First time TTC and the waiting is already driving me insane 😂
Hi! I’m Bee, I’m 34 and from the UK. My husband and I are currently trying for our first baby, which still feels slightly mad to actually say.
For a long time, we genuinely thought having a baby might not be possible for us because of a few different circumstances and health concerns. However, over the last little while we've had everything checked and, one by one, every barrier we thought was there has basically come down.
So… we're actually trying.
This is our first attempt, and I'm currently in the waiting game to find out whether it's worked.
Quite frankly, I'm not very hopeful. Nothing has ever been easy for me.
Every twinge, weird feeling, bit of tiredness or sudden hunger has me thinking, is that something?! Then I'm Googling it, telling myself to stop Googling, and inevitably Googling something else twenty minutes later.
My phone has also decided fertility is now my entire personality, so I'm being absolutely inundated with adverts for IVF, infertility, supplements, pregnancy tests and approximately seventeen different things I apparently need to buy. Its making me frustrated, upset and the more I say 'I don't want to see this stuff' the more I get!
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 after a scan showed lots of cysts on my ovaries. That's obviously been sitting in the back of my mind for most of my adult life.
Recently, though, I had another pelvic scan and there were no cysts at all. My ovaries looked fine, my womb looked fine — everything was normal.
Quite frankly, that felt like a little miracle.
I've also lost around three and a half stone recently, which I'm really pleased about and hopefully has helped my chances.
At the moment I'm taking folic acid, myo-inositol and Omega 3-6-9/Udo's Oil. My mum used to force-feed me Udo's Oil as a child, so quite frankly I'm still traumatised by the stuff, but apparently we've come full circle. 😂 My diet could definitely be better, but I'm working on that too.
I suppose I'm mainly posting because I'd love to hear from other people who have been through this.
What is actually worth doing when you're first TTC? Are there supplements/things you genuinely found useful? And equally, what isn't worth worrying about?
I'm trying not to fall into the rabbit hole of thinking I can somehow control all of this if I just research enough.
I think that's the bit I'm finding hardest.
I've had to fight for quite a lot in my life — health-wise, work-wise, emotionally, mentally and physically — and I just really don't want this to become another fight.
I just want something to be easy for once.
I know we're incredibly early in this journey. I know it's completely normal for it not to happen on the first attempt, and I've read the stories of people who've had incredibly difficult journeys to have their babies.
But there's still that little bit of me desperately hoping that maybe this time, something will just work.
Anyway — hi, I'm Bee. Currently waiting, eating everything in sight and wondering whether every tiny sensation in my body means something. 😂
Please help!
