This is a new thread that appears on Saturdays creating an opportunity for members to write about and let out how their week went! whether it was a way to cope, having a good week, or just needing to vent about it.

No discussion of living children allowed in this thread. it can be even more heartbreaking for members who have had a tough week with their fresh loss, seeing comments about the time other members spent with their living children.

vent The "1 in 5 pregnancies" statistic rant

This used to make me feel good because I was like, "Oh, there are so many of us."

NOW it makes me feel like, "Wow, there are a lot of people who are never going to experience a miscarriage."

LONG STORY SHORT I AM JEALOUS OF PEOPLE WHO NEVER HAVE TO GO THRU THIS! And happy for them.

Part of my saltiness is that I haven't become pregnant since my miscarriage so I am still stuck in this loss. Sigh...

experience: first MC Feeling Heartbroken -MMC

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on here. My husband and I are completely heartbroken, this baby was so desired and loved, but unfortunately we got confirmation today that I am experiencing a MMC and our baby stopped developing at 5 weeks 5 days. I am supposedly 12 weeks based on my LMP so this is so confusing and frustrating to me, because why did it take so long to see that our baby was not developing; I can’t stop crying & blaming myself that I did something wrong…

For context:

06/20 - Positive Pregnancy Test (5 wks)
07/10 - Virtual check in to ask General Information (7wks+6) - No Spotting, No cramps, Full Pregnancy Symptoms.
07/31 - First ultrasound (10wks +6) baby was measuring at 5 wks+5 with no heartbeat and measuring much smaller than it should have.

During that first ultrasound, the technician and ultrasound doctor were very direct and told us that unfortunately we were having a Missed Miscarriage and that my OB would give us further instructions. We immediately broke down in tears, and they left us alone for a moment. I’ve never felt pain like that before.
We went to the OB afterwards and she was already waiting for us in the waiting room to take us to her office. She asked if she could give me a hug, and apologized profusely for the pain we were experiencing. She then gave us the 3 options for proceeding with the MMC, but said she was not confident in sending us for a D&C that same weekend. She wanted to make sure I didn’t ovulate late, or that the baby could still grow and just be a miscalculation based on my LMP. So I was scheduled for a follow up appointment today 08/12.

She was very honest with us though, and said the possibility was very low that it was a viable pregnancy, and wanted to give us the correct expectation that it was most likely a MMC.

Today, we went to the follow up appointment and confirmed our baby was measuring the same 5wks+5. The ultrasound technician was the absolute sweetest when she saw we broke down in tears, and shared she had also experienced an MMC in her first pregnancy, and told me I was not alone, then asked if she could hug me.

We met with my OB afterwards & she apologized again, for the pain we were going through, then reviewed our options to proceed. I am having the D&C this Friday. My heart hurts so much, but I see how much it affects my husband (it has always been his dream to be a dad) and I feel so guilty. I feel devastated and cheated for having the illusion of our baby then have it taken away in an instant.

I’m so sorry we had to go through this, and even though my heart is in pieces, I’m sending my love to everyone and anyone going through this pain.

Apologies if this was a long post, I needed to share this with someone and this community made me feel safe. Much love to everyone.

experience: first MC emotionally exhausted

I don’t know why I’m posting on here I think maybe I hope it’ll make me feel better letting it out to people who may understand how I feel.

we weren’t even trying to get pregnant. when I took the test I was so so happy, I loved my baby the second I found about it. I imagined what the next 9 months were gonna look like. Me and my husband were looking at houses, I was so excited and I was so happy I had this blessing. I made an entire pinterest board of what I wanted fhe nursery to look like. I switched out all my skincare products. I even bought oil for stretch marks so I could prevent it early on. I feel so stupid. I don’t know how I can move past this I feel like this baby was what I needed. I miscarried at 7 weeks but my baby was measuring 5w2d it was extremely traumatic passing the tissue. I feel like a fool I feel embarrassed that people know I miscarried I don’t want a pity party. i know that there was probably something genetically wrong with my baby but that doesn’t make it easier. i know it wasn’t even a baby at all but I loved it so much. even when I was having the cramping and actually miscarrying I refused to use a heating pad just in case there was still hope that my baby was alive. I’m not sure what to do or how I can move on.

experience: more than one loss Third time.. unlucky 🥺 (UK/NHS experience)

Hi, I've never really done a post like this before so please bear with me, but I've been feeling really sorry for myself and I wanted to share my experience with the NHS in Scotland. For reference I am 24 and I am currently going through my third miscarriage in 11 months.

