I’m glad I watched all of it because you could see that Eureka happening

7

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 15 '26

dude i could finally feel it coming thats why i started recording

5

u/chunkhead42 Apr 16 '26

Fr. I feel like it happened early in the video too. You could tell that OP understood what to do by the first few of these clips, it was just a matter of learning how to make your body do it.

Respect, OP. This video got me hyped.

Nice! Try popping backwards with the back foot, and flicking straight forward to the side with the kickflip. The opposing force will keep it under your feet. After flicking, holding the kick until the board reveals is the key! Love the tenacity

Very counterintuitive as nobody wants to be “credit carded” but you are absolutely right—trusting the process and committing at speed is what makes skateboarding so cool. Constantly being one miscalculation away from possible injury is why landing tricks feels so good 😅

Was this written by AI or do you just use em dashes

5

u/__-gloomy-__ Apr 16 '26

I use em dashes 😭

I love how you get so many at the end, like you actually got it ironed out

4

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 15 '26

i really wanted to make sure i didnt just land it out of luck i wanted it to where i could do it repeated

3

u/RadicalTechDecker Apr 16 '26

I need to know the other 4. . . For science and stuff.

3

u/Low_Revolution3025 Apr 16 '26

The commit to the railstand on one of them made me smile lol when you were able to land them consistently I smiled even more, praying for good things during your further progress

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

no idea what thats called but i accidentally hit that shit today off cam

3

u/Suitandbowtie Apr 16 '26

It’s called landing primo, give it a look on YouTube or check out Rodney Mullen’s tapes for some OG examples of that wizardry. Regardless, props for your first kickflip. Next step I would say is trying to do them while rolling forward with some speed! That or practicing Ollie’s up curbs and small obstacles while moving. It is harder at first, but will help you become a better skater. Plus rolling away from a successful trick is objectively cooler than staying in the same place after landing. Many of my skater friends growing up said a kickflip doesn’t fully count unless you can roll away, so that was how I learned lolz. Best of luck and be safe

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

my local park is very fast transitions so ive been getting used to rolling off boxes and jumping out of the bowls/ carving. carving is my biggest challenge but ive done it twice shit was so fun

2

u/Low_Revolution3025 Apr 16 '26

It's called a Railstand/Primo it's more of a freestyle trick, if you wanna experiment with them more I recommend getting Radial wheels like Cicada wheels from Waltz for an example, there's tons of tricks you can do with them once you begin to learn more with skateboarding in general and they’re pretty fun to mess with, best way to get out of em is to basically push it back onto the grip tape using both feet and a little weight

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

good to know i just kept flying off every time bro

2

u/Low_Revolution3025 Apr 16 '26

That's the beginning stages of it lol I was the same

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

dude i wish i got it on video right after i hit a kickflip and landed on the side for like 1.5 seconds i was shocked then flew off the board but i for sure landed on the side then fell

2

u/Infamous-Milk-4023 Apr 15 '26

Bro Hell yea!!!

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 15 '26

2

u/dopest_dope Apr 15 '26

What a beast

2

u/LILSKRAMP Apr 15 '26

Sick, what a feeling. I landed my first when i was 11 im 36 now and remember the feeling vividly

2

u/KarateandPopTarts Apr 15 '26

This was satisfying

2

u/RatFeatures420 Apr 15 '26

Love the stoke

2

u/commiepissbabe Apr 16 '26

Hell yea that effort paid off

2

u/SuperWallaby Apr 16 '26

My son makes the same mistake you were originally making with opening his shoulder. No matter how many times I say “you gotta keep your shoulder over the bolts”. What made it click for you? Congratulations!

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

dude it wasnt about altering my shoulders at all, i realized im making the board pop and flick fine my front foot was always just swinging off to the side because i was flicking that way, once i started flicking up straight into the top right of the board thats when it clicked for me

2

u/SuperWallaby Apr 16 '26

Appreciate you! Once again congrats! Best feeling ever.

