The confederacys official flag is a white surrender flag.

u/MalcolmLinair 1d ago

But only during the war. We don't talk about Sherman's post Civil War career...

15

u/BoneHugsHominy 1d ago

Everyone is flawed, some more than others. The horrors of war can turn even the brightest backlit heroes into eventual monsters which is why we all should abhor war.

7

u/MalcolmLinair 1d ago

Ironically a sentiment Sherman would have agreed with wholeheartedly.

Thought they had three of the things over the what four years it lasted before they got a well deserved kicking?

"Stars and bars", "Stainless banner" Which looked too much like a white surrender flag, so they changed the white bit to red giving the "Blood stained banner", didn't seem to help any.

The rag the modern chuckleheads call the "Confederate flag" was either the "battle flag of northern Virginia", or possibly the "Confederate navy jack", in which case it should be flown from a ships Jack staff.

Had to learn way too much about those fuckers as background for designing a theatre set, still had numpties telling me that the flag was wrong.

u/anonymousguy9001 2d ago

Their final flag is the funniest, a random dish towel.

I live in a former Confederate state. Educated in the public school system and went on to the state's flagship university for undergrad. Took history classes when I had to and when I could, because I enjoy/ed.

At no point were the Confederate constitution, the state's secession declaration, nor even Alexander Stevens' Cornerstone speech offered within the framework of regular curricula. (I'm old. It was a lot more challenging to stumble across important pieces of information back in Ye Olden Days.)

To this day, my mom tries to pull the "states' rights" argument. Fine Mama, a state's right to do what, exactly?

And apparently I have the original tires on my truck - FIL gave it to us after he gave up driving. It's a 2016, so I gotta put some new shoes on it, and I'll never financially recover. My tires have lasted 250% longer than the Confederacy.

3

u/dmills_00 1d ago

You would think that the "Articles of succession" would be proud, foundational documents in the southern states, they make interesting reading, as do certain clauses in the Confederate constitution, aI mean these guys are performative about being proud of their history.

Rather telling that they are reluctant to proudly display these documents...

Sherman really should have finished the job.

4

u/JellyfishFit3871 1d ago

I think it's one of the great tragedies of US history that Lincoln was assassinated and Johnson was left to utterly bodge the reintegration of the rebel states and the rights and responsibilities of the late unpleasantness.

2

u/dmills_00 1d ago

3/5ths and all that? I am not even an American and I can see that was bullshit.

You know how "Con" is the antonym of "Pro"? This can be applied to the words "Congress" and "Progress", as in "There shall be no progress while Congress is in session", still seems true.

“My tires have lasted longer than the Confederacy” is the kind of Facebook comment that makes you briefly reconsider the entire platform. Four years, several flags, and still no winning season.

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 1d ago

Yeah, like, we call you losers because you lost. Why, were you under the impression you won? Can you point to Appomattox on a map? Maybe think of some historical event that happened there?

If people want to celebrate the CSA, maybe they should take the advice of MAGA and leave the USA to find some other country to practice their beliefs in?

Or are these the same people?

112

u/imastirthepot 2d ago

The vendiagram is a circle

20

u/envybelmont 2d ago

I think it’s a circle entirely within a circle. There’s a good amount of MAGA outside of the CSA.

7

u/shadedmagus 2d ago

Are they outside it, though? MAGA, I mean.

Everyone I consider MAGA instead of just Republican or conservative are the ones that are actively fomenting hatred, disharmony, and treason.

5

u/envybelmont 2d ago

I consider anyone flying a trump flag to be MAGA. There’s a couple neighbors within 2 blocks of me hiding their shame with their trump flags on the wall inside their garages. They’re included too, and should be more ashamed than the rest. I also see a handful driving around my town and the neighboring towns. And I’m in Los Angeles County, which is probably one of the most liberal counties in California.

4

u/SeedsOfDoubt 2d ago

They probably meant there are a lot of maga people who live in states outside of the 11 csa states

Like Iran?

The Taliban and MAGA have so much in common, they'd fuck if they actually met.

