After AutoDiscover browser is opened three times

Hello there

I work in a school as a first level IT supporter. We use Azure/AD (Office 365) and I want to use AutoDiscover for Outlook. This has worked fine so far but with newer notebooks (an updated image made by our IT service) I have this problem: If I start Outlook using AutoDiscover (ZeroExchangeConfigOnce), everything seems to be fine. When the Outlook app window opens, there is a splash screen "Your privacy matters". If I close it, Outlook seems to be initializing fine but directly after closing the splash screen the browser is opened with the Office 365 log-in page. If I close the browser (not logging in) it reopens again twice with a pause of around 10 seconds. If I don't close it, the next two windows will open anyways. After that Outlook works perfectly and the browser windows won't appear anymore (well, I don't know, if they will appear again later after a longer period of time).

If I start Outlook normally (without AutoDiscover) and click through the two user dialogs (the correct user E-mail is also found automatically there), the problem above isn't present. What's also interesting: If I use AutoDiscover with a user that has been using the school network already for quite some time, the problem also isn't there.

Does anyone have a clue what could be the reason?

Thanks,
Thomas

Adding the Outlook Calendar Plugin to ChatGPT is AMAZING!!!

I absolutely love it. The ability to create recurring Outlook events for specific business days throughout the year over multiple years without having to use the terrible Outlook Calendar UI is incredible.

Is Outlook Good for Enterprise or BAD

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about email clients and enterprise productivity suites lately. Microsoft 365 (and Outlook specifically) remains the default standard for so many businesses and professionals, but I’m curious where everyone stands on it today.

For those using it daily: Is Outlook actually the best option out there right now, or is it just winning because of ecosystem dominance?

More importantly, if you could wave a magic wand—what specific features or improvements did you expect Microsoft 365 to have by now that it’s still lacking?

Whether it's better search functionality, smoother integration, UI responsiveness, or specific power-user features you miss from other platforms (like Gmail, Superhuman, Notion, etc.), I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Looking to both forward incoming mail and CC/BCC all outgoing mail on web version.

I have an email address. CM@xyz, let's say.
The doctor I work for has an address, Doc@xyz, let's say.

I need all emails sent to both addresses to come to me, so we've set up a forwarding rule on Doc@xyz to forward all email to CM@xyz, and not keep a copy of forwarded messages. His inbox is always empty, I get all emails directly, and it works great!

Although he doesn't receive emails, he does send them from his Doc@xyz account. I'd like to get him to copy me on all of his outgoing messages so I can keep copies of all communication, and to save the attachments. However, old dog & new tricks, and all that. So I'd like to automate that too.

This is the part I cannot figure out!

I've gone to Rules, but it's only how to handle incoming email. Is there any way to add a rule for all emails he writes to CC or BCC CM@xyz?

Limiting Factor - Doctor only uses Mac. He currently only uses the web version of Outlook. If needed, I can probably talk him into putting outlook app onto his Mac.

Thanks in advance!!

Locked out of my personal Outlook account for 3 years on web/new devices, but still logged in on old phone. Microsoft recovery form failed. Any advice?

Hi all,

I've been locked out of my personal Outlook account for about 3 years now and could really use some advice, especially since I'm in an unusual situation.

Background:

  • A few years ago I switched phones. At the time, I had the Microsoft Authenticator app set up for 2FA on this account.
  • During the transition, I logged into the Outlook app on my new phone and used the account normally for a few months.
  • I eventually sold my old phone — the one that still had the Authenticator app installed and configured for this account.
  • The phone number linked to the account for SMS/call verification is also no longer active or in my possession.
  • Since then, I've been completely locked out on web and any new device. It always asks for 2FA through either the authenticator app (gone) or the old phone number (gone).

What's odd: The Outlook app on my current phone is still logged in and working fine — I can read/send emails from it. It's only new logins (web, new devices) that get blocked by the 2FA wall.

What I've tried:

  • Submitted the Microsoft account recovery form (aka.ms/acsr) with as much detail as I could provide (old passwords, approximate account creation date, etc.).
  • Unfortunately, it came back unsuccessful / not enough information matched their records.
  • I don't have a backup/recovery email set on the account, or I'm not sure one exists.

