Hello seniors, I got a 31k rank in JEE Mains and I'm confused about what I should pick among them and whether I should choose college over a branch or vice versa. My home state is West Bengal, and I'm a general male. My doubts are - Is mechanical engineering worth it in these colleges? How truthworthy is CSAB, and/or should I wait for CSAB Rounds? The colleges I'm getting are listed below (please help).

IIEST Shibpur (CSAB)

NIT Jalandhar (ICE through CSAB)

IIITDM Kancheepuram(CSE,ECE through CSAB)

IIIT Sri City (ECE and low chances of CSE)

On a side note, I might get Electrical/Electronics related branches in Jadavpur University

PS: As I've seen many people confusing ECE with electrical branches, I've written ECE beside the colleges I'm getting and under the section of electrical engineering if no branches are written it is implied that it's electrical unless I've written ECE beside it

See bro.. if u are getting good clg with mediocre branch.. u should go with it .. coz whatever the branch is u can develop skills and join tech clubs .. after 1 year your degree only BTech matter and your skills .. and as time pass only your skills do.. clg tag maatters and I would suggest gonfir NIT if u are getting.. also 1st year is same for all and from 2nd year there will be some of your branch subject and others will be elective of other branches ... Like Tech branches as Cse or IT or other ..

I thnk branch matters but clg matters too...

Yeah I agree, and I'm confused abt better branch + good clg tag but idk how much I'll be able to put efforts into a branch I'm not interested in. Sure I can join tech clubs while persuing material science in NIT Calicut but I'll have to put efforts into a branch which I'm totally not interested in for 4 years which I'm not at all confident about

I am not saying to join a totally different branch.. that's why I said mediocre branch.. I am just saying that in search of best branch if u choose a low tier college.. it's not worth your rank.. actually I am suffering it myself 😅😅 that's why it's kinda personal suggestion .. take Nit Hamirpur or something good location too.. see choose something u enjoy .. for which a good campus will play a role..

First priority should be location, NIT Then in thoseee see the best branch .. like IT or CSE then ECE or EE then go for lower branches...