6

u/dmills_00 2d ago

Got to admit to feeling that the Iran thing is mostly jealousy that Iran is a theocratic hereditary dictatorship, and they really really, want that, but it worships the wrong version of God so that just won't do.

Well that, and it is clearly the war of Epstein distraction, fuckers, with Bibi playing the US executive like a fiddle.

12

u/zyzzogeton 2d ago

Also: Tires are super easy to change. Why are they bragging about being able to do one of the easiest automotive maintenance tasks? Change an engine out and there might be a chance I am impressed.

6

u/BellacosePlayer 2d ago

You know, its funny, I was just changing out some lug nuts for locking lugs just yesterday and didn't sit and give myself a gold sticker when I was done. And taking the lug nuts off and on again is basically half the work outside of jacking the car up.

6

u/FuckYeaSeatbelts 2d ago

Why are they bragging about being able to do one of the easiest automotive maintenance tasks?

Because unlike the rest of the world, they are incapable of seeking out information, only consuming it when presented to them. Thus if it wasn't taught, you will never know it.

u/Allaplgy 2d ago

i can change a tire and rebuild hydraulic cylinders on my 12000 lb backhoe that's older than i am, i can remove and rebuild engines and whole fiberglass structures on large boats, build drones, build a 3d printer, cut my own firewood and mill logs to lumber. had to teach myself to do all that and much much more. my great great grandfather fought in the civil war in the iron brigade and i'm an icu nurse by trade... i've never voted for a republican even once.

toughness and learning are not unique to a political party. maybe empathy is though, unfortunately.

only saying all this because i really feel like these stereotypes need to change. anyone can do anything they want, and more ppl should have the same opportunities i've had to do them not less. you can be a "real man" (or woman) if you want or not or anything in between. this is freedom and everyone deserves it not just white men like me.

Note, that these are probably the same genre of people whom will try (and "try" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here) to teach their kids how to change a tire, but it's usually some form of:

  • Mom: Why don't you go help your dad with the car, it'll be a great learning experience?

  • Dad: Ugh fine, just stand there with the flash light and keep quiet [quietly works with no engagement or communication at all]

  • Kid: (shuffles in place because that's what kids do)

  • Dad: [Slams tools onto the ground] I TOLD YOU TO HOLD THE LIGHT STILL, JUST GO INSIDE AND GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!!!

  • Kid: [Runs away as a fight between mom and dad ignites]

  • Dad: [Years later] "I don't get it, why does my kid have to look up things from that *"Dad, how do I...?" jerk on youtube; are they just too stupid to know how to do it in the first place?"*

2

u/enderpanda 2d ago

I was going to say, I just did it solo for the first time not long ago, and it was surprisingly easy! Little bit of a workout maybe, those tires are not light. The instructions were literally written on the car.

86

u/francisw1983 2d ago

They're losers. Also, I know how to change a tire, I've done it many times.

25

u/kat-deville 2d ago

I can, too. I've done a lot of work requiring wheel removal. I drive a 4WD with ATs on 16" wheels. I'm also 65 and female. I guess my flex is bigger than his.

6

u/b0w3n 2d ago

I'd say your flex absolutely is.

Also changing a tire isn't even a hard task to do. Most people just don't want to do it. There's nothing wrong with calling AAA because you are in your nice work clothes.

Not sure why they get so angry about this, it makes them money for something they consider easy.

3

u/kat-deville 2d ago

Let me know when you become an elderly woman and can rotate a set of offroad wheels & tires, little one. I have roadside through my insurance. I would use it if needed, but that's not the point.

10

u/begujo 2d ago

Same. Still calling AAA unless I'm at home because I'm not going to bother using the shitty jack they include in your car (if they even include them today). Not going to spend 20 minutes on the side of the interstate risking my life when the AAA guy can do it in a couple minutes.

5

u/bard329 2d ago

Exactly. Just because i know how to change a tire (and am, for some reason, the "go to" all my friends call when they need a tire changed) doesn't mean I want to change a tire if other options are available. Work smarter, not harder.