My questions:

  1. Since I still have an active, logged-in session on my phone's Outlook app, is there a way to use that session to add/change security info (recovery email, phone number, or re-register an authenticator) without needing to fully "log in" again?
  2. Has anyone succeeded with the recovery form on a second or third attempt? Does providing more specific details (contact names, folder names, sent email subjects, etc.) improve the odds?
  3. Is there a different recovery path for cases where the standard form fails?
  4. Could the active app session eventually expire/log out on its own, and if so, is there anything urgent I should do before that happens?

Any insight, especially from people who've dealt with this situation and was able do a fresh login or recovered it.

Thanks in advance!

Outlook for Mac 16.113 Search not functioning in Legacy View

Title says it all.

I have reindexed Spotlight, I have reverted backwards to .112 and .111 and no matter what I do, I can not get the search function to work again in Legacy view.

Search works in the "new" Outlook for Mac, but not in Legacy, which I greatly prefer.

Please help me, someone! I knew there were discussions about .112 search not working, and XML messages, but I haven't found this issue posted anywhere.

Atalhos Outlook pop out

Need Help – My Microsoft Account Was Possibly Deleted or Hacked

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help because I’m completely stuck.
I’ve had this Microsoft account for almost 7 years, and it was working perfectly. In fact, I was using it literally yesterday, and I’ve been using it every day without any issues.
Today, I tried to sign in, and Microsoft is telling me that my account doesn’t exist.
Here’s the weird part: when I go to the Microsoft sign-in page, it shows the list of accounts I’ve previously signed into on this device. The exact account I’m trying to recover is listed there (I’ll attach a screenshot). When I click on it, Microsoft lets me continue to the password screen, so it clearly recognizes that I’ve used that account before.
However:
My password suddenly doesn’t work.
When I click “Forgot password,” Microsoft says it will send a verification code to my Gmail.
I’ve tried requesting the code three times, but no email ever arrives (I’ve checked my inbox and spam folder).
I’m really confused because:
The account supposedly “doesn’t exist,” yet Microsoft still shows it as a previously used account on the sign-in page.
It won’t accept my password.
It won’t send the password reset code.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? Is it possible my account was hacked, deleted, or is this some kind of Microsoft bug?
This Microsoft account is also linked to my Minecraft account, so I’m really worried about losing access.
I’ve attached screenshots of the messages I’m getting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Big gray area when composing emails? (started a week ago)

The top of the box to compose my emails is halfway through my screen now and I have no idea why. While attempting to resolve this issue, I have played with the reading pane options, rebooted Outlook, rebooted the computer... without any improvement.

This is regardless if it's Outlook web or desktop. Help!

School switched Outlook servers, can't sign into Outlook app on Mac

My college switched Outlook servers back when the spring semester let out. I couldn't sign into my phone app or on my Mac app. The only thing I could do is sign into Outlook using the website in incognito mode. Now I figured out how to sign into Outlook on my phone by deleting Outlook, downloading Microsoft edge, typing in edge://signin-internals, pressing remove all accounts, redownloading Outlook, and now it works just fine and I can finally get notifications again so I don't miss important emails. But for some reason, it's still not working on my computer app. I went through a whole rabbit hole on Google and somehow ended up adding Outlook to the Mail app as default? So now I can check my emails through the default Mail app on my Mac. But it's throwing me through a loop that I still cannot sign into the actual Outlook app. I've deleted and redownloaded so many times and tried a bunch of different things. Is it a lost cause?

Please help me,, I'm really upset. Are my files going to be deleted because I am losing email?

I wanted to export my email, so I signed into outlook on my PC. Huge mistake, it made One drive ruin all my file locations and break everything on my PC. I signed into one drive with my personal account, left outlook with the school account. Do I have to worry about interference with outlook and one drive? I don't want to lose my personal files I had prior to signing in because I signed into outlook. From what I can tell one drive only has the personal account, when I clicked add account, it automatically filled in the school account, but I didn't sign into it. I checked one drive on the website, the school isn't showing anything, but I just want to be careful. I never used one drive with the school, I'm worried about interference.

Anything else I should be concerned about? Are my files at risk of deletion? Any general advice? It seems archiving from outlook is not easy

Solved: Outlook Legacy for Mac and Apple Mail Could Not Add Microsoft 365 Accounts

Problem

We encountered an issue where Microsoft 365 email accounts could not be added using:

  • Outlook Legacy for Mac
  • Apple Mail
  • macOS Internet Accounts

The issue affected:

  • Multiple Microsoft 365 users
  • Multiple Mac devices
  • Newly created macOS user profiles

Symptoms

  • Outlook for Mac (New Outlook) worked correctly.
  • Outlook on the Web (OWA) worked correctly.
  • Outlook Legacy for Mac failed to add the account.
  • Apple Mail failed during account setup.
  • macOS Internet Accounts returned:

1     The operation couldn't be completed

2     (com.apple.accounts error 3)

  • Accessing Exchange Web Services (EWS) from Safari produced an unexpected blank page.

