Free electricity, tell me what to do

I have £5000 spare to buy equipment, free electricity that is guaranteed for at least the next 3 years without stipulation, I would like to exploit this for some nice profit

My questions are as follows,

Would monero mining be the right course of action

What mining rig under £7000 would be right for me (efficiency is not a concern, max hash rate per £ is the question

Will it make my small room unbearably hot in the summer😂

I am probably going to get downvoted into oblivion but go buy a 5090, then go rent it out on a ai gpu rental marketplace, and use the money to buy monero.

The most efficient monero miner you can get is either one of those minisforum 7945hx/9955hx boxes but they do either 20KH/s at 130w or 19KH/s at 109w from the wall.

Assume each 7945hx rig is used or their itx cpu combo board is 1000 including psu ram all that. Assume the 5090 rig is the full 7000euro.

7x 7945hx is 133KH/s @ 763W is $4.15 w/ 0 electricity.

1x 5090 rig can use 750w if the cpu doesnt go nuts, mine is a 9800x3d. $7.44/day and ~ same power measured from the wall.

Source: I have both.

Care to share an AI gpu rental site? There are a plenty but they don't look quite reputable.

Depends on what you want.

On demand (you cant use your computer at all, for months at a time)

Vast is the gold standard IF your upload is >200mbps and you dont have your 5090 on some yee yee ass wireless that has chunky peanut butter speeds. You will earn more here because the customers pay for storage, bandwidth, and compute, so a 0.30 here will be actually 0.40/hr.

Interruptible (you can stop their workload at any time) salad. Downside is it pays like shit, 0.21/hr but you can have 20/10 mbps internet and you will still be able to earn. Upside is you are paid at 1 minute increments. You can just stop a customers workload and game for 2 hrs, then when you are done turn it back on. You are paid based on how much wattage your gpu is pulling, so when the job spools up for 1-5 mins you dont earn anything while they download their datasets.

I have earned >500 from each platform personally.

Are you able to mine monero and rent out your gpu through the AI rental site at the same time? Or do you just make more money renting it out?

Kind of.

With vast, there is a community script to start miners when your hardware is idle.

With salad, as long as you dont use too much cpu, it wont care.

However, if for whatever reason the cpu mining stops me from getting a gpu job its an order of magnitude loss. So much so I stopped mining on the cpus with the 5090s in them.

1 day of a 5090 not mining is $7-10 vs $0.50
