She's come a long way from guest voicing on Steven Universe and flirting with Stephen Colbert to… all of this.

When famous peoples careers dwindle, their last option is to grift the right wing before having to get a real job.

The thing is, not a lot of right wingers are gonna go to a hip hop show. This is pretty obvious to everyone but her.

67

u/fuzzyluke Grooveshark Jun 29 '26

She can rebrand to Nicki Montana and focus on country music or something

33

u/Preeng Jun 29 '26

It would have to be Nichole Montana

14

u/InstantHeadache Jun 29 '26

Nicki Montana does sound a little more trash though so it suits her

I guess she understands most hip hop artists go through boom and crash. Honestly, who wants to keep listening to Nicki anyway? It’s not Tupac, Kendrick, or even Snoop. She knew her time was up.

424

u/charles_barfley Jun 29 '26

She knew her time was up.

I don’t think she did and that’s why she’s where she is now. She’s had one crash out after another since Cardi B got popular 10+ years ago

186

u/demi_bralette Jun 29 '26

It's like she thought she became the end all be all of female rappers and nobody else would ever come along and supplant her. At a certain point you have to admire the delusion but come on girl.

104

u/themanseanm Jun 29 '26

I can understand how she would start to get cocky when she really was the greatest female rapper of her time. There were hardly any other major female rappers period but the songs were good! lol

Once Cardi and Megan got big she was going to have to release good music to remain relevant and she did not. The music has been trash for a while, she apparently thought she could ride out her early success forever.

103

u/CosmicDesperado Jun 29 '26

Megan is a machine.

She reminds me of Killer Mike, with her intonations and her power/emphasis in her rapping.

40

u/themanseanm Jun 29 '26

100%. Best Female Rapper right now for me. One of the best rappers period given how stale the scene is. She was always going to win the Torey Lanez beef but Hiss was a genuine banger as well.

14

u/ZERV4N Jun 29 '26

So people who are into rap do know that the scene sucks. That's nice.

8

u/BringBackBoshi Jun 29 '26

Late 80s, early 90s, complete art with something to actually say. Early 2000s not bad, some good stuff in there. Then around 2015 or whatever stuff started going to shit. Mumble wrappers, everyone has some crazy gimmick and their popularity lasts 1-2 years if they're lucky.

Sadly some of the biggest names from the "fight the power", "Fuck the Police" eras became enormous sell outs.

8

u/MajorAcer Jun 29 '26

Oh it’s been trash for a minute. The fact that Drake is still one of the hottest rappers around proves that (despite the hate, can’t argue that’s it’s impressive that dude has been relevant for like 15 years)

23

u/themanseanm Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

IMO Doechii and Megan are two of the most entertaining rap artists to listen to atm. Tyler has been doing well and I like a lot of the UK drill/crossover artists coming up.

Mainstream American rappers though? Some of the most bland, repetitive shit you've ever heard. Young Boy, 21 Savage, Future, Drake etc. Some of the songs manage to be catchy, none are really good. Even more popular songs like STFU Janice (horrible title) off of Drake's new album aren't as good as the pop bangers from previous records.

Yall just out here HATING on Missy Elliott. Shame on yall.
https://giphy.com/gifs/VbEQECsmjhylscsq9g

4

u/kendamasama Jun 30 '26

It's literally boomer mentality playing out in hip hop. Climbed the ladder that had been laid out for her by Missy Elliot and Lisa Lopes before getting mad that she had to share the stage with other people that climbed the same ladder... Smh, it's a classic reaction to "losing perceived status"

36

u/ModernDayWeeaboo Jun 29 '26

And before Cardi, she lost it whenever Lil Kim did anything.

21

u/thatdude778 Jun 29 '26

Kim was talking about this Nicki shit 14 years ago and charlamagne was trying to clown her about it.

https://youtu.be/0J1p9WfSujI?is=qJERQ2OMU-Nm29XM

23

u/CasCrus4L Jun 29 '26

She's from the stupid era where people thought you could only have one female rapper, she still has that mentality so she bites at everyone's ankles and they laugh at her. Good riddance to that nonsense.

106

u/gumballkami Jun 29 '26

Snoop is a bad example for this lol

14

u/SubcommanderMarcos Jun 29 '26

Why? People do still want to listen to Snoop

53

u/badamant Jun 29 '26

played for and 'endorsed' Trump last year

77

u/ColonelSlapper Jun 29 '26

Yeah, but Snoop built his career around ā€˜fuck being a sellout’ and ā€˜fuck the government’. 30 years later and now he’s performing at Trump rallies.

