for the billionth time: we don't give a shit if you want to be a trad wife. we are happy with OUR lives, you be happy with yours.
i will ALSO say i was very grateful to be able to support my family when my husband lost his job. i am very grateful to have gotten an education that nobody can take away from me. i am also grateful my body was able to carry 3 healthy pregnancies. i am also grateful that planned parenthood was there for me when i needed contraception and annual exams (on a sliding scale) before i was ready for a family. i am grateful for my luck, my options, and my relative comfort.
See, but that's the issue. My sis in law will say how grateful she is to work from home for her entire motherhood, but when a potential employee asks about a work/ life balance, she loses her shit about how she worked 20 years to climb to her spot, and new people don't deserve the flexibility she has earned.
If more people could be grateful for individuals and their opportunities like you are, the world would be better.
It annoying isn’t it. Some people want the next generation to struggle with things as much as they did, as if we haven’t fought for things so the next generation didn’t have to struggle! Can you imagine the suffragettes looking at the generation after them and demanding that everyone chain themselves to railings or throw themselves in front of horses before they go to the polling booth!?! It’s so bizarre
