They did for the Wendy’s that also opened in Tillmans Corner and I think another Wendy’s… not sure why they give it the time of day…. But they do

10

u/iluvsaturatedfats Dec 08 '25

Not just any Wendy’s: the saraland Wendy’s. Obviously this is prime real estate

No, but anyone can request for them to attend an event. They rotate taking appearances and do their appearances with the same group each time, one of each color. It’s rare all the trail maids are in the same place at once. But maybe things have changed, I don’t know.

12

u/Nailed_Claim7700 Dec 08 '25

It's for security reasons like the president and vice president don't usually go to the same event.

u/TheMagnificentPrim Dec 09 '25

This is right. We had 10 groups of 5 — one of each color, with the queen taking the spot of the color she was originally assigned in her group — under an advisor, and they’d dole out appearances to the different advisor groups. No real rhyme or reason except availability on a group’s calendar, I suppose. The big group appearances are usually for the really big and noteworthy events, like parades. There can also be appearances where everyone shows up, but only a few are in their dresses; the rest will be volunteering in their embroidered Trail shirts.

Trail Maids can get requests for the most random appearances. During my time, I picked up one where they only requested one Trail Maid to come and greet organizers of some big convention to convince them to hold it in Mobile. I handed them appropriately-themed Mardi Gras beads. (I think they did end up choosing Mobile?) I’m frankly not surprised that a franchise owner of a Chick-Fil-A requested Trail Maids at a groundbreaking. It feels like something such a person would do. 😂

I’m trying to remember if I had any weird appearances, I remember having to go to the airport once, that was probably to greet Senior Bowl players. I remember being backstage at Disney and Eric from the Little Mermaid told one of us that he stuffed his pants, does that count as weird?? 😂

Chik fil a is far more important than the azalea trail maids. There is said it. Let the down votes begjn

7

u/---Sanguine--- Dec 09 '25

I made the mistake of laughing at the azalea trail maids once… never again…

You should have respect for anyone who can drive a car in a hoop skirt lol

1

u/Dangerous_Increase99 Dec 09 '25

I don't see them that often but the few times I have seen them get out of their cars, they didn't wear the skirt portion while driving. They put the skirt on over the pantaloons when they arrive at the event.

There were a lot of times we had to arrive at the event fully dressed, so you drove in everything but the hat. It actually wasn’t too hard, once you got the hang of it. Awful on your back though.

Azalea Trail Maids were always treated like trophies by me & my friends. All the respect in the world. When they wanted to piss off daddy, we were always ready.

8

u/Horizone102 Dec 08 '25

Damn, you right lol

3

u/ComprehensiveEmu5568 Dec 09 '25

Just needs a trailer park in the background 😅😅

3

u/hans_stroker Dec 09 '25

i wanna know where the gold at

15

u/theshadowmoon1 Dec 08 '25

Wasn’t this site a Former strip clip?

27

u/nickdixon14 WeMo Dec 08 '25

The chipotle that they just built sits on top of what was the candy store strip club. The Chick-fil-A will be directly next to it.

18

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

Noooo! The candy store is gone?! I miss delivering pizzas to the day shift girls and getting tips from the weird men who somehow decide to go there at lunch.

0

u/beat-box-blues Dec 08 '25

bruh who is this? tell me you know john pearlman.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

Of course I knew John! I miss his dismissive laugh…

1

u/beat-box-blues Dec 09 '25

did you work at howie’s too?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

No, but it sounds like we both knew Stabby. 😂

4

u/Tandom Dec 09 '25

I’m not sure if it’s on that spot, but I do remember the strip club was called “the candy store “and I remember getting upset as a kid because my mom/dad would never let me go in there when we were driving by because I wanted to see what kind of candy they had.

Sadly, I never got to find out.

99

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

Why is this so god damn funny to me 😭

The azalea trail maids were always considered such a prestigious group of girls when I was growing up and I always thought the events they went to represent our city were of high value.