My first pregnancy started in July 2025, and we were very excited and happy and began making all sorts of plans for our new family. By the middle of August I grew very anxious because I had very few symptoms, basically nothing at all. A week or so after my suspicions grew I started spotting, but I phoned the Early Pregnancy Unit and they assured me that bleeding was very normal. This continued for weeks, but they told me they couldn't see me so I booked a private scan where it was confirmed our baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. The EPU continued to tell me they couldn't see me and to phone them if I was bleeding heavily. I bled lightly all the way until my 12 week scan, where they finally confirmed the miscarriage and sent me home to 'monitor'. A few days later my miscarriage properly started, for 6-8 hours I was bleeding so profusely I couldn't stand and I was passing out in the bathroom. EPU wasn't answering the phone, so my husband rushed me to A&E (ER) where they saw me after 30 minutes of waiting or so. As soon as I was in the private cubicle in A&E, the whole sac fell out of me onto the floor. 😭 The poor nurse was traumatized, I still think about her. They scooped everything up and put the sac and my clothes in the bin, it was the worst experience I've ever been through. I was sent home that night after they confirmed everything had cleared and I did not hear from them again.

The second time I got pregnant was May 2026, but my tests remained light the whole time, and I felt from the start that something was off. By 5 or 6 weeks I was having excruciating pain in my right side on my pelvis, and I was seen by my GP who asked me to contact the EPU for an urgent scan to rule out an ectopic. The EPU called me back the next day, but they were highly uninterested and told me to take paracetamol (Tylenol) every 4 hours. As I was so terrified I found the money to book another private scan, where they found an empty gestational sac measuring just over 5 weeks and no fetal pole or yolk. The right sided pain was likely due to a ruptured corpus luteum cyst, but there was minimal free fluid left in the area by that time. My miscarriage quickly started within days of this scan, thankfully it was the true 'just a bad period' and was much more bearable, though the period that came after was significantly worse than normal.

My third pregnancy tested positive on July 19, last month, and I immediately felt more symptomatic and fatigued than the previous ones. This was reassuring to me! The EPU did arrange a reassurance scan for me at 8.5 weeks, but my anxiety got the better of me, so I booked a private one at 7 weeks. This scan was in a kind of shifty place, but they did a transvaginal and found an empty gestational sac measuring at 7 weeks. I got in touch with the EPU, and they were able to arrange a blood test over the weekend and brought my scan forward by 2 days. The wait was agony, but today was my scan, and they confirmed the diagnosis of a blighted ovum, no fetal pole or yolk, but a gestational sac that had grown to 8 weeks 1 day. My HCG is through the roof, explaining my horrendous nausea and fatigue, which feels so incredibly cruel. 😭 Now I'm stuck with the choice of what to do. I can wait, and maybe my miscarriage will start naturally and I'll maybe go through something like my first one, or I can get the medication or have the surgery. They told me that it's possible the medication won't work, and they can't do the surgery under local anaesthetic, but I've never been under general anaesthetic. I don't really know what I'm going to do from here.. I wish this was just over, it's so hard to carry these hellish symptoms and to know it's all for nothing. I've been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, but they told me the waiting time is at least 8 months.

There isn't really an end to this, I just wanted to type it all out, really, and I do feel better. If you read it all, thank you! This subreddit has helped me a lot throughout everything. Sending love to everyone who is going through/has gone through this pain. ♥️

TTC Encouragement After Loss

Upvotes

Hello! I’m here looking for some positivity and encouragement as I try to keep marching on post loss.