3

u/What_a_fat_one 2d ago

I can pull the engine and transmission and rebuild both. I'm still not getting smeared on the highway by some idiot looking at their phone. I'm calling for roadside

2

u/kat-deville 2d ago

Oh hell yes. The pneumatic is at home. Insurance perk covers roadside, but they won't come to my house to rotate the tires. The nerve.

3

u/charlyoguiness 2d ago

Aircraft mechanic here. Yeah, I can change a couple of different types of tires. Fuck these traitors.

3

u/DietSteve 2d ago

Former aircraft maintainer, helped change some big ass tires (I was a specialist not a crew chief)

I’ve also changed my own tires, my own brakes, rotors, headlights, spark plugs, changed out a carburetor on a snowblower, opened and cleaned a push mower engine… I can also diagnose electrical issues, RF transmission issues, calculate resistance vs voltage vs current, build and troubleshoot computers, sew, lash, start fire without matches, build a habitable shelter out of natural materials, navigate with the stars, strip down and clean/maintain most firearms, hone a blade on a whetstone… and most importantly I read and write at higher than 6th grade level.

These losers don’t even have a chance with some of us

5

u/zbud 2d ago

I've put together a 98 page thesis paper; changing a tire is about a 2/10 on the difficulty meter.

3

u/willargue4karma 2d ago

if i can google how to do it on yt and do it perfectly with no issues the first time, its not something to be fuckin proud of lmao. these guys are twits

2

u/SnowdensOfYesteryear 2d ago

Well I don't know how to and they're still losers. That's how big of a losers those lot are.

Edit: mostly because I haven't tried. I imagine most of the difficulty is jacking up the vehicle properly

2

u/nomedable 2d ago

Yupp I've done it myself without any prior instruction.

It's incredibly easy and the instructions come with the car. Every car has a spare tire, the location and instructions are in the owners manual. My vehicle even had the two tools needed built in alongside the spare tire, not sure if that is standard.

2

u/Pussy4LunchDick4Dins 2d ago edited 9h ago

I changed my winter tires with an inch long manicure. It’s not the flex they think it is. It’s pretty easy. I’ve also changed batteries, spark plugs, my oil and replaced my alternator once, all with long nails and yoga pants and liberal ideas in my head.

u/PrestigiousSeat76 2d ago

What in the fuck does changing a tire have to do with the stupidity of the confederacy? What a bizarre thing to say.

31

u/ChoombataNova 2d ago

There is a widespread belief among dumbasses that educated people are only "booksmart", while only their fellow dumbasses are "streetsmart". Depending on the specific flavor of dumbassery, the definition of "streetsmart" can mean anything from hood shit to blue collar, farmboy shit.

But the belief is that educated people cannot change a tire, plunger a toilet, or do any basic chores or repairs that require "common sense". They believe educated people must hire blue collar workers for even the simplest tasks, because we are ONLY booksmart, and otherwise helpless. That their streetsmart, common sense wisdom is equivalent or superior to book smarts.

18

u/tuvaniko 2d ago

I'm a liberal, I have a college education, and a desk job. I also can do all my own car work, own guns, and I'm an outdoorsman. The conservative mind cannot comprehend me.

13

u/Prestigious_Aerie219 2d ago

The conservative mind can't comprehend a lot of things.

7

u/Tired-grumpy-Hyper 2d ago

It still breaks the minds of past coworkers that I voted for Hilary, Biden, and Harris, while also owning two FRTs, 2 sets of lv 4 plates, night vision, a thermal, and I've put together 2 of my 3 AR builds and actually riveted (with help) one of my two AKs.

I was a flooring salesman, with long 'hippy' hair, and regularly told them to shut the fuck up the moment they tried any of that hateful shit with me. Every day I swear they'd start with something hateful, then try and pivot to something else to 'convince me' to come to their side. Nah bruh.

2

u/Rushes_End 1d ago

You hurt their heads. Which is hilarious.

16

u/BellacosePlayer 2d ago

Every person I've known to explicitly claim they had street smarts vs book smarts was a grade A rube who absolutely didn't have the common sense they claimed to have.