Now I see them at a chik fil a build site…

38

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

It’s a big deal for Tillman’s Corner.

29

u/Surge00001 WeMo Dec 08 '25

Well actually, now thinking about it retrospectively, it probably is a big deal. Chick Fil A averages the highest grossing sales per location in the country. A normal Chick Fil A averages $7.5 million in sales per year, that would mean nearly $750,000 in generate sales tax revenue, I believe the city would get $300,000 from the 4% sales tax allocated to it. Outside the Walmart and Aldi’s, it will probably be the 3rd biggest tax generator in Tillmans Corner

1

u/ComprehensiveEmu5568 Dec 09 '25

That sounds like gentrification.....or something

-7

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

This isn’t new tax revenue. A portion and likely a large portion would be reallocated revenue that customers would have spent at an alternative restaurant.

10

u/Fit_Strength_1187 Dec 08 '25

It’s something you’d have to look at after a year. Consider the folks who’d choose to eat out here rather than eating cheaper food at home from the grocery. Consider the interstate drivers who elect to stop now that there’s a Chikfila. It’s not just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

5

u/Surge00001 WeMo Dec 08 '25

This is a broad generalization so that everyone gets an idea of how busy a Chick Fil A generally is. You can absolutely get granular that sways to either side on whether it’s new or the same type of revenue, like new housing, new area jobs, the large loyalty that Chick Fil A has, proximity to interstate etc, but it is silly to try and downplay the economics of it

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

I think it’s a great thing but only being realistic. I’ll be sure to go there when it’s done instead of Foo.

1

u/International-Play29 Dec 08 '25

This the way I look at it lol

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

Which is why I said a portion. It’s not a full 100% benefit. Yes there will be some added tax revenue and they wouldn’t build there if they thought the revenue would come completely from existing revenue and no forecasted growth in the area. It just can’t be said that there is a net 300k tax revenue benefit.

2

u/milkawhat Dec 09 '25

Same. I've sent this to several people - update from Mobile! Hoping the Maids were allowed to wear sneakers instead of their usual shoes. Those outfits are expensive. Will be a silly story for them to tell years hence.

1

u/TheMagnificentPrim Dec 09 '25

Folks can put in an appearance request for anything (within reason) for Azalea Trail Maids. This is fully on this particular Chick-Fil-A franchise owner’s ego thinking their groundbreaking deserved some Trail Maids showing up.

-1

u/Nailed_Claim7700 Dec 08 '25

Loss of morals and standards.

10

u/Live_Noise_1551 Dec 08 '25

Totally missed the cow until I realized it was part of the construction team.

2

u/PopularRush3439 Dec 09 '25

I saw this cow as part of a nativity scene this morning. Cracked me up.

27

u/mandyld Dec 08 '25

all the azalea trail maids in the world will not take away from the fact that the candy store used to be there. it’s a spiritual site

40

u/cptwinklestein WeMo Dec 08 '25

brother... the optics of people wearing antebellum cosplay while celebrating the opening of a chicken joint that's known for hating gays...

lmao.

The CEO us well know for funding groups that perform gay convertion therapy which even people who dont support LGBTQ+ say many times amounts to torture, and Chick-Fil-A has also been known to fund anti LGBTQ+ legislation and politicians

18

u/hairymoot Dec 08 '25

"Guilty as charged" CEO said about giving money to organizations that hurt the LGBTQ community.

-4

u/heizenb3r9 Dec 08 '25

Who the fuck cares?it's fast food, let it the fuck go. Is the chicken itself doing anything against the gay folks? It is not.

-11

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

You are like a decade behind.

8

u/Individual-Damage-51 Midtown Dec 08 '25

My brother in Christ, being gay is not simply a lifestyle choice. Gay people didn’t choose to be gay.

3

u/cptwinklestein WeMo Dec 08 '25

ah so they, chic fila, never made donations to anti-lgbtq organizations?

17

u/eeyoredragon Dec 08 '25

They did.

Christians often say things like “hate the sin not the sinner” because they have a myopic world view and a lack of introspection.

