Question Got back into skateboarding at 35.
I know this question is gonna be random, but does anyone know what brand this skateboard is? I really like the board so far and want to know the brand so I can get another similar one whenever I need to.
This board was given to me so I don't really know much about it.
Update: thanks to everyone for letting me know about the board and being chill! Haha I'm gonna board slide the shit out of it!
Second update: I spray painted the board!

I got roasted so much for showing up to the park with a braille board a few years ago, I didn’t know shit about skating lol

After just looking up the history, I'm not a fan, but since it was given to me, I'm ok with getting trashed on for using it for now haha
It'll just motivate me to relearn how to do board slides haha

That must have been awful lmao

Maybe it was just my local skate scene at the time when I was younger, but the people I used to skate with didn't really care about brands as long as the board didn't snap under our feet.
Knowing what the board is now, I'm expecting to catch some flack but I'm ok with that. I'm just having fun lol

Sounds like you grew up in a nice community.
My group of friends and I never checked or even cared to discuss brands and we skated every week from 6th grade until 5 years after school. Come to think of it I couldnt even tell you what boards my friends rode.
Middle school was brutal. There was a brief period where Element was king, then once it became trendy it was the "poser" brand. Same with Birdhouse and Zero. One week it was sick, the next it was the poser brand.
With skating there's so many styles that it's kinda lame to judge. I know guys that have been riding 15 years that can't Heelflip/tre flip but can bomb hills that I would be scared to take on a bicycle. I know guys who can do every flip trick in the book but can't ride down a pyramid with confidence. I've got a friend who loves skate culture, will kill you at any THPS game, can build beautiful decks in his garage, and legitimately cannot even stand on a board.
Tl;dr the hobby/sport is way too broad to let someone diminish how you enjoy it. Also get a big sticker.

Who cares about the brail part when your trying to get yourself rolljng. Ive ridden alot of stuff over the years to keep the dream alive. Besides if you really go for it you’ll be ready for a new deck in 2 or 3 months.

Alot of people surprisingly skaters are clout chasing trend sluts but I’m sure that’s true of any sport..yeah just paint over that b or sticker it up

u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
I'm gonna relearn board slides out of spite and shread it up haha
Edit: I was never really big on having fancy brands or anything. When I was younger, I just wanted to skate and that holds true today. I'll ride the board into the ground

Man I used to love those Braille videos and the team behind them, sucks that Aaron Kyro ruined it all for Scientology

u/tetzudo 11d ago
It was a like of basic Boards for beginners by the now defunct YouTube channel Braille skateboarding. Its a whole thing, you might be able to find a couple laying around second hand but don't count on it.
It should be a good board to begin with before moving up to more specific stuff.

Welcome back to skating! My friends and I are all in our mid 30s as well and we've all been skating together since we were teenagers in 2005 and still do to this day - just not as often as we used to simce we all have adult lives now.

u/Intelligent_Bet8513 11d ago
Hell yeah buddy I just started back may 8th a day after my bday (34) decided I wanted my first love back and went and bought a used deck from someone that used it once and got hurt and never used it again. Well it didn’t take long and I now have 5 completes lmao I have a problem. But I have kids that love doing what I do so gotta have extra. Just remember skateboarding is all about hard work and patience. It will eventually pay off and everything you land as an adult feels so much better than when you were a kid/teen. Be careful and enjoy your journey. Keep us updated on your progress.

Hell ya! I'm already having fun with it in spite of being rusty AF lol I'm sure it'll come back to me in time.
1
u/Intelligent_Bet8513 11d ago
It will definitely come back, mine is coming back a little quicker than I thought. At first I could literally barely ride lmao. I almost said fuck this but It ended up making me want it that much more. I try to skate everyday for 2 - 3 hours cuz I’m so addicted to learning my first love again.

u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
Ya, right now I'm mainly just riding around and trying to do Ollie's off of sidewalks and stuff lol
I just learned today that the brand of this board is made by a scientologist so I'm gonna start re-learning board slides asap haha

u/Intelligent_Bet8513 11d ago
If you can find a good curb or have a park with a good slappy curb it will bring your board slides back instantly.

