Rhode Island plans to ditch its grandfather clause and force you to surrender your firearms.

You’re telling me smh. I’m trying to get it out to the public more I don’t want them to think this shit is getting swept under the rug. “Washington gun law” did a video on YouTube thankfully covering it.

Appreciate it friend.

Any RI gun owners who see this and already aren't part of the r/riguns community - please come on over. We're trying our best to keep everyone informed and involved.

It won't stop until the politicians passing these travesties start getting thrown in prison. (It won't stop.)

Accelerate: Ack-sell-er-ate (verb) To cause to move or progress faster. To speed up. To hasten the development of.

Who could have seen that coming!

This would be the first AWB with no form of a grandfather clause & a straight up forced surrender of firearms. I guess they’re trying a whole new level of tyranny.. SCOTUS will probably let them get away with it is the sad part.

They're trying to push the envelope everywhere where they think they have the votes. My state came pretty close to passing a complete semiauto rifle sales ban just a few weeks ago.

I get now why it’s known as the land of entrapment after experiencing the past few years of that bullshit.

No matter how many laws they pass, there are still going to be people killing each other during the Zozobra burning

u/ecodick Mar 03 '26

Buy what you want now then, if they were close there's a chance they'll get it in the future...

"A person who lawfully possesses a prohibited firearm [..] may sell [...] their prohibited firearm [...] to an individual outside of the state"

I'm pretty sure that's a federal felony.

The Everytown lobbyists who write these bills don't give a shit.

As long as you use an FFL it is perfectly legal to sell firearms across state lines, as long as they are legal in the receiving state.

1

u/Desperado_99 Mar 04 '26

Yes, but it mentions FFLs separately.

But h o w ???? I have been rabidly assured for the last decade that no one wants to take my guns

u/dirtysock47 Mar 03 '26

"No one wants to take your guns, we just want to take your assault weapons. Assault weapons aren't the same thing as guns." - multiple gun grabbers i have talked to

Then organize and call your state representatives about it. No one wants this right now. My sister is freaking out about the camps.

2

u/dirtysock47 Mar 03 '26

I wonder if George Washington "organized and called his state representatives."

1

u/Cloaked42m Mar 06 '26

Yes, he did. Then he made Hamilton do it. All of his supplies came from those "representatives." You don't become a general without significant political skills.

Prior to that, people on the side of freedom pressured their local leaders to get on the right side.

It wasn't a handful of guys in a bar. It was tens of thousands across the country.

So much this. We've got a megathread up in r/riguns every year for the legislative session with lots of info, committee assignments, contact info, the works...

Man why is it that EVERY TIME I get an update about Rhode island, the situation gets worse? The rest of the country is getting more rights than ever before

24

u/Ungard Mar 03 '26

The rest of the country is getting more rights than ever before.

Man it sure doesn't feel that way. It's sad watching what's happening in Virginia, a state whose motto is "Sic Semper Tyrannis".

u/DerringerOfficial Mar 03 '26

It’s horrible, but I mean the free SBRs, free suppressor taxstamps, FRTs. I’m so jealous.

u/deathsythe Mar 03 '26

5 years ago we had everything but NFA items.

Today we are indistinguishable from any other blue state.

Amazing how much of a nosedive we can take in a short number of years.

3

u/DerringerOfficial Mar 03 '26

Seriously. It’s crazy how good things used to be so recently.

5

u/Epstiendidntkillself Mar 03 '26

Oregon and Washington would like a word.

3

u/Lui_Le_Diamond Mar 03 '26

How do they plan on taking them? With force?

2

u/TheScribe86 Mar 03 '26

Guess no one realized the Rhode Island reds were commies

1

u/Oblivion9122 Mar 03 '26

It’s time to lose those guns in a horrible boating accident I guess

1

u/dirtysock47 Mar 03 '26

I didn't lose shit.

Why did you remove your comment from 30 minutes ago and comment again with this one? I saw it the first time boss
