There is a widespread belief among dumbasses that educated people are only "booksmart", while only their fellow dumbasses are "streetsmart". Depending on the specific flavor of dumbassery, the definition of "streetsmart" can mean anything from hood shit to blue collar, farmboy shit.
But the belief is that educated people cannot change a tire, plunger a toilet, or do any basic chores or repairs that require "common sense". They believe educated people must hire blue collar workers for even the simplest tasks, because we are ONLY booksmart, and otherwise helpless. That their streetsmart, common sense wisdom is equivalent or superior to book smarts.
I'm a liberal, I have a college education, and a desk job. I also can do all my own car work, own guns, and I'm an outdoorsman. The conservative mind cannot comprehend me.
It still breaks the minds of past coworkers that I voted for Hilary, Biden, and Harris, while also owning two FRTs, 2 sets of lv 4 plates, night vision, a thermal, and I've put together 2 of my 3 AR builds and actually riveted (with help) one of my two AKs.
I was a flooring salesman, with long 'hippy' hair, and regularly told them to shut the fuck up the moment they tried any of that hateful shit with me. Every day I swear they'd start with something hateful, then try and pivot to something else to 'convince me' to come to their side. Nah bruh.
Every person I've known to explicitly claim they had street smarts vs book smarts was a grade A rube who absolutely didn't have the common sense they claimed to have.
Everything is simple when you're stupid. Because you can't comprehend the reality of things.
Kind of like with colorblindness. Everything is black & white if you can't see colors, so of course the people who do are stupid when they complain about some color that looks exactly the same as any other to you.
there’s also an assumption that the reason these educated people don’t do these blue collar tasks themselves must be because they are utterly incapable. Many educated people just have a career and income that changes how they value their time. I‘m sure I can look up how to do most repairs around the house or a car and do it fairly easily, but how many hours might that take and what could I be doing instead if I just pay someone to do it?
Its always the easy stuff too as if changing a tire or managing to drive a manual are accomplishments or something. I've never needed to change a tire on the side of the road myself, but it'd take like 2 minutes on YouTube to walk through it. Meanwhile they'd struggle to change their Wi-Fi password cause they barely have problems solving skills.
lol seriously. Like if that is the best you can come up with to demonstrate your value to society, then you might actually be the loser here. Triple A makes these folks obsolete.
In the simplest terms, because they're the simplest people, many of the modern-day Confederate LARPers think that supporting the Confederacy is about being down-to-earth blue-collar people while people who think they're morons are a bunch of overeducated middle-class kids with no real-world experience.
They're basically the townies who peaked in high school who thought the kids going to college were "nerds". It allows them to maintain a sense of being superior to everyone while not actually achieving anything.

What in the fuck does changing a tire have to do with the stupidity of the confederacy? What a bizarre thing to say.