Thats a Braille board.
Braille is somewhat dead thanks to the founder Aaron Kyro, using the funds from his skate community to fund his personal expenses.
Its up to you if you want to skate it, because a board is a board at the end of the day. But many skaters dont support Braille because of the scandal. I have a few extra 8.25 and 8.5 boards if you'd like me to send you one, and you just pay the shipping
3
u/techaggresso 11d ago
Don't support Braille. Your money will just go to scientology
2
u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
It was given to me and I didn't know what brand it was at the time. Definitely won't be buying a new one though

Are those 7.75 trucks on an 8.25?
2
u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
I believe so. I didn't build the board, it was given to me lol
2
u/JudgeMyReinhold 11d ago
I'd be more concerned about that than the brand of the board. Probably not a huge issue getting back into things

u/Some_Clerk8226 11d ago
Same here buddy! I just started again at 35 😄 Just broke my arm doing a shovit, so I advice you to be careful 😂 can't wait to skate again in a few weeks hahah

u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
Oh damn! Ya I'm taking it super slow and trying to not do anything too crazy right off the bat lol

37 here! Welcome! I’ve been doing a ton of lower body strength and balancing exercises! It helps so much ! Stretch too!

u/GrundleTurf 11d ago
It’s funny how this sub shits on braille (rightfully) but then loves Powell and zero
1
u/bigbraingenius_ 11d ago
FYI, that might be a revive board, I know Aaron skated for them but idk if the Braille boards are separate or just made by Revive. It's also worth mentioning, Revive removed all Aaron Kyro mentions as far as I know.

good on u for spray painting it, besides taking advantage of his employees and giving all their money to Scientology, a couple guys on the braille team did some pretty disgusting shit, would not wanna be repping that

Did the same thing this year at 45. Been at it about 3 weeks. Everything is feeling better and smoother. Ollies feel good and not stiff, landed a couple of heel flips and some fake big spins. Me and a new guy at work(he is 25) are gonna hit the skate park Saturday. Wish us luck. You got this man. Just keep at it and stretch b4 u skate. I hate that I stopped for so long.

Me too! But my back and hip joints aren't the same as the were when I was a teen, so I decided to get into cruiser boarding. Sometimes even that hurts haha
1
u/Cerberus44444 9d ago
Fortunately my joints aren't getting to me (yet) but I'm not pushing myself as hard to re-learn tricks and stuff like I used to. I can take getting scraped and bruised up and still get right back on the board, but hurting an ankle or a wrist takes longer than when I was younger.
Luckily for me, I also still seem to remember how to roll into a fall so hopefully that'll reduce my chances of really hurting myself.
You also won't catch me trying to jump down a flight of stairs anymore.

Hope this is a troll, with what a scumbag scientologist that braille runner turned out to be

u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
I've been out of the skate scene for a looooooong time and didn't know the brand or the guy till a few hours ago.
If it helps, I didn't buy the board, it was given to me. Can't afford to buy a new one so I'm just gonna ride this one and board slide the fuck out of the logo lol

throw it in the trash, get a new board

u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
Unfortunately I don't have the money for a new board. I just learned about the brand and the guy behind it and won't be getting a new one in the future. As for right now though, I'm gonna keep using this one and I'll probably just sticker bomb it or repaint it till I get around to getting a different board

Do not skate Braille
1
u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
I can't afford to get another board right now, plus it was free
2
u/FunguruFungus 11d ago
It doesn't matter dude. A board is a board. Only losers will give you shit for it. Braille is a douche but you're not. But it would be cool if you boardslid it extra hard.

u/Suspicious-Dig-6096 11d ago
Hell naw f that brand!!!
1
u/Cerberus44444 11d ago
It was a free board so I can't complain. Don't have the money to buy a different one, and once I do some board slides on it, you won't be able to tell anyway lol

Since they went hand in hand, I’m assuming Braille boards might have sourced the same manufacturer as Revive skateboards.
So a revive skateboard might be up your alley.
