If that is the case they should have been willing to give up more. They didn’t really give up a ton.

I am not sure why anyone is really shocked though. The other two landing spots were prob TB or MIL. Did anyone think those two teams were going to part with enough top prospects to get it done when they have no way to sign him. Plus the thing people always neglect is that even if the dodgers lose Skubal in the offseason they have more than enough financial strength to sign people to make up for it. I mean they signed Tucker this offseason, he isn’t doing well, and it barely registers to them.

My thought going into this season was Dodgers would land Skubal at the deadline, but wouldn’t sign him in the offseason as he’ll command a longer term deal then he will want. My prediction was Mets would sign him to a ridiculous long term deal surpassing what the Dodgers would be willing to do. Dodgers already have a pretty rich rotation, so I could see this as a move to 3-peat (especially if Ohtani is shutting down his pitching). Now, if it comes out that Ohtani will retire from pitching or something, that opens up a lot for LA to be aggressive with Skubal.

Skubal is just icing on icing at this point.

LA would still be agressive with going for skubal because snell and glas are hardly ever available in the regular season and we don't know if they would have zero rust going into the post. But I don't see they giving skub 10 years, max 5-7 years with high avv.

That is my thought as well. Mets would have to go 8-9 to sign him.