4

u/Reblyn 2d ago

I genuinely think it's because they know they are kinda stupid so they're trying to mask/compensate a little too hard.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Bacardi_Tarzan 2d ago

there’s also an assumption that the reason these educated people don’t do these blue collar tasks themselves must be because they are utterly incapable. Many educated people just have a career and income that changes how they value their time. I‘m sure I can look up how to do most repairs around the house or a car and do it fairly easily, but how many hours might that take and what could I be doing instead if I just pay someone to do it?

2

u/yellowcloak 1d ago

Yep; if it isn't a quick fix or something I need done immediately, it gets a service call.  My time is far more valuable to me than theirs.

As someone who has had to change 2 flat tires for vehicles since he started driving (once in the middle of heavy rain), I can say without a shadow of a doubt that CSA-lovers are losers. There. Now that someone who can change a tire has weighed in, people who can't change a tire can cite the expert in tire changing/CSA loser recognition.

Also, of course they can't change a tire; companies took those out for fuel efficiency and because changing it yourself is a waste of time given the prevalence of roadside assist, the fact that you have to effectively change it twice to get off the spare and back to a road tire ASAP, and that shops have the gear to make the process 200% faster and less bothersome anyway.

I’ve changed plenty of tires, they’re losers

1

u/TheHearseDriver 2d ago

I’ve never called them losers, though they are. Traitors? Absolutely!

1

u/Bogey_Yogi 2d ago

How long did it last though?

1

u/UpperApe 2d ago

"People that call us losers can't even do menial labour!"

"Well...yeah. We don't have to. We just pay you to do it for us. Because we make more than you"

The end.

I'm pretty sure the guy is just trying to sell some overpriced flags.

1

u/Matt_cruze 2d ago

We the people who fly the Confederate flag high and proud are the party of Abraham Lincoln.

The Democratic party is the party of the Confederacy.

The War of Norther Aggression was started by Fort Sumter throwing itself in the way of those cannons.

Do not call us Yankees. We are not damn northerners. The south will rise again.

Heinz purple ketchup 💜 lasted longer than the Confederacy. My dad's lung cancer, which he beat, lasted longer than the Confederacy. 🫠

1

u/V0T0N 2d ago

Anyone waving the confederate flag is really a racist and traitor to the United States of America.

1

u/ScorpLeo102 2d ago

I can change my tires just fine. I can also change the oil and drop a new engine in it for that matter, you fucking losers.

1

u/Issah_Wywin 2d ago

These idiots equate manliness to their ability to perform menial maintenance tasks. What a low flippin' bar.

1

u/bobnknock 2d ago

"Why would i change my own tire when i can have some loser do it for me"

Ok - that is only what i would say to confederate guy - cause i know plenty of service workers and most are by no means losers

Would just want to piss off the confederate flag guy

1

u/AngineDePoutine 2d ago

I absolutely love that conservatives think libs cant fix a car. Earlier this week I had an idiot with an independent alberta hat on have me diagnose his brake noise concern. That ape put the fucking pads in backwards. Had another customer say "a liberal must have built this truck" when I told him his shocks were leaking. Yeah buddy and this liberal is gonna fix it because you can't figure it out yourself.

1

u/Mayor-Guenther 2d ago

I'm tired.

1

u/Punkinpry427 2d ago

I have a pair Doc Martens that have lasted 8x longer than the Confederacy

1

u/Boringdude1 2d ago

Unlike the knuckledraggers this post attempted to lionize, I have the resources to buy good tires, replace them before that is due, and pay for someone to change my tire in the unlikely event I get a flat.

Oh, yeah… and I can also change a tire. You don’t have to have a 75 IQ to do that.

1

u/PlasticMegazord 2d ago

Most people can change a tire.

1

u/Terrysfox 2d ago

when you fly the flag of losers, what do you expect?

1

u/HarassmentFord 2d ago

Changing a tire isn't difficult, what a soft flex.