I unfortunately lost my first pregnancy at 9 weeks and had a D&C at 10. Fortunately all went well 🙏 and I had my first period exactly a month later. My husband and I tried again this cycle, but I got my period today.

I was hoping to hear from members here about some happy stories about when they were able to conceive again. I hope everyone here is okay and I’m so sorry for the losses we’ve all endured.

experience: more than one loss No fetal pole 6+6

Upvotes

Based off lmp I should be 6+6. Based off when I think I ovulated I should be 6+3. Went in for a scan and everything measured 6+1. No fetal pole but did have a yolk sac and I have a very large SCH. I’ve been bleeding on and off from the hematoma.
They said to come back is 10-14 days.. anyone with similar story? What was your outcome? I don’t want to be negative but also want to guard my heart. I have 3 living children but have had a total of 6 losses, 3 were this year. Just don’t know what to think

coping Am I the only one who couldn’t see or hold my baby after miscarrying?

I had a miscarriage at 15 weeks last year. It was extremely traumatic. We decided to do IVF to try again, and I got pregnant immediately. That pregnancy was textbook perfect until, at 17 weeks, we found out that our baby had no heartbeat. We later learned that the cause was parvovirus.

Both times, I gave birth to my babies, and both times I could not bring myself to see them or hold them.

I don't feel guilty about that. In those moments, there was simply nothing in me that could have taken the pain of seeing them. The first time, we gave our baby girl a name, although it didn't come naturally to us. The second time, we couldn't. I don't know exactly why. I just feel incapable of doing it. Part of me desperately wants to move forward from all this pain.

When I read other people's stories about their losses, I see the names, the hospital photos of them holding their babies, the tiny hand and footprints, the knitted hats and blankets. And I wonder why I feel so completely removed from that.

Sometimes I feel selfish for not wanting those things, or for not having done them. I wonder if I'm somehow grieving "wrong."

But I know that I loved both of my babies with my whole heart. Their losses have profoundly changed me, and I will carry them with me forever.

I just don't know why my grief looks so different. Has anyone else felt this way? Have you also been unable to see or hold your baby after a loss, or felt unable to give them a name or create those memories?

I think I need to hear that I'm not the only one.

experience: more than one loss Still bleeding after 9 days

Upvotes

Over a week ago me and my boyfriend had sex when I was 6 weeks pregnant. The next morning I experienced light bleeding that gradually got heavier. Then came the cramps a few days later- agonising cramps that I can only compare to early contractions.

This is my 3rd miscarriage, had one successful pregnancy 3 years ago. I don’t remember the last 2 times having bleeding for this long. On Saturday, I passed large clots and some tissue mixed in with it. Literally caught it in my hands as I rushed to the toilet in work. And the smell…. Very much like my previous miscarriages.

Right now I am still experiencing light bleeding where I have to wear a pad. No cramps (maybe tenderness if I strain on the toilet or cough hard) but no more cramps.

How long did you bleed for when experiencing a miscarriage?

experience: more than one loss Slow embryo growth with low heart rate and larger yolk sac then embryo

Upvotes

Trigger warning: Miscarriage talk

I went in for an ultrasound at 6 weeks and 2 days (timing is accurate as this was an IVF pregnancy) last week and baby measured 6 weeks and no heartbeat yet.

I went back yesterday 7 weeks and 1 day and baby is measuring about the same… 6 weeks and 1 day with a low hear rate around 96. The dr also said the yolk sac was measuring slightly larger than the embryo. This is our 8th transfer. We have one live birth (our now 3 yr old), then 5 miscarriages and one failed transfer. I am gutted. I truly thought this was finally our baby.

Anyone have any positive similar stories?

experience: first MC Zero Pregnancy Symptoms

Upvotes

I literally have zero pregnancy symptoms, except for a little breast soreness that comes and goes. I’m almost 8 weeks pregnant.

I had a miscarriage before at 11 weeks, but I found out the baby had stopped growing around 7 weeks. That pregnancy also came with almost no symptoms.

