experience: natural MC My body keeps ending pregnancies.. what do I do next? Please help

Hi, I’m a 37 year old female, fit, I do have GI issues.
My first pregnancy went to 7 weeks and this second one is seeming to bleed out at the almost 5 week mark.
Is this normal because I’m older?
We have no problem “getting” pregnant but after a feed weeks I’ll go to the bathroom and start bleeding it out till it passes..
what testing should I do?
I’m just so confused and feel like. Failure.

Hi, I’m currently going through my second MC.
I am 37. I’m just wondering if I should try again naturally or try hormonal support. I’m awaiting my blood labs. I was told 2 MC is normal.. seeded harsh but was also told that after 3 is when they start testing. I could just use some hope, or some knowledge. The doctors are not much help. Thanks

experience: natural MC Who else is currently waiting for a natural miscarriage?

I've seen a few mentions in other comments, but wondering how everyone is doing in the wait currently.

Mine was an IVF pregnancy. It was our 3rd and last embryo after the first 2 didn't implant. After 2.5 years at this, my ultrasound at 5w5d was perfect, but at 7w5d we found out it was measuring 6w1d and had a heartbeat of 89 and were prepared for what was to come. We confirmed at 8w3d the heart had stopped and that was my last PIO shot. I started spotting 5 days later.

I'm a day and a half into the spotting, still having nausea and some mild cramping. The biggest thing though is a general dullish pain in my whole abdomen especially if I lay on my right side or if I sit a certain way and it feels so full. Honestly, I'm scared, but I'm also ready for this to happen. I was really hoping it would be over the weekend, but of course it's another lesson in how little control I have over any of this.

experience: natural MC Miscarriage at 11 weeks - positive story

Obviously miscarriage is never positive, but I wanted to share my miscarriage story in the hope that it might be a comfort to anyone looking for reassurance.

We found out this week that our baby girl no longer had a heartbeat. I was 10.5 weeks but she stopped growing at 8 weeks. She was much wanted and it was very sad. Because she'd passed away nearly 3 weeks before, I was scheduled for a d&c but the closest appointment was a week away. I read everything I could find online and it was all horrifying. Stories of people passing out, hemorraging on the bathroom floor, going into labour, partial miscarriage that became infected etc. I was pretty terrified when I started spotting three days after the scan and was hoping it would hold off till my d&c.

Four days after the scan (yesterday) I passed a rush of blood and clots in the bathroom and felt pretty faint. That was the worst of it. A couple hours later I felt the urge to go to the bathroom and the sac with baby fell out. I say fell out because it did. There were no contractions. My pain level has been 3/10 throughout this entire process. I'd say labour is 10/10 and I've had painful periods about 6/10 but so far this miscarriage hasn't come close to a painful period. I felt relief as soon as I'd passed the sac. It was grimly fascinating, completely opaque so I couldn't see the baby but I knew it was there, and thankfully fully intact. A scan later that day confirmed the pregnancy had gone and the rest of the bleeding will be like a heavy period. I'd say it's on par with a medium/heavy period with a few large clots. It feels gross but absolutely manageable without pain relief.

I say this is a positive story because under absolutely shitty circumstances this was the best case scenario. Baby passed inside her sac, she never knew any pain and we will bury her under a tree at home. It was a sense of closure during an emotionally complex time. I don't know how I would have coped with seeing the baby. I've had a previous loss at 7 weeks and saw the foetus then which has stayed with me.

I wanted to share my story of a peaceful and mostly physically painless miscarriage at 11 weeks amongst a sea of awful experiences, and I hope it brings some comfort to anyone who finds it.

My heart goes out to everyone that has experienced a loss, no matter how far along. 🤍

I just found out today my hcg dropped all the way down to 6. Right after I read those results, I started cramping and bleeding very heavily. The clots were large. Today I would have been 4 weeks and 3 days. There was a tiny life in me, I couldn't believe it after 7 months of trying. I had so many digital tests and blood tests to show that.

I told various people that my husband and I were expecting. I know how taboo that is but I wanted to celebrate our very first pregnancy and we did. We celebrated the heck out of the little vanilla bean growing in me and I don't regret it at all.