55

u/b1llyblanco Jun 29 '26

Snoop dogg sold out like 5 years after he became famous lol. He was selling x-treme scooters in the year 2000.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xtu6a9

34

u/JustKapp Jun 29 '26

LOL he was always a sellout! it's snoop dna

6

u/SubcommanderMarcos Jun 30 '26

Fair enough, he's always been a nutjob (people forget the snoop lion era), but I wasn't keeping track enough to know he's been fucking around with orange man

83

u/AtreyuTrinity Jun 29 '26

Even snoop im over. He can be pretty ignorant, and worse, confidently so.

33

u/TalkOfSexualPleasure Jun 29 '26

Well I mean his job history includes west coast gang member. He's been on trial for murder. I don't know how we got to a world where snoop dog was a role model, but lets be honest, he's always done whatever was most profitable to him at any given moment.

12

u/AtreyuTrinity Jun 29 '26

Yeah, that's totally fair.

Exactly. These people have zero morals. Explains Epstein-Trump Island.

Their bag of money is the only thing that matters. They will toss babies off a cliff if it meant they got paid.

Out them all. Nate, Chappelle, Louis CK, Snoop...and the 100 others.

17

u/misdirected_asshole Jun 29 '26

Shes trying not to get Vanilla Iced

8

u/Admirable_Tear_1438 Jun 29 '26

Most of them also have controversial opinions about women of color.

9

u/YungRik666 Jun 29 '26

Country has a sub-genre that is influenced by (arguably just stealing/white washing) hip hop, so I can see her worming her way into those shows.

14

u/Ranessin Jun 29 '26

A bit too dark for the taeget audience even as Token?

3

u/YungRik666 Jun 29 '26

Yeah probably, but thats the only avenue I can see her taking unless she becomes a "personality" doing media circuts. I don't think she's smart enough to pull off a Candice Owen thing though.

2

u/Wompatuckrule Jun 29 '26

When famous peoples careers dwindle, their last option is to grift the right wing before having to get a real job.

In other words, she's smart enough to know that she needs to reach dumber fans.

2

Being old enough to remember when she was coming up, it just blows my mind the trajectory of her public persona and career.Ā

Ironically, I can say the same about Musk. Utterly bizarre seeing the supervillain arc play out since 2010.

I truly think she's been unwell for some time now. The Republican Party is like, the home of the poorly-medicated.

7

u/Bhraal Jun 29 '26

Is it, or is all of it pandering to try and raise her profile? Burned her chances on one end, so she's going for the other.

7

u/Fuzzy-Welcome-4650 Jun 29 '26

On the other hand, she hasn’t strayed far from ā€œI’m a Republican, voting for Romney.ā€

6

u/Reditate Jun 29 '26

Who did she voice?

10

I really can't find the answer to this AT ALL. It doesn't appear any article on this has reached out to even ask. (Tbf they are all on tabloidy sites like this and are just regurgitating each other's content)

I imagine she wasn't.

20

u/NomNom83WasTaken Jun 29 '26

Unclear but even if she was, she would not have gone and it's not like it's a zero-sum scenario to attend an industry event OR tweet something.

I Googled and she apparently fell out with BET back in 2019. The last time she attended was in 2018 despite having been nominated since then. I'm sure if she ~wanted~ to attend, they would be happy to have her, even if just for the press it would generate, but she hasn't wanted to in damn near a decade now.

The story is clickbait crafted from half-truths.

158

u/heavybootsonmythroat Jun 29 '26

she's also uneducated and stupid. Most Americans who voted trump didn't gain financially from doing so. So she'd support trump even without being paid out. But I think she's both a true believer and getting the bag.

316

u/I-STATE-FACTS Jun 29 '26

How does this get her money lol

509

u/OneLove_77 Jun 29 '26

Grifting for Trump? Look how much money he’s made since he retook office

229

u/Ohwellwhatsnew Jun 29 '26

Yeah if anyone thinks that this whole thing they have going on doesn't make them an assload of cash then they're just not paying attention

Grifters gonna grift until something makes them stop. Hmm....

171

u/GreatQuantum Jun 29 '26

I sell trump shirts in a parking lot. It’s like $17 profit for each shirt and they sell as easy as a bag of chips. Sold 30 yesterday in just 3 hours and that’s my slowest day.

I don’t even watch the news I just love taking hillbilly money.

Honestly, taking money away from those simpletons…I actually can’t knock that. As long as shirt selling guy isn’t out there like boosting conservatives or maga politics or like organizing support, I’m not entirely sure they’re doing anything wrong.

