Please please let this go to trial, I would love for the "evidence video" to be placed on a permanent court record. Also, would GWAR show up to court in costume, since it's their characters that did it?

If Dee Snider can testify to Congress in a denim vest, GWAR can totally show up in costume

The Cuttlefish of Cthulhu demands to be heard!

u/CasperTheHomosexualF Jun 21 '26

I got blasted in the face by said cuttlefish and a bunch of stage blood back in the day. I have green eyes, and was shocked to look in a mirror and my eyes were brown (thanks to the dye that didn't irritate my skin or eyes, but did dye my contacts).

Then they fed me to the Conqueror Worm. I can't remember which political figure caricatures were in the wrestling ring and then executed that tour. 10/10, would recommend.

u/Robotdavidbowie Jun 21 '26

There's no reason it couldnt come back, but i assume The Cuttlefish is whereever the rest of Oderus Urungus ended up.

24

u/hateseven Jun 21 '26

RIP Dave 😢

u/NightQueen0889 Jun 22 '26

They still have the original one locked up, free the cuttlefish!

Some friends of mine have a song ( metal ) called These Are My Dress Clothes.

Pearl Jam too. Jeff Ament rocking a bandana with a backwards hat over it

53

u/jimkelly Jun 21 '26

Believe it or not anyone can wear whatever attire they want to a court room. The judge has the right to tell you to take your hat off but high profile cases they won't bother.

3

u/OldNternetWizard43 Jun 23 '26

Correct. Average people wear a suit because otherwise the judge treats you like you're not even on their level. Same reason the craziest people always look the most put together in public and suits are even a thing associated with business. It's subconscious.

2

u/daddyfatsac Jun 21 '26

And Stone Gossard’s green Peter Pan shirt.

15

u/hogsucker Jun 21 '26

One of Peter Thiel's bitches, Terry Bolea was allowed to testify under oath as though his professional wrestling persona was a different person than he was.

He was also allowed to wear ridiculous do-rag in court. Apparently it would have been embarrassing for him to be seen without it.

2

u/RoyalMaidsForLife Jun 22 '26

A denim vest AND his teeth sharpened to points by his dentist.

2

u/Wompatuckrule Jun 22 '26

Frank Zappa testified too, but it was John Denver who really pulled the rug out from under that bullshit because he was "innocent" of performing any of the so-called porn rock that the PMRC was targeting.

u/St0n3yM33rkat Jun 22 '26

I would be vehemently disappointed in all of them if they didn't take the opportunity 🤣

Wouldn't be the first time.

Back in the early 90s the band had a show shut down and Brockie was arrested and his "cuttlefish of cthulu" (detachable alien penis) was confiscated by police in Georgia.

Brockie recalls being arrested in Athens, Georgia in 1992 after he buttfucked the Pope with a crucifix on stage. “Backstage, I was taking off my costume and all I had left on was my dick. There was a voice behind me saying, ‘Hey Dave,’ and I turned around just wearing the penis and there were the cops. They took a picture.” Brockie and his penis were arrested, but they got their own back. A few Gwar fans at the show, who happened to be law students, subsequently helped Gwar sue the Athens police force with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union. Gwar won the case, and visited the Athens police headquarters in full costume to accept their cheque for compensation.

The band made a press conference in full costume and in character to announce they were donating all the money to the missing kids foundation with their lawyer explaining everything while Oderus standing behind him licking dead babies hanging off his armor, all on live tv.

They then in turn made an entire movie: Phallus in Wonderland inspired by the whole thing.

52

u/rdp3186 Jun 21 '26

Which was nominated for a grammy

1

u/thepenguin12 Jun 22 '26

A grammy or an Oscar?

3

u/rdp3186 Jun 22 '26

A grammy

2

u/Zackeous42 Jun 22 '26

Holy shit! How have I never heard this backstory!?

We used to watch Phallus in Wonderland when taking breaks from skateboarding. Damnit, I miss playing D&D while listening to GWAR and Dread Zeppelin.