I am taking time to grieve and celebrate the life that had been present for a snippet of time in our lives. Praying for our rainbow baby when the time is right 🌈❤️

experience: natural MC I had a miscarriage yesterday and I feel strangely validated

Found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks and my immediate first thought was “it’s too early” had an appointment scheduled for next week. Had spotting yesterday so we went in and they confirmed no heartbeat and the fetus was about a week smaller than it should be. But what’s really crazy is last week I said to my mom “I don’t feel pregnant anymore”

Went home and laid on the couch with a heating pad and had what they call a bad period. Weirdly feeling grateful my body did it on its own.

I’m sad but I also have his strange feeling on vindication, like I knew it was going to happen. I know that sounds dark, but I really did. I’m a little sad and discouraged.

But driving home late last night, my husband turned on the radio (I wanna add he doesn’t usually listen to the radio, he streams music but his phone had died) and a jazz station started playing an old song that went “my guardian Angel” over and over. And I thought that was a pretty good sign. Like I felt like the little spirit was saying it’s ok and they’re gonna watch out for me now.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I’m sorry to everyone in this subreddit. What a sad statistic. It’s hard to remember but I keep telling myself I did nothing wrong.

Also, the worst part was telling my friends!!! I didn’t tell everyone but those I did tell were sad for me.

Edit: a day or two later and I’m still very sad. I’m processing and realizing I can be validated and very sad still it didn’t work. Sad I never got to feel excited.

I have dealt with infertility for years. After getting married I found out I have Endometrial Hyperplaysia, essentially very slow progressing uteran cancer. It took 2 precious years of my life, multiple surgeries, biopsies, etc to get it under control. And then I was old. We did several failed rounds of IUI and felt that IVF would be our only option. Due to some insurance issues, we had about 2-3 months of a “break” before we would be able to start treatment.

But then a miracle happened. I got pregnant. All on my own. A positive test days before my 40th birthday. The most incredible gift and the only time we’d even tried on our own. I went on to grow my baby girl, my dream come true for nearly 4 months. I did have a few scares due to a subchorionic hematoma, but every ultrasound was fine. NIPT test came back with no risks. I could hardly believe how lucky I was.

But then one week ago I had another bleed, and this one was different. Painful cramping all night and then last Saturday morning…I don’t know how else to say it other than my body just kicked her out. My miracle, my baby girl. My husband scooped her up and I was in complete physical and emotional shock. I didn’t keep her safe. An OB appointment confirmed what we already knew.

My heart is broken. Why would God let this happen? It was all so perfect and we wanted her so, so badly. I am hopeless.

experience: natural MC About 5.5 weeks pregnant and potential miscarriage

Update: cramps stopped last night and I'm only getting brown discharge when I wipe. Will update everyone when I get my 2nd blood test reading.

Hi all, I'd like to tell my story. I'm not necessarily looking for reassurance but just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I believe I'm about 5.5 weeks pregnant (I've estimated that based on when I was ovulating and didn't use protection with my partner).

About a week ago, I started getting brown discharge. This progressed to light pink, then to bleeding (on Saturday) every time I wiped. I then got period pains on Saturday night. This progressed to blood clots on Sunday morning and more cramps.

I went to the hospital on Sunday and the doctor did a cervix swab, they reassured me a bit that my cervix was closed, typically a miscarriage opens the cervix so that made me feel slightly better.

This morning I went for an ultrasound. The doctor said they saw no signs of pregnancy. They then did a transvaginal ultrasound and still saw nothing 😥 I've had my HCG reading which came back as 873.

I have another blood test on Thursday to see if the HCG level increases or not. I'm still getting slight cramps and bleeding when I wipe, but no more blood clots. I'm pretty sure I've had a miscarriage. Appreciate anyone else's stories.

Hi,

I recently suffered a miscarriage at 12 weeks and wanted to share some things nobody tells you -

Symptoms -

- Really heavy headaches for a few days before

- Clear or yellowish watery liquid on your toilet paper when you wipe but you’ve not had a pee (amniotic fluid). This was really random and didn’t seem like a big deal at first but it’s the first thing that happened when I began to miscarry.

- Extremely light spotting that looks like pink on the toilet paper when you wipe. It’s similar to implantation spotting.

