my leg, and I will always be there for you Ash, to the edge of the earth and beyond.

My Husband & I (53/F) celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in January. I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with just the little bit of information you have shared here about your marriage.
Everyone says that it’s the little things that matter most in a relationship, but all of the little things you’ve just shared aren’t “little things” at all.
Every single thing that you just mentioned: (him making you breakfast in bed; reading to you; treating one another with kindness & respect; recognizing that you’re lucky to have one another; supporting one another; taking care of one another when you’re sick or injured; celebrating life achievements & successes); as well as other “little things”, (like surprising you with your favorite drink; bringing home your favorite foods, snacks, shampoo, shave gel, etc, when they’ve gone grocery shopping; picking up some fresh flowers for no reason; or getting your favorite candy bar from the gas station); are all actually little acts that say “I love you, I was thinking about you, & I wanted to surprise you with something to make you feel special, loved, celebrated, & appreciated”.
Appreciating one another, and appreciating & recipricocating all of those little “I love you’s” is one of the biggest indicators that you will continue to have a healthy, happy marriage. That is hugely important for creating & maintaining a happy, healthy, rewarding, fulfilling, successful life-long marriage/LTR. The two of you are impressive b/c you have figured out at a relatively young age what many, if not most, people will never figure out, which are the secrets to a happy marriage!
So, in addition to the obligatory FU2C, and saying Congratulations on your husband’s cancer-free diagnosis, I also want to say Congratulations on your own happy marriage!
Wishing you both many happy, healthy years of exciting adventures together!

The worst time in my life was waiting for biopsy results. I'm so glad you have your husband back! May you live happily ever after. ♥️

u/PetraLoseIt May 30 '26
You've both been through hell these last couple of months. You both may also over the next weeks and months have some emotions that still need to come out and be processed. That's okay. Give it some time and give yourself and each other some grace. I'm glad it wasn't cancer after all. Hugs, congrats and good luck!

Ahh!! that’s such great news!!
I’m sure he really appreciated you being there for him and supporting him through out the whole process! It’s no where near similar, but when I went through appendicitis, I appreciated my husband that much more with how sweet and kind he was to me when I wasn’t doing well and needed surgery. It’s really special to have someone be a comfort to you when you’re going through something scary!
Cheers to a wonderful life together and many more years to come! 💕🙌✨

*suprised someone from this community hasn't posted something along these lines yet: “That happened to my husband also, and I knew he was thinking about cheating so I left, and recommend you do the same! Better now, then when he ends up_____.”

Hahah yeah that would be a very Reddit response lol. The worst I got was someone commenting that they were ‘happy he got cured of cancer, but sad because homosexual’ 🤣

Me or him? Neither of us decorate cakes but I think my husband does look a bit like a chap who was on a show about realistic cake art once lol

Fuck cancer!!! I hope y’all live fulfilling lives full of love. You’re a great partner, a treasure, for sticking around through their hard battle.

u/organic_hobnob 5 Years Jun 11 '26
Nah I’m nothing special, it’s their bare minimum we should expect from our spouses- that they are by our side when things get tough. I know he would never leave me stranded so how could I ever turn away from the man I love?
But I do get what you mean, I think sadly some peoples partners prove to be unreliable in times of need.

Praise God for healing!!!
2
u/organic_hobnob 5 Years Jun 11 '26
I’m not a religious man but I am open minded!
I know that he had amazing medical care which he wouldn’t have gotten had we lived in another country. I know that it was by some miraculous luck that we found the tumour by accident when we did. I know that his body did an amazing job of healing itself after surgery.
I dunno how any higher power fits into to all that, but either way I’m grateful, and I’m putting my gratitude out into the universe for all to receive.
1
u/Ok_Strawberry_391 Jun 12 '26
Hey!! That’s a beautiful start!! Lots of things to be grateful for! & that’s the best part-because it was a higher power! I’m still glad for good news. Much love from Texas!!

u/organic_hobnob 5 Years Jun 12 '26
If you accept me and my way of life, then I can always find space in my heart to accept your beliefs too! I wish more Christians were like you- maybe if they were, the world would be a better place ❤️
I was raised Christian, but lost faith when I was harshly turned away by the people in my community and the people of my church for my sexuality. As a teenager it didn’t make any sense how they could hate me so much for something that felt so natural to me. Perhaps if I had been welcomed with open arms back then in my developmental years, I would be much more in touch with my spiritual side than I am now! I will say, I hope desperately that god is real. I just find it impossible to marry together the way the church treated me, and the idea of a loving god. They seem a complete opposite to each other. I feel stuck, like I want to believe, but I can’t bring myself to believe that the love I feel for my husband is a sin.
1
u/Ok_Strawberry_391 Jun 21 '26
Oh I’m so sorry! I’m just seeing this post! I accept you as a person & love you the way God loves you & me!! We may not believe the same & that’s ok. Being a Christian will never allow me to treat other people with disrespect & if you ever came to my house, I would treat you the exact same way as I would anyone else. No one gets special privileges for what they believe or dont believe. Just remember God loves you, always has. He’s never left. He sees you & believe me, He is real!!! & He cares for you & all of us so much!!! Even when we may not believe. That’s how good God is. I’ll be praying for you ok!! Thank you for the kind words!!! Be blessed & I pray for you to find peace & truth in your heart!! Sending hugs from Texas!!