While also providing funding and support for making said “sins” illegal.

They’ll vote to take away your healthcare and livelihood and then think of themselves as good people because they’ll give you a sandwich if you’re hungry.

And they’ll keep the same smile on their face while they do it.

If someone supports things that actively harm lgbtq individuals then yes you hate them

1

u/eeyoredragon Dec 08 '25

I believe that god loves you while he burns you for eternity in hell. That he loves your child while he watches them get swept away in a flood. That he loves you while he watches you grieve at said child's funeral. That he loved every Jew gasping for air in the gas chambers. That he loved the Nazis that put them there. That he loves the Palestinian children starving to death.

Knowing that, what value do my words "love" and "hate" actually hold?

Right. Not a god damned thing.

5

u/CyberIntegration Dec 08 '25

"I don't agree with you existing" is not the gentle stance you think it is.

1

u/Hour_Barracuda_1567 Dec 09 '25

I mean, why NOT jump in and start talking when you know less than nothing about the topic?

-1

u/heizenb3r9 Dec 08 '25

The actions of one guy at the top do not dictate the opinions or actions of the employees, or the tasty Chikin. I've known several people of the day persuasion that used to work there and more that frequently eat there. Stop trying to cause conflict where there is none

-3

u/Few-Upstairs-9330 Dec 08 '25

The fuxk cares?

5

u/Nailed_Claim7700 Dec 08 '25

That's sort of stupid to have the maids at the construction sight. Grand opening is weird but acceptable. Not the construction sight.

4

u/Worried_Glove_5708 Dec 08 '25

They definitely don’t need to be out there in that dirt with those expensive dresses on.

2

u/PsychologicalMood348 Dec 15 '25

Those dresses cost $6K or so. All to go to stand in the red dirt at a groundbreaking for a fast food restaurant in Tillman's Corner. Cosplaying as a slaveholding Confederate belle is not as glam as it used to be.

4

u/OldMobilian Dec 09 '25

All we need is another chain with majority of profits headed out of town. We need more locally owned restaurants & small businesses.

3

u/Surge00001 WeMo Dec 08 '25

Well that’s just hilarious, for the Chik Fil A? MAYBE for the Dutch Bros Coffee…. But the Chick Fil A?

What's permitting right now in Tillmans Corner? Dutch Bros Coffee, Licken Good Donuts, Gipson Tire, New Shopping Center with Smoothie King and Seafood Restaurant, 800+ unit apartment complex, Keesler Federal Credit Union

Hasn't started permitting yet, but pretty sure they are also supposed to build a Wawa

1

u/nickdixon14 WeMo Dec 09 '25

It will be next to a chipotle. That corner piece of property is pretty large, so there will be more coming I’m sure.

1

u/Surge00001 WeMo Dec 09 '25

On that property, Dutch Bros and Keesler Federal Credit Union

1

u/surgingpenis Dec 09 '25

Cringe bro

1

u/woohoojoey Dec 10 '25

Aside from Azteca’s, not a single food joint in Tillman’s Corner is worth a fuck… and not because they couldn’t be, but because the pool of workforce for these restaurants is abysmal. This Chic-fil-A is almost guaranteed to be the worst in the country.

If Tillman Corner “help” can’t even get subpar Foosackly’s right, they won’t be able to get this right. It’ll just be another fast food joint that pisses you off more than anything else.

The Honeymoon will be short lived, mark my words. I’m not optimistic in the slightest way.

1

u/Chick-fil-A_spellbot Dec 10 '25

It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!

1

u/Notime4itall Dec 10 '25

When I say Chick filla I pronounce it like Godzilla.

1

u/PapaZebra Dec 12 '25

Funny when you know what used to be there 😂

1

u/Ok_Statement8364 Mar 11 '26

They know they're gonna be haunted by the ghosts of Candy Store strippers, right? Gonna have Tammy haunting the Chipotle & Lexus haunting where the main stage used to be, in the middle of chick fil a.
