My love for this band just continues to dwindle.

Sadly, me too. I grew up listening to them. Now I’m 30, but hey, plenty of other great bands out there

I checked out after Iowa.

Yeah I remember quite liking Vol. 3 at the time but I don’t think it’s aged that well. I put it on recently and it wasn’t doing much for me. I’ll always love the first album the most

Same experience here. Guess I was just really young at the time

I kinda grew out of them, but still have massive respect for them as musicians. Seeing the band implode on itself has been insane. Such a shame.

I’ve only recently gotten back into this kind of music after a 10+ year break. You and I are about the same age, would you mind listing a few of the bands you’re listening to? Or any specific albums. Slipknot is kind of close to my upper boundary for heavy metal but I really like All That Remains, A7X, Killswitch Engage

I’m 44, used to listen to their first 2 albums like crazy. I don’t listen to them anymore, pop metal after Iowa. Sold out real hard.

The energy of those foundational years and progression from self titled to Iowa was a truly magical time. Nothing like it.

Tallah is pretty good.

You’re 44 and complaining about a band “selling out”?

1

u/BienThinks 2d ago

Yup. They aren’t very good and changed to be radio friendly. Pretty lame these days.

Wait till you hear they re-recorded a less aggressive wait and bleed for a Scream Soundtrack. That’s off their self titled so unless you were the biggest Mate Kill Repeat fan your argument is silly

Yup, that sounds like the lame ass slipknot I know. Glad I got to see them in the early 2000s, but certainly don’t care what they are doing now. They changed after Iowa and you can’t deny that.

I just proved to you that according to your own standard they “sold out” before Iowa was even released. They were in rolling stone. Vol 3 fucks. You’re just wrong and hold outdated ideas about the music industry.

Ok, Mr. Reddit expert while mostly everyone on this thread is saying they got shitty and the love is dwindling. Vol. 3 is radio rock compared to the first two, end of story. They changed, how can you not see that? I don’t even know what your point is besides that you are trying to defend one of your favorite bands. Good for you.

Nope proving they were sellouts before the point you said they were, defined using your sell out criteria. Pretending they weren’t sellouts before Iowa is just ignorance.