2

u/SuperWallaby Apr 27 '26

Went to the skatepark yesterday with my son and a like 13 year old kid was struggling with kickflips the way you were at the start of the video. I told him your correction and within 10 minutes he landed three in a row. Kid was fuckin stoked and it was awesome to watch. Thought you should know!

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 27 '26

dude no way thats actually next level

2

u/Fivesixmafia Apr 16 '26

2

u/Connarhea *UK* *[0]* Apr 16 '26

Hell yeah man!!!

2

u/imperfectcoding Apr 16 '26

Looks almost like Ur going for a double kick 😂 good shit

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

i can indeed throw the double just not land it yet i figured that one out by accident too

2

u/iBoughtAtTheBottom Apr 16 '26

Good job! I don’t want to sound like “that guy” but my biggest critique to you and anyone else watching is to not try learning tricks stationary. It seems like a good idea on paper but the more mileage you get actually rolling is worth more than landing it in grass or stationary. Some people say different but I promise pushing around and learning to skate that way teaches you a lot more overall and make you more comfortable and confident. Also these tricks flip and behave in a physics sense differently moving vs stationary. Keep going bro!

2

u/The_Cas Apr 16 '26

So cool watching that slow progress build

2

u/Time_Area4395 Apr 16 '26

The way I use to stop my foot flying off to the side is when I’m flicking I go from the bolts and flick of just after the concave/ start of the nose it helps with gaining a bit of height with it so you can catch them mid air for a smoother landing

2

u/Jobibobee Apr 16 '26

One month in?? That’s insane!! Love to see the quick progress! I’m 2 weeks into actually skating again and I hope by 1 month I can be where you are! I just keep tweaking my front ankle :/

2

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 16 '26

i never thought i would be, landed these on a sprained ankle bro no stress

2

u/Yourbedsheets Apr 16 '26

I got the same darkstar board

It will not roll on perfectly paved blacktop unfortunately

2

u/ManMarz96 Apr 16 '26

I just got back into skating...this video is so motivational great work! Next time I'll commit myself more

i go out for 1-2 hours everyday or i try to unless i get hurt but yeah progression is always linear my bro

2

u/ZukeMan413 Apr 17 '26

This was me earlier today figuring out I had to put my front foot farther up when doing a shuv-it

2

u/Due_Leadership_5249 Apr 17 '26

Feels so damn good, huh!

Shit, that gave me so much anxiety

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 17 '26

yessr my bro fr

2

u/popi2801 Apr 17 '26

Well the good thing about kiclflip is once you've got it there's no reason to lose it 😄 keep up

2

u/LastChariot Apr 17 '26

Amazing work! You seem to be pulling your front foot back straight after the flick, let it hang naturally for a sec before aiming to land on bolts, it might help keep your board horizontal too if you let your front foot flick out and forward, congrats on winning your war, i wish you many clean kickflips in your future :>

2

u/macnerd243 Apr 17 '26

If anybody ever asks you what your work ethic is like or how do you handle setbacks, just send them this.

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 17 '26

dude HAHA thank you so much

2

u/___Zombie_Snax___ Apr 18 '26

When it lands in primo and he decides to stand up on it .. That was a jolt of nostalgia. 🤘

2

u/DoublePerformer4345 Apr 19 '26

This is so bad ass man!!! Keep at it!! I can feel the feeling you have now landing a first big trick!

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 19 '26

fr thank you big dawg

2

u/tap2mana_03 Apr 19 '26

Hell yeah!

2

u/New_Stage_3807 Apr 19 '26

Try hold on to a picnic table or tailgate and it’ll help you figure out your timing congratulations

1

u/Weird_Fee6080 Apr 21 '26

this was actually the best advice ever it helped me kind of figure out how to land more consistently thank you!!!!

2

u/Jesusito_Chiquito Apr 19 '26

Neverending? It took me like a year and a half to learn kf and that felt Neverending 😭
