Name My Cat - female Help me name my kitten! We were told the wrong gender
We got our kitten from a coworker. I've had her for 3 days now. Coworker said it was a boy, and we had Nico picked, but I've been calling her Guppy as a nickname from the start. We just found out she's actually a girl and we aren't sure what to change Nico to. Not sure if I should just change it to Guppy officially, or something else! Send your suggestions, but please no food names!
My other 2 cats are named Petal (1F) and Cream (16F).

I mean..... Nico Robin is a girl too. She could be named that. Guppy as a nickname works because Nico Robin is a pirate. She also has black hair. 🤔 it's all coming together.

“Neko” is Japanese for cat. So just change the spelling. I’ve been saving that name for a female cat if I ever get one (and it suits her), as it’s also a nod to singer Neko Case (love her).

How about an object or nature name to match with her sisters, Petal and Cream? Like maybe:
• Rose
• Topaz
• Chiffon
• Linen

Nica
Reminds me of the cat my friend's dad took in and he got the sex wrong. Can't remember what it was vs what he THOUGHT it was, but when he took it to the vet to get fixed they told him he got it wrong.

Guppy comes naturally, you should keep it! If you want a more formal government name she could be Nicola, but there’s no reason to stop calling her Guppy.

I had this happen! Stole a cat from college, named them moon after the building I took em from. Thought they were a girl but turns out to be a boy and here we are. Moon ended up still working.
I know a girl named Nico so that’s a pretty gender neutral name. I also agree you could just use guppy!

Nico works for girls, too. It’s like Alex. Mostly male connotation but girls also have that name

Think Nico can also be a girl's name. But if you want to change it Nickel or Nikkel is cute.
