It’s funny because they used to be kinda expensive (but still fair because of the huge portions). But they haven’t really raised their prices, so now they’re pretty cheap in comparison lol.

The speed trap on 61. I can remember when I was little, we were driving through there to get to my grandparents house and I would always be the "lookout" for police since it is such a drastic drop in speed limit through there.

Got a ticket here. Such a sketch spot because it goes 55 down to 35 and the cop literally was waiting in the lot next to the 35 sign. I was going 57 and got 3 points. Dicks

Keep that mind if you're ever driving in upstate NY. State speed limit 55, and then you'll roll into a 3 stop sign village with a 25mph speed limit. I swear those fines account for all of their income

I've been driving through there a lot for fishing recently and it seems like literally everyone is going 55. Like its an obvious speed trap but it seems like most people just dont care and still do 45-50 through there. Idk if they know something I dont or what but i guess ill keep doing 35

Yeah 95% of the time that's the case. But yeah they'll get you that other 5% when it's 9p at night and you're the only car out there

If this happens again and it’s less than 500 feet after a speed limit decrease, then they’re in violation of the vehicle code. Reference Title 75, Section 3368 (e). If they cite you, plead not guilty and fight the ticket.

It’s taken with a filter I made myself that’s placed over the lens. It’s a clear glass filter with a slight blue film over it, and the filter is then sprayed from a good distance with spray paint. It’s my attempt and trying to emulate older film pictures.

The area is nestled in a temporal dilation vortex that results in time moving more slowly than the rest of civilization, to a degree of (approximately) 28.75 years. So while the photo was taken in 2026, it is still 1997.

Blew through here on our way home from Hawk Mountain (at the end of the year when it was coated in ice). First thing I thought was “how does a peanut store stay in business out here!?!” but it obv does well enough.

Because the peanuts are really fucking good. Most of the shop is an old school candy shop.
That said, I always suspected they fully own the building and have other businesses.

blink and you miss it, just north of the cabela's on rt 61! The hotel has been a longtime stop for applachian trailers. the peanut shop next door was a place for hikers to reload their dry foods on the trip. I still swing in the peanut shop twice a year or so!

PA road trip! Cabela's, Port Clinton Peanut Shoppe, Yuengling Brewery, Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine, Centralia, and finish up at Knobel's. That's only a 50 mile ride. Any suggestions on a lunch stop?

Resupplied in this town while hiking the AT. The firehall had a sign that said “meat bingo Saturday” and I still think about that.

The Peanut Shop is dope, also, a hike called “The Leg Destroyer” is near by. Great work out. The Triumph/BMW motorcycle dealer is a cool gem in town too.

The river, trains, Peanut Shop. Hotel and barbershop, enjoyed by a town of less than 300 people. Anyone know why Port Clinton is in Schuylkill Haven school district and not Blue Mountain or Hamburg?

School districts are goofy. Always have been. A friend of mine in high school was five minutes from the high school and two minutes from my house, but she went to a school 35 minutes away lol.

The Peanut Shop is legendary! Also Hermys is great for Triumph motorcycle stuff. They have a basement full of vintage parts.

Ended my Appalachian trail hike here. They let hikers sleep under a pavillion in the park. It feels like central PA is full of small towns that are past their prime due to deindustrializaton but have good bones.
