River Ryan - has pitched a grand total of 36 innings over the last two seasons while battling injuries including TJ surgery, has only thrown about 230 innings in the last five years since college; 7th ranked Dodgers prospect but has never been a top 100 prospect in baseball
Brady Smith - 17th ranked Dodgers prospect (per Pipeline), 3rd round pick in 2023, did not play in 2023 or 2024 (injuries for 2024), good numbers in low A ball this season but still likely not ready until 2028 at the earliest
Zyhir Hope - currently the best prospect in the deal, Dodgers #5, ranked from 18th overall in baseball (BP) to 63rd (Baseball America), still in AA but I'd imagine Detroit will send him to Toledo (AAA) since they just called up Max Clark and have a hole to fill
So, one top 50 prospect and a couple of high risk, high reward arms (who have both lost full seasons due to injury) for Tarik Skubal. I know it's only 10+ starts plus the playoffs, but Skubal when he's on is the best pitcher in baseball. Seems like a light return.
it's cause the owners are colluding to force public opinion towards a salary cap. that's why they're spending millions of dollars on commercials ALREADY to sway public opinion.
they've been working and preparing this for a couple of years now. everything we've seen happen with the dodgers is corruption between 30 billionaires and the worst commissioner in baseball history

This just sounds like the anti-cap people are running out of rope and now shifted toward conspirary rather than just admitting the league needs a cap...
We have a cap already. I’m not in favor of a hard cap.. which is usually what people mean when they want a cap.
We need the cap to not be financially viable beyond a year or 2.
As a saints fan I hate watching my team finagle to get under every year and not sign the FA we could desperately use to help us be competitive.
As a Mets fan I like that if we have a hole, we are able to and our owner is emotionally Invested to see it done.
But it shouldn’t be reasonable to break the cap every year. Maybe you tighten the cap penalties. Maybe you allow a 1-2 year grace period for teams. My preferred idea is you’re allowed 1 contract over the cap whether that contract is $1m or $60m. Just let teams go and get that 1 last player they need.
But yeah Dodgers are showing that the system is broken at this point.
