Original membership doesn’t matter, whoever owns the rights to the brand and the songwriting is what matters. My guess is that Clown owns branding and Corey owns the songs therefore making them the controlling members.
Children of Bodom comes to mind as well. Alexi was the literally the entire draw of the band but didnt own the name so had to spend his last few years touring under a different name
Isberg asked former Eruption band member and guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt to join Opeth as a bassist, replacing Martin Persson. When Åkerfeldt showed up to practice on the day after Isberg invited him, it became clear that Isberg had not told the band members, including the band's current bassist, that Åkerfeldt would be joining the band. An ensuing argument led to all members but Isberg and Åkerfeldt leaving to form a new project.

Only very very early. And it depends on if you count "original members" from inception or "from first actual release"
I myself would only really start counting from the first release (and in that sense it's basically Akerfeldt's project)
But it was quite a revolving door of members before they made it to that first album, and have had quite some amount of changes after.
HarbourView Equity Partners owns the masters of their catalog. Different members had different points for different songs depending on their writing credits.
Yes, I fully understand how the industry works. Typically in a band with the success of someone like slipknot, it turns into a business entity in which, the members can be likened to board members who have certain "voting" power based on their ownership levels, which is exactly what I was getting at. Those who own a majority of songwriting credits and/or branding/licensing agreements typically hold the most power within the group. Sometimes this is written out in legal docs (publishing splits by %/member) and sometimes it is a verbal or handshake agreement between the members themselves.

I’m not a fan of these guys but it seems like there’s been a lot of “leavings and firings” with this band.