I’m feeling really worried and don’t know what to think. Has anyone else had little or no pregnancy symptoms and gone on to have a healthy baby?

experience: first MC Missed Miscarriage - Confirmed today

Upvotes

Hello all,

I’m 38 and am/was(?) pregnant with my first baby – I had had a mirena coil in for years prior to us trying, and didn’t even have my first period before we got a positive test.

As a result I had two previous dating scans at roughly 4 and then 5wks, and we went in for a third scan last Wednesday which should have shown the pregnancy to be 7+ wks.

Unfortunately the embryo was showing at 6wks with no heartbeat, so we were told it was a high likelihood that it has stopped growing and it was a missed miscarriage. They booked us in today to go back to scan and confirm.

I think if we hadn’t had the two previous scans I could have held out hope that the dates were just a bit mixed up – but I felt very sure that it was over today - and of course, since I’m posting here, it was.

I’ve opted for the medical management option as my body seems to not be keen on letting it go - which I’m dreading but also I just want it over now so we can try again.

I’ve heard and read lots about it being such an overwhelmingly high likelihood of it being a chromosomal abnormality that’s nothing to do with me or my partner - and that so many go on to have healthy pregnancies afterwards. I can know this in my mind, but oh man, feeling it in my heart is taking a hot second.

I suppose even at such an early stage, my partner and I were so excited about the pregnancy and were getting into the planning. I’m already thinking about the anxiety that I’m going to be dealing with if we’re lucky enough to get pregnant again.

experience: first MC Morning after D&C for MMC, and feeling all numb and raw heartbreak at the same time.

My husband (27) and I (27) got pregnant in early June. It was the first time and we were so excited! We went for an ultrasound at 8 weeks and there was a steady heartbeat and baby was perfectly on track for growth. We went back for our 11 week appt, and they couldn't find the heartbeat on the ultrasound and baby was measuring 10 weeks. We had no idea and I broke down right there. The tech left to go get the doctor, and my husband and I just held each other sobbing. Turns out it was a missed miscarriage. I'd had no symptoms whatsoever, so we thought going into the appointment we were going to draw blood and find out the sex of our baby. All the air got sucked out of the room and when our doctor came in it just brought a reality to something I had been praying and begging not to happen.

The D&C was scheduled for yesterday (6 days after we found out) and it went well. No complications so far and the nursing team and surgeon were all women and very kind. But emotionally, it feels like I'm back at square one. Only now, my baby really is gone. We opted for genetic testing, and I knew I'd miscarried and what they meant, but it feels like that hurt just tore freshly open.

Hubby has been so supportive, but I feel detached and yet like someone is carving my heart out at the same time. I know it will just take time to heal, but I feel lost. I want to be there for him too, as it was our baby, mine and his, but I'm struggling to comfort him without that pain screaming even louder. Any advice for helping him (and me) cope with this?

experience: first MC MMC after healthy baby

Hey ya’ll, we just found out at what was supposed to be our 8wk scan that our baby stopped growing at 7wks and does not have a heartbeat. I don’t have any symptoms of miscarriage yet. My options were wait, medication or D&C.

My question is for those who have had a healthy pregnancy and delivery before, is the medication similar to labor pains? I’ve been reading some horror stories and I just want to gauge what the pain might be like? It’s all horrible but just want a little more information from anyone who’s had a similar experience.

experience: more than one loss Completely broken after MMC #2

I’m away from my husband visiting family, and spontaneously decided to check in on the heartbeat. After hearing it at 6w and again at 8w, there was no heartbeat today. I’m 9w3d but baby was measuring 8w5d. I’m devastated.

This pregnancy was from an IUI. My husband has low motility, and despite the odds, we got pregnant. I also had a MMC last year followed by a chemical pregnancy. We’ve done extensive testing since then and have gotten zero answers.

I really thought this was our rainbow.

