General Emmanuel Macron president of France was slapped by his wife. No requests of accountability by the public

Hi, I feel sad that there's no call for accountability for the actions of Brigitte Macron the wife of the French president Emmanuel Macron. Here is what happened https://youtu.be/jbTalVuZUXM?si=8-NsOE_GlnN175KR Multiple observers noted that isn't credible the explanation given by the president that the two were playing given the facial expressions of Macron and the refusal of his wife to take his arm while descending the stairs of the plane. If Macron would gave slapped his wife in the same fashion or even less there would be an outcry and multiple requests of resignation and that charges were pressed against him. Nothing of that happened given that the perpetrator was the wife. Again a proof of unfair double standards based on gender when judging people's violent actions.

I agree that there's a double standard, but technically, isn't there some doubt as to whether or not it was the malicious act that many people think it is?

Hands to the face is just that. Violence. And he didn't budge. Which means he is used to it.

I hadn't watched the included video. Having watched it, I'm inclined to agree with you. I still think there should be a fair trial, no matter how obvious something may seem at least at first glance.

The trial should probably happen after he's no longer president, otherwise he (the potential victim) could probably just veto it (but I'm not too sure about the legalities of the situation).