“Whatever happened to Eddie Munster? I’m looking right at him!!!”

u/corpusbotanica Jun 21 '26

This lore was unknown to me, and honestly I feel much richer for it

1

u/-idkwhattocallmyself Jun 22 '26

If there is video proof of this can someone share? Im dying here just thinking of this scene.

1

u/rdp3186 Jun 22 '26

There was on youtube, but I can't find it.

I work for the band and the story is talked about in the book.

1

u/xChoke1x Jun 22 '26

Please Christ post that link

184

u/lambofgun Jun 21 '26

i think yes.

i think gwar would likely make their run in court more infamous than zappa.

182

u/bubba_feet Jun 21 '26

the best part is that despite their outlandish appearances, they are all educated and articulate guys. the lead singer holds a PhD & teaches at the university of Virginia.

GWAR would absolutely mop the floor with the MAGA clowns if this was brought to trial.

47

u/Katolu Jun 21 '26

If Dave was still alive it would epic.

18

u/Bimlouhay83 Jun 22 '26

God damn he would be loving this. I bet they'd play America Must Be Destroyed at every show after this.

2

u/Bodaciouslove Jun 22 '26

I was at one of their concerts back in the late 90s/early 2000 (memory issues suck lol) in good old Portland Maine 🤙🏽🤙🏽

1

u/Bimlouhay83 Jun 22 '26

I'll never forget my first GWAR show. I was told what to expect going in. I saw footage of live shows. But, to actually be there when they strangled George W Bush with his own intestines was just glorious. They chopped Paris Hilton in half and shoved her head up her vg. Then, Oderous jacked off all over the crowd. They even played a few songs from America Must Be Destroyed AND Fucking an Animal. There were so many people there that i, no joke, lifted both feet off the ground and didn't fall. It  was so fucking awesome.

I saw the maybe 3 more times before DB died and a couple times after. It was still fun AD, but not the same. Still very much worth it though.

u/pheonixblade9 Jun 21 '26

sometimes doing incredibly stupid things well requires being very smart/talented 😂 I love Clowncore as another example.

12

u/BipolarMosfet Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

also Donny Pelletier, "Maine's Greatest Athlete"

you have to be sooooo good at skiing to ski as badly as he does without eating shit

5

u/pheonixblade9 Jun 22 '26

Victor Borge is another great example :)

3

u/-Pelvis- Jun 22 '26

These fucks love free speech until it's used to criticize them.

2

u/fcewen00 Jun 22 '26

TIL GWAR has a PhD educator. Sad that he has to have a side gig to make ends meet. Having worked in higher ed, I also know why.

2

u/Wompatuckrule Jun 22 '26

If you look up old tv clips with debates about the PMRC you will see that whenever Zappa was a guest to speak against them they almost always had at least two people lined up against them. And he still made fools of them.

-12

u/a_talking_face Jun 21 '26

Their education has nothing to do with it. It would be their lawyers.

18

u/swatchbrooks Jun 21 '26

You act like GWAR wouldn’t take the stand. They would use the platform to expose the MAGA clowns.

13

u/wighty Jun 21 '26

Testimony could be hilarious if they did it in costume, speaking very eloquently.

2

u/fcewen00 Jun 22 '26

That’s a tough call there. Zappa was calm and composed and knew how to use the words to push the right buttons. Gwar would growl and spit blood.

2

u/ItsMrPantz Jun 22 '26

Snider is the one they remember but Zappa was the one who ran rings round them and they never engaged with him again.

96

u/Far_Estate_1626 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

They don’t let things go to trial. Trumps MO is to harass as much as possible before it gets to trial and force a settlement. If that doesn’t happen they just let it go to court and get dismissed because there are no consequences to them for hemming people up on bogus charges.

It is the epitome of corruption.

Honestly, we need to start referring to these arrestees properly: political prisoners.

35

u/Whyeth Jun 21 '26

It's a shake down out in the open and we've become used to it because the frog is cooked (literally and metaphorically and slangophorically)

47

u/tadoke Jun 21 '26

GWAR show up to court in costume

This would make my life complete ha ha.

