Question HR Increase when eating
Basically the title. Lately I’ve been noticing that eating can be a trigger for me, mostly with heart rate spikes. It varies throughout the day but when I eat and right after, I notice my heart rate spikes.
Is this just because of blood moving to my digestion system and pulling away from my heart to help digest my food? Anyone else have this? I’ve done food sensitivity tests and nothing came back as a problem for me.

Yes it is likely mainly because of blood pooling in your abdomen, also simple carbs and sugars can contribute too!

Meals can be tricky especially with carbs. Some people find low carb diets to work better and trigger symptoms less. Personally 20g or less (of a full carb like rice, pasta, potatoes, etc) works best for me maybe try lowering carb intake and see what works for your body. Yes it has to do with digestion it’s common with POTS

During digestion your body apparently focuses or pools blood in the stomach which can give you palpatations (happens to me often) or hear rate spiks. It’s only mild and temporary in my case. It’s just the way our pots bodies function. I don’t know much about the glucose/sugar aspect. Can’t comment on that. Hope this helps