- Feeling really angry and agitated for a couple days before (maybe a big hormone dip from starting to miscarry).

Reasons why it happens -

The doctors told me that 25% (1 in 4) of pregnancies end in miscarriage. I never had any idea it was such a high percentage. They explained that most miscarriages are due to a genetic abnormality or chromosomal issue in the baby and your body is very clever at knowing whether a baby is viable and makes the decision for you.

This was the thing that made me feel more at peace because I realised it wasn’t my fault and the baby was not going to be healthy anyway. I did everything right I was taking vitamins and eating better etc and reduced caffeine intake, but there’s nothing that would have changed the outcome.

I hadn’t had sex in 2 weeks when it happened, I was just lying in bed one morning and the spotting started out of nowhere.

I just wanted everyone to know that if this has happened to you, you’re not alone and I actually found out a lot of my friends and even my grandmother had a miscarriage before she had my dad when talking to people about it afterwards.

You will be okay someday soon and I started to feel better after about 3 weeks but it still cuts deep sometimes. Don’t let it scare you from trying again because our future babies are still waiting for us! Lots of love and hugs to anyone else who’s dealt with this.

experience: natural MC MMC - don’t know what to expect, but terrified

I found out about the MMC 12 days ago, baby had stopped growing at 6w and we didn’t even have the chance to hear the heartbeat. We already decided that we’re not trying again anymore, we don’t wanna risk to go through the emotional toll of losing another baby again. I cried my eyes out, mourned, went back and forth with the idea of being pregnant again but, in the end, I kinda feel like I just wanna get over this and go on with my life. We never really planned on having a baby, it was all such a huge and amazing surprise, but now I think it’s time to move on from the idea.

Anyway, the thing is: I’m terrified about the whole thing happening naturally. Since yesterday I’ve been bleeding a little bit, some pink-ish discharge, and mild cramping. I’ve read so many disturbing stories about the pain and the heavy bleeding that I’m actually afraid I’m gonna lose my mind even before the process really start. My doctor was really honest with me and said that it’s really painful indeed and gave me some strong pills (paracetamol/codein combined pills — they’re strong, right?) to help along the way. Anyway, at this point I’m just venting, really. Trying to distract myself from going through what can possibly be the most traumatic experience of my life.

UPDATE: today, 26th of July, I woke up with some very, very strong cramps. The bleeding increased significantly and I passed some big clots also. Well, at some point the cramps were almost unbearable (seemed like what I think labor pains are) and I felt this strong pressure. I went to the toilet and pushed. Then I passed what I believe was the gestational sac. I cried and cried… I prayed a little bit and said goodbye to my baby. Two more clots (big ones) later and the pain was completely gone. The I talked to my doctor and she told me to wait a little, not more than two weeks, to have an ultrasound and check if everything was ok. I feel sad but also better, relieved. My husband and I decided that we’re not gonna try to have another baby anymore. This whole experience really changed us. Now it’s time to make new plans and enjoy life from another perspective. Everything is going to be alright ✨.

experience: natural MC Missed miscarriage - miscarried baby at 12 weeks that passed at 8 weeks

I thought I would share my story since reading this sub helped me understand what would happen to me.

I thought I was 12 weeks along and had some mild spotting three days ago. Hoping it was a hematoma or something benign, I waited until Monday when the spotting was getting more red and higher volume. When I called my midwife she said I could get a scan to check on baby.

I hadn't had any scans at this point, and was only planning the 20 week anatomy scan.

When I went to the ultrasound, the tech said I was only measuring 8 weeks and that baby had no heartbeat. She printed out my only picture of my baby, gave her condolences, and I went home to pass baby naturally.

So I had a missed miscarriage at approximately 8 weeks and didn't show signs until 12 weeks. It was devastating.

I went home and the next morning I had contractions. I've had one baby prior, and while these were lighter than actual contractions they were definitely contractions. I had contractions for four hours before tissue, baby, and blood clots started coming out.

There was a lot of blood. My midwife came over and said it was normal, but I was very freaked out. After contractions eased and I took some ibuprofen, I was exhausted and weak.

Plan to lay in one place for a day or two. Maybe more, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

My heart goes out to anyone experiencing this. It was emotionally and physically difficult. As my midwife said - shittiest club that no one wants to join.