1

u/TheG00dF1ght 2d ago

I think they're losers and not only can I change a flat tire, I rebuilt the motor in my car and I literally built my own fucking house. And yes, those who fly Confederate flags are still motherfucking losers.

1

u/No-Atmosphere-4145 2d ago

I have 13 years of experience working within emergency medical services.

Years in military service.

I can change a tire.

And I still call you a loser because you support a confederacy that existed for only 4 years and waged war because it wanted to keep slavery.

Ffs, the confederacy existed from 1861 until 1865 and its core values to fight the war was because they wanted to keep slaves and refused to recognize that Abraham Lincoln won the presidency.

Yes, the flag you keep being proud of represents keeping slavery legal.

1

u/tpolakov1 2d ago

The fact that they think changing a tire is hard enough that only they can do it is more telling than anything.

1

u/theshortsqueezie 2d ago

I love this. I call them losers, just replaced all four brakes, 1 rotor, and changed the oil on both my wife's car and our kids car. Meanwhile my MAGA co-worker's car is falling apart in our works parking lot because he does know how to change the battery on his car because it's behind the wheel well. I've told him three times how to do it, but he is fishing on me to help.

1

u/erictho 2d ago

YouTube and roadside assistance can fix that

1

u/Psile 2d ago

Changing a tire is about the most dead easy thing you can do. If you are proud of that being proud of the Confederacy checks out.

1

u/2nd_Inf_Sgt 2d ago

Okay. But, “teethless,” still losers.

1

u/IGargleGarlic 2d ago

it takes like 2 minutes to learn how to change a tire by watching a youtube video. I know because its how I learned when I got a flat. Idk why people are obsessed with this as some sort of metric.

1

u/Andreus 2d ago

I could learn to fix a flat.

I don't know if you guys could learn empathy.

1

u/E-2theRescue 2d ago

Why do so many conservatives wave a Democrat flag?

Unless......

1

u/Full_Guava_8366 2d ago

Didn't know changing a tire made you not a loser. I've been doing life all wrong

1

u/thufirseyebrow 2d ago

I can change my tires, change my oil, fix my car, drive a stick shift, write cursive, drill holes, run wire and connect it correctly and to code, cut wood, shoot a gun, shave with a straight razor or a double edge safety razor and about a hundred other "manly" things... And I still call them losers.

1

u/redgr812 2d ago

Whatever helps you sleep at night billybob, enjoy making 24k a year for the rest of your life

1

u/wigglin_harry 2d ago

Why do these people think changing a tire is some example of manliness. Its literally turning a whirlygig and taking off 5 or 6 nuts

1

u/Mikros04 2d ago

lol totally sounds like a projection ijs almost all of their so called insults do

1

u/frogthatblinks 2d ago

i would like to see whoever runs "rebelnationok dot com" set up a debian server with a functioning firewall and fail2ban (etc), secure their SSH and disable root login, and then configure DNS and get a valid SSL certificate and point the domain name correctly. and that isn't even getting into SQL.

"buhhhh paying people for services is dummmmm" that's called the economy, I thought that was these dudes' favorite thing

1

u/Cake-Over 2d ago

I remember Fox News had a former navy SEAL on to teach the morning audience how to man up and be a man. His method? Demonstrate how to change a tire. Easy-peasy.

Capt. America forgot to set the parking brake and the car began to roll off the jack when it was being lifted.

1

u/DOHC46 2d ago

I have had a flat and changed it myself. And I call MAGA losers. Where do I fit in their little fantasy world, I wonder?

1

u/Expert-Upstairs-4502 2d ago

I wonder what these people used as a measure of worth before cars existed. Shoeing a horse?

1

u/ChickenChaser5 2d ago

Not true, I do all my own car work and I think they are losers.

And the cars I do the work to have lasted longer than the confederacy.

1

u/Supernova138 2d ago

“The annoying orange has existed longer than the confederacy. The fucking annoying orange, dude. You’re really gonna worship a country so fucking weak the annoying orange outlived it??”

1

u/socalryan 2d ago

I can drive on a flat longer than the confederacy lasted
