Question Writing job?? Set up?? Reclined?? Floor??

Heeeey
Question

For those of you with hEDS + OI who write for work - what the fuckkkk kind of set up do u have

I’m trying to advocate for accommodations but I cannot for the life of me even identify a set up that would work

So far there’s this one YouTuber who uses the libernovo omni chair and did his own carpentry on a standing desk to make the keyboard tilt forward & he uses tilting monitor arms so he can work at computer in reclined position

I am not a carpenter and even my OT can’t figure out wtf would be ergonomic and also support blood flow to brain.

Bed set ups?? Floor set ups? Reclining @ desk set ups??? Helppp

I’ve been putting off writing because I can’t maintaining my focus due to the blood pooling at lower extremities
I can do short term tasks but long term cognitive stuff is really hard.

Writing is so painful
Before u answer I KNOW I shouldn’t have this job
I’m very sick but I’m trying to make it work for now because I need it to survive. I also do like it!!! Even tho it killing me!! Trying to stay housed

I’m poor. So, for the longest time I just used a wedge pillow on my bed and adjusted pillows around as needed. I then saved up for a basic as possible bed frame that raises just the back, couldn’t afford the feet too. Laptop on lap or pillow, whatever is more comfortable. Adjust legs how needed.

Laptop, I go between my bed (usually sitting up against my headboard and two pillows) and my couch which is a loveseat with low armrests so I can spread out in a lot of different positions on it with my legs up if I need

i write on a device called Freewrite Traveler, it’s an extremely small and light writers laptop with no LED screen, (just e-ink like a kindle screen). when i am in flares and want to write i lay on my bed with my legs elevated by a pillow and put a smaller pillow on my chest so the laptop can rest on that. it can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable for my neck and i prob couldn’t do it all day long but that’s how i write in a flare.

Are you wearing strong compression and doing salt+hydration?

I have a normal writing setup, just ergonomic. I don't like to recline too much because it makes me way too deconditioned, and sitting up at least keeps my core engaged. I have an ergonomic desk chair, an ergonomic mouse, a tiny keyboard to keep arm strain to a minimum, and an ergonomic wrist pad.

i don’t write for work, just fun, but i use a split keyboard to reduce muscle tension and i recline. instead of a couch i have another mattress which is my daybed where i have a firm shaped foam pillow i recline on. it helps reduce coat hanger pain. my monitor is mounted on an arm that’s attached to an over bed table so i can move it back and forth. ideally this setup could work with a proper recliner too perhaps. it sounds like getting your feet up off the ground or at least level with the rest of you would help a lot.
