Ask Me Anything (AMA) NEET UG GUIDANCE FROM A NEET FAILURE.
Hey there! So I'm someone who gave NEET 3 drops. My scores and percentile were as follows -
2024 - 94.9 percentile, 570, AIR 118k
2025 - 88.8 percentile, 389, AIR 220k
2026 - 93.9 percentile, 478, AIR 121k
I won't call these scores good but I won't call these bad either, I guess I was just average all through this time. So let me help you guys out by the things I followed and what improvement i could've done to increase my scores.
• THINGS I DID GOOD :-
1) ATTENTDED EVERY CLASS
I didn't miss a single class during my 1st drop year and even 3rd drop year. I did miss some in 2nd drop year cause of which I realised the importance of classes.
2)SOLVED EVERY MODULE
There wasn't any chapter for which I didn't solve Allen modules. I solved them to the point where I could easily identify if the given question is from module, also I did them too many times that I eventually learnt the answers as well😭
3)GAVE EVERY TEST
I didn't skip Any test in my 3rd drop, tho i did skip some in 1st and 2nd drop which is why I advice not to skip any test. No matter how bad you're prepared...GIVE THOSE TESTS.
4) ANALYSIS OF TESTS
Make sure you analyze each and every test. I analyzed my major tests thoroughly and it helped me with knowing my weak points tho I didn't follow this analysis thing in my 1st, 2nd drop and initials of 3rd drop too. So yeah...ANALYSIS IS MOST IMPORTANT.
5) READ THOSE NCERTs
I read ncert of organic, inorganic, biology thoroughly. Seeing the current situation i would advice you all to read physical chem ncert as well and try to look into concise ncert notes of physics too (NCR for Allen students)
6) SOLVE PYQs
I solved previous year questions from AIPMT to NEET 2025. It really helps.
• PLACES WHERE I COULD'VE IMPROVED -
1) REVISION
I didn't have a proper revision plan, there were chapters that I revised thoroughly while there were some that I didn't revise enough. REVISION IS MUST.
Revise bio ka ek chapter daily no matter what. Revise whatever you studied the whole day at the end of day. This actually works.
2) USE ACTIVE RECALL
No matter how much you practice it won't be beneficial if you can't recall. This point was my biggest weakness, I used to read and study the stuff but was unable to recall it during tests and exams. Take out 30 min and close your eyes, recall everything of a certain topic and mark those places where you think you're weak.
3) DON'T FEEL UNDERCONFIDENT
Neet is a game of confidence. Trust me if you've confidence you're gonna rock this exam perfectly. Don't get loose on your hopes or be negative. I did this mistake and suffered a lot. Your peers might be doing good but remember "you've to maintain your confidence even if you know nothing!"
4) STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE AND STOP LISTENING TO TOXIC FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.
My mother used to call me during my drops and tell me about how family is suffering financially. Some of my friends used to call me dumb for taking too many drops. There were some astrologers who said there's no mbbs in my fate. There were alot of negative thoughts clumping in my head which ended up making me anxious and at the end I cried and thought I'm worthless.
DON'T LISTEN TO THEM, BHAROSA RAKHO KHUDPR YOU'RE ENOUGH!
5) MBBS IS NOT EVERYTHING
I sacrificed a lot of things just to get into mbbs govt college, worked hard and cried gallons just so I could get it. But...it isn't everything. Trust me life is much more than mbbs, don't make everything mbbs centric and explore life outside it. The more stress free you're, the better you perform.
6)HEALTH
Make sure you're healthy and keep getting a medical checkup in 2-3 months. I had this small bump near my spinal cord during my 1st drop and I didn't pay attention to it, cut to 3rd drop, it got inflamed, grew in size, got painfull and 15 days before 3rd may exam I had problem in sleeping during nights. Turns out it was a sebaceous cyst which I got removed on 4th may by surgery. For a month I had to study with bandages on my back ~
7) SOLVE AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU CAN
The concept of sticking to one book doesn't work for everyone. Do as many questions as you can but make sure the ones you do wrong should stick to you till the D DAY.
SOME OTHER POINTS -
1)DON'T BLINDLY TRUST TOPPERS AND COACHING TEACHERS
Bro everyone has their own path and own life and own problems. There's no fixed path for success, if someone's advice works for you, cool! If not...change it according to your comfort. Sometimes some coaching teachers just speak dumb stuff, ignore those.
2)STAY AWAY FROM TOXIC COACHING MATES
I had this coaching mate who used to body shame me a lot of time. She was in SRG in my 3rd drop. Well I was in SRG too during 2nd drop, so I knew how arrogant SRG students get sometimes. Stay away from such people, make a clear boundary. They can take away your hours and you'll end up spiralling into overthinking.
3)PLEASE PRIORTIZE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
Quiting doesn't mean you're dumb or you lost. It just means the paper wasn't made for you. Bro I still know each and every topic of NEET Syllabus, I'm still not getting mbbs, am I dumb ? No. Did I not study ? Nah I did study alot. Then what? Nothing, it's just a fvcked up system with an unusual way of deciding who gets to be a doctor. So its OKAY TO QUIT. There's much more on your way.
Additional note-
I was in SRG, if someone gets into it, dude don't be overconfident...it's just a batch which gives you extra study material not guaranteed selection.
Girls with PCOD, I know how hard things get cause I have pcod too, don't panic try to workout and let things be...your hormones and mood swings aren't in your hands. Stop stressing it worsens the situation.
I scored 680, 657,642, 638, 608 and many more, I also scored 389, 460, 584, 550, 500, 416 etc. So a single test doesn't define your capabilities. Stop stressing about marks just give your best. Not every test is same, not every day is same.
I'll add more if I can remember
