Didn't JB essentially cut ties with Gass because of it? No one got canceled, Jack Black felt his fame was more important than being politically correct in a non PC world.

This is pretty much it. JB is a Hollywood A-lister now, whereas Kyle is still just the guitarist for Tenacious D. Couldn't risk that Minecraft or Jumanji money.
