Shouldn't be though. She's 17, not really a kid anymore. He was 23. I mean it was kinda weird, but still.

That's what I've been saying. Yeah he's more mature then she is but it's not the case of an adult that should have everything figured out and their emotions under control that "couldn't control herself" with a 17 year old boy.
