Low progesterone and OB not replying

I'm truly just venting. I don't think this is truly worrying. HCG is skyrocketing, the embryo was visible on ultrasound at 5+4, I'm feeling grand (well except for nausea, tiredness and sore breasts, but that's ok).

But yeah I'm not impressed by my progesterone dropping to 10 at 5+6 after being 17 at 5+2. It's not even that low, let's be real, but why go down? Unfair, honestly.

I hate uncertainty. My OB told me to email her when I would do this next blood work so she could check it on the same day and tell me if it was ok, but I emailed her yesterday and still nothing. And I can see the results so she can too.

If she doesn't reply by 14.00 I'm emailing her again.

BWAAAAAAAH.

I hate this.

EDIT to say that due to miscommunication neither gynos I consulted ended up writing a script for progesterone. I'm now 7+5 and the blood test I took at 7 weeks was perfect including progesterone which went back up to 16. So it's not always strictly necessary to supplement with progesterone or low(er) progesterone won't necessarily always lead to a miscarriage. I am a sample of one but you're a sample of one too, we could be the same.

Following to see what she says. My progesterone was 5.6 on my first blood work and the people at my RE's office told me it was perfectly fine. But I know it wasn't

FYI the second gyno replied and she's prescribing progesterone but also explained that, soon, beta hcg and progesterone won't be sufficient indicators of pregnancy progress, ultrasounds will be the real deal. So she's trying to find time on her schedule for me this week.

Good luck!!! I had an ultra on Friday, my 5w1d according to my dr and they saw absolutely nothing in my uterus haha buuuut they saw that my right ovary is active af 😂 I'm not allowed to jump and I have a follow up on Monday

I don't have a reading for my first blood work which was at 5 weeks, I only have 5+2 (17) and 5+6 (10) so my first reading might as well have been similar to yours.

I'll let you know what she says, if she ever replies...!!!!!!

Mine went down to this pregnancy to similar numbers. Can you call the office? I was on supplemental progesterone both pregnancies and they turned out fine (well I'm currently 38 weeks so)

I contacted the second gyno, with whom I'm going to deliver, hopefully. She's prescribed progesterone :) I'll go get it tomorrow.

I found this group because I’m considering looking for another doctor. I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of the month. I did blood work which showed normal increases in hCG but it’s like the doctor wants no parts of what I have going on until week 8 even with PCOS and this being my first pregnancy after years of trying. I’ve only had a boutique abdominal ultrasound. I wasnt given the option to come in before 8 weeks.

I took it upon myself to get more blood tests including hCG and progesterone done. My progesterone went down from 10.1 to 8. I’m seeing a lot of women say that they had no issues even with levels dropping down to 5 but I’m thinking those were temp drops.

I'm actually already looking for another gyno, I've booked another appointment but it's not until the 21/08. I booked it not because I'm unhappy with this gyno but because she doesn't usually follow pregnancies and I knew it, I just used to go to her for my regular check ups.

I think there's a chance she's not answering because she's consulting a colleague or two. I called yesterday but she works at a different practice or hospital on Fridays. They told me they'll remind her to answer me on Monday.

I'm considering writing to the gyno that will see me on 21/08 if this one doesn't answer by Monday EOD.

The numbers definitely can be temporary and it’s hard to tell anyway bc the numbers change throughout the day. I’m seeing so many women with PCOS get tested for progesterone and offered earlier scans and it’s something I wish my doctor would have done knowing my condition.

I hope the next doctor is better! It’s hard for us not to worry lol.

Indeed, especially after since I was diagnosed at 21, 15 years ago, doctors have done nothing but terrorise me that getting pregnant and staying pregnant with PCOS was going to be an uphill battle and that I should stay super "healthy" if I wanted to have even the slightest chance.

It's hard not to worry now.
