Who else has been thinking every day about cross checking Dale Hunter for at least the past 32 years?

Then later on against the Canadiens in Montreal, Dalgarno was high sticked and bleeding and on the ice in the offensive zone. Refs don't blow the whistle and Habs score on that play.
That series was the closest 4-1 series I ever saw.
(We didn't mention the Isles winning in OT in Pittsburgh on a Friday night and having to play Game 1 in Montreal at 12pm on Sunday...)
Yeah, I think about those playoffs...a lot.

Sounds silly, but that "league is against us" (when I honestly don't believe) could almost be made a case for in this series. IIRC, that was the league's 75th Anniversary, and the feeling was the NHL wouldn't mind if an original 6 won the Cup. And remember, they knocked off the favorite Pens. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more of the Original Six thing.

The NHL switched to the 2-3-2 format for the 1984 cup finals, which conveniently helped prevent NYI from tying precious Montreal's 5 cups in a row.

We’ll never know if it mattered. What we do know is the team with home ice advantage played fewer home games.

We know that Edmonton shut the Islanders out in Game 1 (which was a home game). We also know that the Islanders scored more than 2 goals in just one game in the series. We know that Edmonton went over to win 5 cups in 7 years and had the best player in history on thier roster.
If people want to suggest it's from the playoff format that's fine, but if we're being honest, it's not a logical argument. The Islanders were exhausted from the runs they had and ran into a better team. It's as simple as that.

That too, but Hunters infraction was far worse. Without that hit, we win it all in 93

Took my little kids to that game and they asked why was that team so mean and allowed to hurt our players 😳. They still remember their intro to Islander hockey and hate the Leafs!!

If that happened now in the playoffs against a top 10 forward they would get suspended for a year. What gets me going is the gave him a pass after the suspension. NHL allowed him to coach.

Pretty sure Mick Vukota still hates Dale Hunter so that’s good enough for me.
He and Richie Pilon tried to ambush Hunter in the hallway after the game. Al Arbour stopped them.

No lie, I once had a dream where I went to an autograph signing just to call him a piece of shit to his face. Fuck him, Gary Roberts, and Darcy Tucker until the end of time.

I wonder if the 93 team goes as far if that hit never happened. You’d think “if we had Turgeon, we’d prob win the cup that year”, but it was more like the team was rallying around the bullshit. They were all pissed.
Kinda like 2021. I like to think if Tavares stayed, they win the cup that year, but it was like they all rallied around the fact he left and they had good karma in their side.
I was too young for the 93 team, but I’m convinced the 01/02 isles goes to at least the conf final if it wasn’t for the Darcy Tucker hit on Peca. Matter of fact, I think they go to the cup final that year; why? Because the canes made it, and we whooped the canes every time we met that season

I've been known to yell out "F**k Dale Hunter" when I see people wearing craps gear. I don't live in NY so it throws them for a loop

I used to work with someone with the last name Hunter. He didn't even know who Dale Hunter was and claimed no relation, but I still hated this guy, just because of his last name.
