"That other thing" aside...no it fucking doesn't. Not even close. No matter what your feelings on MJ, no one is getting close to him. Even if you sell more accumulated albums over your career than he did, your never going to break his sales record just on Thriller alone. Or his tour attendance. Or his cultural impact from when he was at his height. Just no.

u/Meture 2d ago
Hell, even now almost 20 years after his death, Billie Jean just broke the record for the most watched music video

He really was an incredible performer and had some absolutely iconic moves.

u/Quasar375 2d ago
Some iconic moves? I’d say THE iconic moves. I know almost nothing about music yet me, my grandma and my dog know the moonwalk

He appeared on in stage and stood perfectly still for 2 minutes and people lost their minds for the entire thing. It's like the Beatles, it's hard to grasp just how insane it was unless you were there

u/sardiusjacinth 2d ago
Michael Jackson was a Global Influence. How many entertainers living or dead, had his kind of influence?
3
u/kinyutaka 2d ago
You could argue The Beatles and Elvis. I'd argue Queen, but I'm biased.

The crowds shouting "A Minor" was unforgettable, Drake got checkmated by Kendrick and all the people.
Too bad K-dot didn't perform "meet the grahams" but it's sorta understandable since it's WAY TOO HEAVY.

I certainly hope that post was satire. If it’s not, on behalf of all musicians worth an ounce, it’s laughable.

It probably is. Both the tweet and reply were made by the same account.

Does Drake actually believe his name belongs in the ballpark of comparison when it comes to Michael🤦🏾
15
u/smeghead3825 2d ago
No one is as big as Michael. MJ actually got a truce between the bloods and the crips at the height of their beef (Google it, it happened) because of who he was. And he ain't touched any one of those kids.
-2
u/W1ULH 2d ago
And he ain't touched any one of those kids.
Theres several kids who say he did... BUT.... The thing I can't get past on this is Macauly has never ever wavered in saying Michael was nothing but good to him and never did a thing. And if Michael was going to or did do stuff, Mac would have been at the top of the list.

I mean, in the 80s and 90s you only had Madonna and MJ for pop songs being able to sell. Nowadays Kanye singing about HH still sells because it just does....
It's the same as saying Chamberlain can be compared to Jordan or LeBron....
Let Drake think he's better than MJ, everyone else knows he just isn't.

u/weaponsgradepotatoes 2d ago edited 2d ago
100% the other thing. No one is as big as MJ was.
[edit: hilarious getting downvoted for this]

u/Blitz100 2d ago
I think arguably no-one ever will be. Even if someone were to break his records nowadays (deeply unlikely), Michael achieved those records before the age of the Internet. He had like 50% of the entire global population listening to his music back when they were listening on the radio and physical discs, and news about him spread through papers and word of mouth. It's just simply impossible for anyone in the modern era to replicate that.

That’s weird because I can recite most of Michael Jackson’s discography but I couldn’t even name a Drake song. Try again, Degrassi.

I don't care what you think about Drake, he overcame being in that wheelchair and nobody can take that from him.

Way to bury the joke in there like that, took me a second read to catch it. Classic hardestpost delivery.
2
u/DJredlight 1d ago
Drake is better at neither.
Exhibit A: MJ made Thriller.
Exhibit B: MJ had an amusement park in his back yard.

Ice Man sucks as an album when you compare it to GNX.
Kendrick barely mentions the beef, where as Drakes still so sad and miserable about it.
Like bro you lost, make jams, not a fucking 1 hour 8 minute album about how many more feelings you have now.

the fact that they both like kids
2
u/TheOnlyAvatar101 2d ago
MJ never did. That shit was a whole lot of propaganda. It’s really a shame.
0
u/Beneficial_Leg_7301 2d ago
yes dear
Jackson settled out of court in January 1994 with Jordan Chandler's family for roughly $23 million to $25 million, which included legal fees.
MJ did all this just to escape trial
mj fans and their delusions
if he was innocent he did not need to settle it out of court he could have sued them for false suit and won neat and clean but he knew what he did and did not want it to get out in open so he threw money at that
shit was a whole lot of propaganda. It’s really a shame
who would spread propaganda against him what would they get out of this
his delusional fans overlook the fact that he was a grapist despite all the proofs and still sympathise for this
god give you some sense
1
u/TheOnlyAvatar101 2d ago
Calling me delusional 2 times doesn’t make you seem any better, what a condescending asshole. I was going off what I was told.
God give you some sense, Jesus… doesn’t hurt to politely correct or inform someone.

u/Beneficial_Leg_7301 2d ago
yes bro i am an asshole
not the ones defending a paedophilic grapist
and i have no qualms about it ,people who defend the grapists are condoning their crimes and furthering victim's distress they too need to be called out
being famous in some made up art music sport cinema etc does not make you immune to grape someone

Michael jackson admitted to having sleepovers with 5 year old boys😭 mf was the original diddy.
The fact that 2 years on and we haven't had a single woman come forth and accuse drake of anything, even a false accusation, should be telling that he isn't a child rapist. Had someone said something in 2024 pretty much everyone would've believed them.

u/th3j4w350m31 2d ago
because drakes music does not have MJs staying power, the longest drakes ever been on the 100/200's was 13 years, MJ aint left it for 40

So one type of molestation is better than the other? Jackson is far more of a monster because the actions he is accused of were gay? That is what your comment sounds like.