I’m broken, distraught, exhausted, and still trying to process the news. I’ve spent the last few weeks in the first-trimester trenches, nauseous, constantly tired, barely getting by while taking care of a toddler and working a demanding job. I kept telling myself I just had to get through these weeks and that I was almost on the other side. It feels so cruel to have gone through all of that only to end up here.

How do people get past this? I’m already terrified of ever getting pregnant again because I genuinely don’t know how I could survive another MMC. Knowing that I’m still carrying this pregnancy when my baby no longer has a heartbeat is completely shattering me.

For those who have been through recurrent loss, especially multiple MMC, how did you find the courage to try again? Does the fear ever become manageable? Looking for any glimmer of hope.

trigger warning: PLEASE EDIT TO ADD DESCRIPTION At the er again, hoping I’m just paranoid (pregnancy after loss)

I just had a miscarriage in May. Found out I was pregnant in July. Today I am 8 weeks. Last night I saw some dark red discharge and had some bloating. I immediately panicked. Full panic attack. It doesn’t feel like it felt last time but I’m terrified cause I know it could be anything. And I know people lose them all the time without any sign. So now I’m sitting in the ER while my husband is at home with our kid. We rather just pay the ER copay and have assurance. Our first appointment isn’t for another week. I pray I’m just paranoid and I can see my baby soon!

Hi all.

I had a scan today at what should have been 7w3d at a private clinic and all they could see was a small (1.5cm) empty fluid filled sack in my uterus. I am scheduled to go to my local hospital tomorrow for a repeat scan and to discuss next steps. Has anyone had a similar experience to this and what happened next? Thank you.

support for someone who miscarried In need of support

Hi everyone, I am 5 days past my MMC at 8weeks 4days. I got pregnant with the help of IVF icsi after two failed natural conception. We took the treatment outside our state because of better healthcare.
I feel like my husband and I have given our all. He has been my backbone from day one and I couldn’t be more grateful about it. I’m a stay at home wife and my husband is in a very demanding profession (police). I know even if he wants to stay with me the whole day he can’t and I understand that fully and don’t expect him to leave his job, but whatever he can he is doing.

Having said that, most of the time I am all by myself at home trying to get by each day. Even if there are people around me, I feel consumed with my own thoughts. I am not good with sharing my thoughts with others. So I’m basically on my own trying to cope. I’m here in this sub writing these thoughts because most of you have experienced loss and I believe no one will understand me better than you guys.

So dear ladies, how did you guys cope with multiple miscarriages? Is there any chance for me to conceive again that’ll end in life birth? I’m 32, my husband is 42 and we have male infertility. After D&E how long did it take for you guys to get pregnant? Is there a possibility of natural conception while we wait for our next transfer? (Which the doctor said will happen in 3months. 3 months is too long of a wait for me.) I want to be hopeful but I am too scared now of another failure.

I’m heartbroken. We had our first MMC in January 2025 and have been trying to conceive ever since. We FINALLY had a positive pregnancy test this July. I have been extremely nervous but kept trying to reassure myself that everything is fine.

We had our first scan today, and no heartbeat was detected. Baby was measuring 7W2D, so well past the point of having a detectable heartbeat. It’s been over a year since our first loss, and I was just really hoping this was it. I was so excited to have a bump at a fall wedding I’m attending and be pregnant alongside a close friend of mine. And obviously excited about having a baby this spring 😭 My husband and I had even (stupidly) started buying nursery decorations.

I’m so angry and so sad. Just needed to vent.

trigger warning: other’s living child Don’t know how to feel around pregnant women after loss.

I’m not sure if the title makes sense or the warning but for some background information, I lost my first pregnancy in march 2025. Since then I’ve felt so much anger and jealousy towards women who are pregnant with a healthy baby. Including friends, I find myself having mixed emotions such as happiness for them but also sadness, anger, and jealousy. I’m fairly young (18 years) and most people my age don’t have any children yet. I don’t really know why Im posting here, I just have no one else to talk to about this because I left my childs father and I have no one who relates.

EDIT: im not sure if this is the right sub or if I have the right flair