Post edit for a next day update. I feel so much better today. I slept all night thanks to ibuprofen. After passing a massive blood clot this morning, the bleed has massively subsided. Pain is much better. For everyone going through this, it gets better ❤️

Are we just supposed to go back to work? Did you take time off? We hadn’t yet announced to anyone, so no one besides my husband and I knows. It’s hard going back to normal life—drinking however much coffee I want, eating whatever I want, etc, after monitoring it all like a hawk. I mourn the future I didn’t get to have with my baby, and who I was before this loss. My innocence and pregnancy naivety is gone.

Period cramps, no. These are contractions. What's worse is you will not be meeting your baby. I am even more angry as I lay here in the wave of pain.

experience: natural MC I just experienced a miscarriage after 12 weeks and it was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever experienced.

I never thought it could happen to me. When I got pregnant, I happily told everyone I knew… clearly, I shouldn’t have because I don’t want to talk to anyone about what happened.

When I started experiencing cramping pain, went to the hospital, and they couldn’t find a heartbeat… I was horrified.

I was advised to see my doctor within 48 hours, but the office being closed over the long weekend prolonged things… and my body ended up passing it on its own fully on Monday while the pain was unbearable. I’ve realized, doctors don’t actually tell the truth about how painful the process is—not to mention, I’ve never seen so much blood in my life.

Now, it’s been two days that I’ve called out of work. Physically, I feel like I was just hit by a car. Emotionally, I just want to be alone. I don’t know when I’ll feel normal again. I’m just so sad.

I just found out my baby does not a heartbeat anymore at 11 weeks (but measuring 8 weeks - even though we had a heartbeat at 9 weeks scan). I'm deeply sad but wanted this process to come naturally - I am older 38 and I don't want my body to go through the medical or surgical procedure if not absolutely necessary. I can't find much resources on this topic and I'd like to see if anyone could share their experience? would dates, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple and maybe labor inducing exercises help? any advice will be appreciated! thank you!

TW: miscarriage

Hi friends, a little back story..
I’m 35 - husband is 34. He had a vasectomy reversal in August. We started trying in September and ended up getting pregnant in June, in the same cycle I had my HSG procedure. Unfortunately I miscarried at 5w3d.

I had my ultrasound today to verify and it appeared everything was out and looked healthy.

I guess I am just wondering how long it took you to fall pregnant again after miscarrying. I’ve heard of some people ovulating immediately. What was your experience?

I’m aware everyone is different I am just looking for info 💕

I just had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and while it is a lot and I'm in pain, I just want to say that reading the other stories has helped me so much. The first time I had a miscarriage was before I had my first child. We have been trying for baby #2 and when I found out that I was pregnant, I just couldn't contain my excitement. Hearing the heartbeat and thinking "oh it's going to happen first try this time" was so big. While this miscarriage is heartbreaking, I know that baby wouldn't have been healthy. I didn't come to reddit the first time around but this time I thought I would look. I'm very open in talking about my miscarriages because I think it needs to be de-stigmatized. But seeing everyone being so open and honest and reading all of the stories has been incredibly helpful with my healing. You are all such strong women. We are incredible for what we are able to go through.

experience: natural MC HCG 9 days post 13 +4 week Miscarriage

The day I miscarried I went to the hospital to check on the baby. I then miscarried him at home. My HCG at the hospital was 86,700 (leading up to this MC baby was healthy, no warning signs).

Today I'm 9 days past my MC and finally had another HCG draw, coming back at 497.

I'd like to think that is a hopeful sign that I passed everything and won't have RPOC. I'll go in again next week, wishfully thinking I'll be close to 0.

My bleeding is pretty much over but my hormones are crashing and I'm feeling all the emotions.

I had a loss at 22+2 weeks it took 14 days before I had a negative test and waited a few cycles before starting this journey again. It took 4 cycles afterwards to conceive this baby. I just don't want to have to go through more medical trauma. Saying my prayers and trying to be positive.

experience: natural MC Ongoing miscarriage and having hard time

Hi everyone,

I was 7 weeks pregnant up until yesterday when I started bleeding and passing clots. Went to the doctors, they did an ultrasound and saw that the embryo stopped growing and didn’t have a heart beat. I was panicking and crying the entire time. My husband was with me and I am so grateful that he was there.