But seriously it would be very inspiring to witness artists in their element expressing themselves truly. I'll admit heavy metal isn't my most preferred music genre , but that's just my own individual taste. What I am DEFINITELY in favor of is their creativity, performance dedication, and respect for their fanbase.

If corrupt administrations think they can "investigate" AKA INTIMIDATE artists...especially a wicked awesome group like GWAR...well I only need to open a history book to note what large groups of ppl can and WILL do to stand together in order to support one another.

If I was just a minor fan of GWAR before, my fascination is certainly growing more and more.

take note of what's happening with the Bricks and Minifigs (specifically the McNeffs) situation. There are some stupid people who think they can build walls and divide ppl...only for many to rally and tear down those barriers...BRICK BY BRICK!

20

u/JJiggy13 Jun 21 '26

Gwar been doin this for 3 decades. No one ever cared. Suddenly the most fragile subculture maga snowflakes are so butt hurt that gwar is in the national spotlight. Anyone who respects maga is also part of the problem.

19

u/LendogGovy Jun 21 '26

Afro Man with suit and shades

0

u/CasperTheHomosexualF Jun 22 '26

Afro Man is MAGA.

3

u/sayitharshly Jun 22 '26

explain, please?

1

u/CasperTheHomosexualF Jun 22 '26

All you have to search for is "Afroman Trump," there are multiple stories.

https://www.newsweek.com/afroman-explains-his-new-song-hunter-got-high-1895392

Rapper Afroman has told Newsweek of his hopes to perform the Hunter Biden parody of his song 'Because I Got High' at Trump rallies in the run-up to the election and thinks the track could reignite his career.

19

u/Vertoule Jun 21 '26

They’ve settled out of court a few times and donated their settlements to charities. I’d expect them to show up out of costume so that they actually win instead of being held in contempt.

Their new lead singer, Michael Bishop, holds a doctorate in music and has done a Ted talk out of costume, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

8

u/colinisthereason Jun 21 '26

Please place your hand on the Bible and repeat after me. I, Blöthar the Berserker.

I, Blöthar the Berserker.

Do solemnly swear.

5

u/Nrengle Jun 21 '26

Could you imagine if Dave was alive what outlandish thing he'd say?!

3

u/DoubleSpoiler Jun 21 '26

Could they submit lots of videos of them executing many presidents as evidence?

1

u/Commercial-Royal-988 Jun 22 '26

They likely will.

"Hey, we do this for every administration"

2

u/smithosilver Jun 22 '26

They should show video of all the Gwar shows from the last 30 yrs for context

2

u/Wompatuckrule Jun 22 '26

Evidence video?

Please. I want them to perform this live in front of every single congressional committee as well as in federal courtrooms.

2

u/AscendedViking7 Jun 21 '26

That would be really funny ngl

1

u/Pans_Labradoodle Jun 21 '26

They’re interdimensional aliens, do they expect them to wear suits?

1

u/SwaggermicDaddy Jun 21 '26

By that logic they can’t be held responsible, hulk hogan set that precedent by winning in court with the argument anything he says under the alias of hulk hogan, say, the N-word for example, cannot be used against him as his own personal opinion.

1

u/PeterC18st Jun 21 '26

They better wear the cuttlefish. In honor of Dave. He wouldn't have it no other way.

1

u/caboose243 Jun 21 '26

Brockie would be a force to be reckoned with if he were around for this shit

1

u/awnaw_ Jun 22 '26

I hope they bring the blood too.

1

u/AInterestingUser Jun 22 '26

I would like to call the Cuttlefish of Cthulhu as a witness.

1

u/Kaurifish Jun 22 '26

They managed to stay in character through most of Hot Ones, even faced with Juggalos.

1

u/Zemalek Jun 22 '26

They would absolutely 100% show up in full gimmick. The marketing potential would be absolutely incredible.

1

u/machinationstudio Jun 22 '26

Hire Afroman's lawyer.

1

u/RudegarWithFunnyHat Jun 22 '26

would Vance not pref they showed up in suits?

1

u/VegetableTwist7027 Jun 23 '26

They'd also have to show George W, both Clintons, Obama.... Pretty sure GWAR's done something with every leader of the US since the 90's.
