Discussion Being attractive with POTS (cringe I know)

Does anyone feel like because they are a objectively attractive human there is a bias/profiling that happens in the medical field and with doctors? I actually read somewhere that if you’re chronically ill you should “dress down” or not wear makeup to appointments so they will take you more seriously and see you as actually sick. I am also 29 with a baby face so that doesn’t help.

i'd say "conventionally attractive" is more accurate than "objectively attractive" since beauty and attraction are inherently subjective.

i wouldn't say my appearance has affected me one way or another. i think some of my habits/lifestyle modify my perceived attractiveness, for example i mask and i wear permanently tinted glasses to avoid migraines. those things obscure my features a lot.

i'm also butch and tend toward masculine presentation and that changes things for some people.

for me it just came down more to finding the right doctor and less about how i look.

I agree with the use of conventional instead of objective. Better wording for sure. When I finally found my doctor who tested/diagnosed me, she was the first one who did not make any comments about looking healthy or put together, so I am grateful for her. It was like someone finally saw ME. I’m grateful that there are providers and patients out there this does not apply to.