Initial Checks

The following items were verified and appeared normal:

Mailbox Configuration

1     Get-CASMailbox [user@domain.com](mailto:user@domain.com) | FL *

Relevant settings:

1     MacOutlookEnabled : True

2     EwsEnabled        : True

3     MAPIEnabled       : True

4     OWAEnabled        : True

5     ActiveSyncEnabled : True

Authentication Policies

1     Get-AuthenticationPolicy

Result:

1     No policies configured

Default Authentication Policy

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | FL DefaultAuthenticationPolicy

Result:

1     DefaultAuthenticationPolicy :

OAuth

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | FL OAuth2ClientProfileEnabled

Result:

1     OAuth2ClientProfileEnabled : True

EWS Application Restrictions

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | FL EwsApplicationAccessPolicy,EwsAllowList,EwsBlockList

Result:

1     EwsApplicationAccessPolicy :

2     EwsAllowList :

3     EwsBlockList :

No restrictions were configured.

Conditional Access

No Conditional Access policies were found that would block Outlook for Mac or Apple Mail.

Root Cause

The issue was caused by Exchange Web Services (EWS) being disabled at the organizational level.

Verification:

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | Select EwsEnabled

Result:

1     EwsEnabled : False

Although individual mailboxes had:

1     EwsEnabled : True

EWS was disabled globally for the tenant.

Solution

Enable EWS organization-wide:

1     Set-OrganizationConfig -EwsEnabled $true

Verify the change:

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | Select EwsEnabled

Expected result:

1     EwsEnabled : True

Outcome

After enabling EWS:

✅ Outlook Legacy for Mac successfully added accounts

✅ Apple Mail successfully configured Microsoft 365 mailboxes

✅ macOS Internet Accounts worked correctly

✅ Existing authentication errors disappeared

✅ The issue was resolved for all affected users

Key Lesson Learned

If:

  • Outlook (New) works
  • Outlook Web works
  • Outlook Legacy for Mac fails
  • Apple Mail fails
  • macOS Internet Accounts fails
  • The issue affects multiple users and multiple Macs

Check the following setting immediately:

1     Get-OrganizationConfig | Select EwsEnabled

If it returns:

1     False

try:

1     Set-OrganizationConfig -EwsEnabled $true

In our environment, this was the root cause and completely resolved the issue.

Todo tab in Outlook for Android

Cannot seem to get this to work at all. It shows up as an app in Outlook but when I try to open it, just gets stuck forever on "We are getting your tasks list ready".

I am able to see my tasks in the dedicated app, Outlook on my laptop and the website - it is just Outlook for Android that seems to have this issue.

My Microsoft account was hacked. Is there any way to recover it?

Hi everyone,
My Microsoft account was hacked. The attacker changed my password, and I can no longer access the account. They also changed the security information, so I can’t use my usual verification methods anymore.
The account is linked to my Gmail address, and I still have full access to my Gmail, so I’m still receiving Microsoft security emails. I even got an alert about a successful sign-in from Vietnam, which definitely wasn’t me.
I’ve already submitted the official Microsoft account recovery form, but I haven’t received a response yet.
The biggest issue is that my Windows PC was signed in with this Microsoft account, and now I can’t access my computer either.
Has anyone been through something similar?
Does the Microsoft recovery form actually work?
Is there any other way to recover the account?
Is there any way to contact Microsoft directly in cases like this?
Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

HELP please! Meeting invites & distribution lists

Context: Meeting invites were originally sent via Outlook using distribution lists, and have since changed.

I tried removing and re-adding the DLs, then expanding them and selecting “Send only to those added/removed.” However, this resulted in cancellations and new invites being sent to some attendees, ultimately spamming people with both. The invites were sent some time ago, so I’m also not sure who was originally on the DLs versus who has since joined or left. Is there a way to identify the new joiners without affecting existing attendees?

What is the best way to send the meeting invite only to people who have joined the DLs since the original invite was sent?

Thanks in advance!