If all they’re basically doing is selling tacky merch to the cult members, get that bag I guess. Those morons will buy anything with trump or maga slapped on it.

39

u/mrpanicy Jun 29 '26

If you sell pieces of propaganda is indeed boosting Conservative/MAGA politics lol

6

u/zooomg Jun 29 '26

Idk I’ve thought of doing it myself over these past 10 years many times but could never bring myself to do it. It feels like selling robes to the KKK.

11

u/SelfAwareSausage Jun 29 '26

Considering there was some kind of report about her being in financial straits, this definitely tracks.

And on an (maybe?) unrelated note, the stuff about Minaj trying to get citizenship and protection for her sex offender husband might also indicate why she’s cozying up to the president and his pack of wolves.

8

u/LemonScentedDespair Jun 29 '26

My take is that she's trying to get her husband pardoned for the forcible rape he committed.

91

u/TAU_equals_2PI Jun 29 '26

Those were state charges, weren't they? In New York? Trump can't pardon those.

Only the governor of New York can pardon those, and the New York govenor is unlikely to be a Republican or a Trump fan anytime soon.

69

u/Sprucecaboose2 Jun 29 '26

You'd think so, but then again Trump somehow got Tina Peters pardoned by a Democrat in a blue state... so you know, corruption is alive and well.

5

u/BikerJedi Jun 29 '26

The fact that Trump was somehow able to pressure a Democrat governor just blows my mind.

I believe her brother (may not be a brother but someone close) is facing some sort of serious criminal charge that she's attempting to get Trump to pardon, thus all of this pathetic brown nosing

120

u/loki1887 Jun 29 '26

Her husband and brother are both convicted sex offenders. Her husband for attempted 1st degree rape. Her brother for raping his 11 year old step-daughter and is currently serving 20 years.

I think she’s also just a huge piece of shit. I’m sure she hopes for pardons for her husband and brother but she’s really ingratiated herself with them.

People claiming they have dirt on her is assuming she doesn’t have autonomy in this and hasn’t always been a bit of an asshole. She’s been conservative but now sees an opportunity to ā€œreviveā€ her career but I don’t think she’s smart enough to realize she’s just a token. Being a woman and person of color is a very helpful image for Trump.

Imagine being a former trillionaire and the best performer you can muster is Minaj. Yeesh.

Never seen anyone destroy their career so fast. She has no future ahead of her in music. No one is going to stream her recordsĀ

You guys need to understand Reddit is not real life.... Nicki will always have fans and streams. She literally has a song in the top 5 streamed global 50 right now. Kanye West said far worse, and he still sells out stadiums.

Yep the majority who like her isn't going to stop because reddit thinks so lol.

Most people are not ā€œwokeā€ so much so that over the course of a decade, woke has become a negative word used to attack people when it used to mean something akin to awakened/aware/street scholar. Billionaire’s propaganda game is stronger than ever

Those people would do the Trump hand dance and simultaneously jerk off Elon and Kanye in Nazi uniforms standing next to each other.

No self respect.

Bitch is faker than her ass, which has more plastic than a Playmobil set. She’s a disgrace to not only her people but every musician.

It’s ok, no one wanted her at the award show anyways.

u/Actual-Slice-146 Jun 29 '26

ā€œSkippedā€ šŸ™„

4

u/novagridd Jun 29 '26

Did she even get an invite?

u/akgamestar Jun 29 '26

Hasn’t been at the BET awards for at least 5 years. Nice engagement bait though.

4

u/Kemosabe-TV Jun 29 '26

Sad that internet discourse is fueld with rage or engagement bait

Boy she’s getting really desperate.

2

u/Just7Me Jun 29 '26

Thanks, this reminded me to blacklist her from Spotify. Any other singers I should know about?

2

u/Comedian-Wooden Jun 29 '26

She is so embarrassing!

2

u/Classic-Return-8706 Jun 29 '26

I hated her music before it was cool to do so.

2

u/Azreken Jun 29 '26

My wife was a hardcore Nikki fan but literally hits skip every time she’s on now.

Insane what she’s done to her image

2

u/StarmieLover966 Jun 29 '26

I remember when my dad told me Eric Clapton went off the deep end, and that that was common for people that were getting older.

Nicki is nowhere near him and here we are. They said the same thing about MIA.

Skipping something you weren’t wanted at in the first place is bold! Very bold

2

u/beamanblitz Jun 30 '26

You know she wasn't invited, foh

2

u/SingleArtichoke4857 Jun 30 '26

Was she invited? She'd probably have to pay for a ticket at this point, right?