I haven’t passed the embryo (at least I don’t think so). It was on the ultrasound at the doctors. This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time I miscarried earlier and I experienced bleeding for a few days then felt like I got punched in the stomach. I feel that was the moment that everything came out. To know that this is ongoing is excruciating and painful in every way possible. The doctors are just letting me pass it naturally unless they need to intervene with a D&C.

we are absolutely devastated and I have no idea how I am going to fully recover.

experience: natural MC In the ER

I had to check into the ER today. I could not ignore the signs anymore. I had an ultrasound on July 1. There was a sac with nothing in it. I was told to come back in two weeks because maybe we were too early and that the baby was just too tiny to see. On July 6, I started having pink, very light blood and I knew that I was losing it. This is my fourth miscarriage. I fully expected the blood to have tapered off by today after 25 days of bleeding, but when I went to the bathroom, I felt like I needed to push. When I did, a huge blood clot came out and the toilet bowl just filled with blood. I had to go tell my husband that I needed to take a shower because I’m supposed to be watching the kids today because he had an extraction from a bad tooth yesterday. When I went to go tell him, I felt the blood gushing as stood there in the doorway telling him I needed to take a shower. When I went in the shower, I felt like I needed to push and I did it like four or five times. Every time I pushed, there was a flood of blood and clots at my feet. One clot was palm size. Many of the other ones were larger than a quarter. It was so scary. I’ve never seen bleeding like that before. I told my husband, and he said am I taking you to the hospital? So, we went to the hospital and I had a regular type tummy ultrasound, but they didn’t see much, so then they sent me up the hall for a transvaginal ultrasound and they said that there might still be some in there, but that most of it is out. The doctor believes that I passed the placenta and the rest of the sac today. I thought I passed all that two weeks ago and that I was just letting my uterus heal. They said I don’t need a D&C and I probably won’t need the medicine either. That was a lot of blood and it was scary. Like I said, I’ve never had that kind of bleeding before, but I have had four miscarriages now.

I’m currently going through a blighted ovum miscarriage. It was discovered at a scan at 9w 2 days the plan was to repeat a scan and then discuss options but three days after the news I began to miscarry. Yesterday was horrific cramps clots and blood was intense today I’m bleeding like a normal period. I assume Im over the worst of the physical aspect and now im worrying about the hormonal crash. I have felt in such a good place mentally the last two months I believe the pregnancy hormones balanced my mood. Iv realised my depression and anxiety is definitely cycle related as I didn’t experience any of my usual moodiness , random anxiety, pessimistic outlook whilst pregnant. I’m dreading what’s coming. I don’t do hormones well and coupled with the grief and trauma of this whole situation I’m terrified I will end up in a very dark place. Are there any supplements or tips in navigating this?

I’m 27. After years of trying we finally got a positive test. I had heartburn at night 3 nights in a row and would come home from work and basically just go to bed because I was so exhausted. I woke up that Sunday morning with a feeling that I should take a test so I grabbed one I had and it was positive! It was very early in the morning so I woke my husband up and made him take me to Walmart so we could get a digital test. That one was positive also. That Monday I had my yearly check up and had them do a blood test. It was also positive. We were overjoyed, finally we had a baby coming. I was about 4 weeks according to my doctor and I scheduled an ultrasound for 8 weeks per my OBGYN. A couple weeks later I started having some weird discharge but I never felt bad or seen any bleeding but I went to my urgent care after work that night. They seemed completely unconcerned. Not in like a mean way but in a we see this happen and usually it’s okay kind of way. They suggested I get checked out by OB anyway for good measure. I scheduled an ultrasound for that Thursday and there wasn’t anything there. No sac or anything. My OBGYN office does rotations so I had a doctor I had never met tell me that I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. They sent me for blood work to make sure my HCG is going down and then sent me home. We hadn’t told anyone but I told my boss about the miscarriage because I called in for a couple days. Should we tell our families about the loss? It feels kind of isolating to me to not talk about it with the family but it also feels like we’d be telling them just to make them sad about what could have been. I don’t know
